Scott literally owns every single tool from every brand out there. I've concluded that it's easy to get a positive review from Scott as long as the tool doesn't stall. He seems to love almost all his polishers, except for the Rupes which stalls. Whether its Harbor Freight or Rupes. If it doesn't stall on rotation, he seems to give a positive review!
i like it as well Scott il be testing that new Makita this week too. i used the LK900 Fri night on a very expensive black lacquer table for a client in NYC it came out excellent
New makita. Really cuts well but very jumpy in forced rotation and free spin. Stalls easily. I am disabled and was given one but i had to give it back i couldnt use it. Even some very good detailers said its jumpy
it is the pads, my video is uploading now check it on my channel soon, all tools need time to get use to for me it is easy as i use tools for hours non stop doing solid surface work
@@autofanaticcars I've had my Makita,PO 6000C since Augusta 2017( Australian-European ) version ! 6000c stands for 6" backing plate! In my humble opinion it's better built and more powerful than the Rupes Mille 535rpm Makita PO 6000C 780rpm! Made in Japan! Finishes better than the Flex XC 3401 VRG. Much quieter and smoother less vibration. I'm a Professional detailer that does high end cars and this machine is the best machine like you said 👊👍
Scott, you are my favorite detailer on RUclips. Your honesty is so very helpful and appreciated. I know I can except a BS free video. My recommendation for a video is on detailing proficiently. How to get done faster while not sacrificing quality.
I have a Flex 3401 and use it as the ultimate go to tool for one step polishing a car. I wonder if this polisher would be a good addition to the 3401. Since I have many clients that have a car want it polished but don't care about the extreme shine I personally do. They want to have it done. And one month later they go to an automated car wash again. So that's why I stopped multi stage paint corrections for each client. I try to decide for each client individually what approach I will use for them. Love using Menzerna 2500 and simply hit. Wonder what this machine could do for me.
I was looking for that information about the pads because I have a lot of pads from griots, -3-D- 3M- buff n shine- Finally I found a guy with experience that said that I can used different pads for the mille 900E LK Thanks 🙏 😊
Bro ive been on the fence for 2 months ,I put this in my list on Amazon and wife seen it and bought it.i polish big trucks, mostly imron and i polish boats gelcoat mostly.....can you give advice on pads, density, type foam or micro fiber,5inch or 6inch...maintenance on it,do i need a service primarily for head grease. Thank you for all you do for us....it means the world we love you as a human, and love your honesty
Thanks Scott. Been on the fence about Flex 3401 or This. I have used Rupes but never owned because like you I just was never on the Bandwaggon for Rupes. But now just very ready to give it a go or the Flex. Thanks Scott
Little by little Rupes are conquering you Scott .... Lol, and it is ok no product is bad ... only that there are products that are for different sectors, uses and users different prices and categories
Makita PO5000C? a nice machine? Dual mode nice feature? novice here looking to buy an orbital polisher. i have been watching many of Scott's videos - he brings you back for some reason. thanks
Scott, love the channel have watched a ton of vids. Can you comment or do a video on how you would clean and upkeep a Harley Davidson? Just got a 2017 police bike for work and want to keep it looking as fresh as possible even though it sees 30k miles a year of all conditions
I tried the my Flex 3401 with Flash Pro on my black Corvette. It appears to leave a bunch on weird tiny marks. I only did a test section but had to stop. I was not sure if its the tool or the polish?
Is the Mille able to cut as good as the Flex 3401? I heard that it generally takes _longer_ to cut the same amount as the Flex, but does it have the same cutting ability as the Flex? I have been using the weaker PC 7424XP for over 8 years, and it works great for minor/medium defects but I’ve found it doesn’t quite have the power to take out deeper scratches on harder surfaces- even with aggressive compound and pads. Speed and Efficiency is not a factor for me, as I will be only working on my personal cars, so I won’t need to get through many cars quickly.
So I currently have a Porter Cable but I am looking to upgrade to something stronger. I was looking at the flex 3401 and the rupes 15mm throw but wondering if this should be my next upgrade. Any recommendations?
The Makita is a great machine ... you get the good cutting of a fixed rotation, then you switch to finish out. No one is talking about it because it’s not one the the “brand names” of flex and rupes
No ones talking about it because it's not that good compared to the Flex or the Rupes. The makita is loud, it walks on its own very easily, the ability to switch from forced to DA is great but the DA portion of it sucks. Small throw, takes longer to finish down nicely. Overall, it's price point is near the Flex and Rupes and it's just not as good of a machine.
The few reviews I have seen show it has very good positive attributes. I'm totally discounting the free spin option as no other machine has it, that I know of, and it's not the reason I would buy one. Makita generally makes quality items, that doesn't mean this one is. But I don't want to rule it out without more substantive information.
i need a guide, most of my cars have medium scratch, swirls little bit lighter ones, what is MUST HAVE compound product, plz recommend, i found a video from Scott, BOSS fast correction cream dose it do job ?
Dear Sott, re-starting out a a mobile detailing business, which of the one polisher would recommend to get: Flex 3401, MaxShine 15M or this Mille? Thanks
Hi Scott, thank you for all your videos, helped me a lot! I am looking for a DA that can switch between 5" and 3" but also able to do curve jobs well. I see your other video about Griot vs Harbor Freight, and Griot is not doing well on curve surfaces. Can your Harbor Freight switch plates without any issues? Thx and keep all your videos coming!
@Rodney I traded in my Rupes for a Mikita PO5000. After working with it for a couple of months now I think that the Mikita is the better machine and will not have any engineering flaws. The Mikita machine was also a hundred $ cheeper. The Mikita is like the Flex VRG with more POWER.
Hello, I'm a newbie, I just finished my car and its a lot of work. I would like to know which da polishers have the lowest vibration? So I can upgrade later...
What would be a good starting polisher. I love cleaning and detailing my family’s cars but I’m afraid of buffing waxing and polishing. What kind of advice could you give a beginner?
Yes, you certainly can. Wool pads work incredibly well with it also. The Rupes coarse and medium wool and the Lake Country Forced Hybrid wool and foam pads are amazing on gear driven machines.
Great video! Very helpful. I’ve been professionally detailing cars for several years and have only been using rotary buffers. I’m very happy with my results but I’ve always wanted to try a dual action polisher or polisher such as this one in your video. For someone like me whose only used rotaries their whole life, what polisher would you recommend for me to try out as the first dual action/ non rotary as a first purchase?? Thanks in advance!
Personally I would prefer to just stick to my rotary which can have 8,7,6,5,4,3,2 and even 1 inch pads all on the same machine without having to buy any additional machines
I agree with Dr for the most part. I rotary to quickly correct defects then second stage with a 6,5 or 3in da polisher to take care of swirls. Don't see a need for this Rupes
david hall I get the whole point of these Rupes machines and the flex is to have the pad not stop spinning, well the rotary never stops spinning so why not just rotary and save money on machines. 🤔. So yes David, I’m on the same playing field as you, I rotary cut, then DA finish. Works well!
I use Rotary Power for everything and never swirl or hologram, so it is pretty much a 1 machine shop. I also have one of the first Flex3401VRG machines from almost 10 years ago, and it hardly ever gets used.. Great machine, runs counter clockwise vs all others, is better for applying something after, etc., than heavy duty correction work.. My Makita with a spacer, and backing plates all the way down to 1 inch, is all I ever need. Direct drive, no vibration, no stalling, etc., just fast paint correction. If you do this for a living, you have to be very efficient, innovative, and fast.. No time to wait for the put the name of it here____________________ random orbital to do the work, and vibrate your hands to death...
All Rupes electric polishers sound like that. Almost like there's marbles spinning around in the head connecting the backing plate. While annoying at first I've come to really enjoy it.
The Flex 3401VRG was the first, forced rotation machine made for auto paint correction.. The company makes big tools for polishing stones, etc., for way longer than the oldest 5 people working at this place... :) I bought that first 3401VRG way back then, and tried it, it was ok but not anywhere near the power of direct drive that a rotary has... Also any of these random orbitals are going to vibrate a lot and that is never good for your hands, etc., over long periods of time.. This is why I only use Rotary Power for all paint correction..
Maxshine apron. Did you do that on purpose? xD Seriously, what I like about you is the no bs style. If it's good you'll say it, if not. You are honest. I admire that.
There are NO quiet DA machines.. The quietest one is the one that is not turned on... The quietest Rotary - Makita 9227, or now the newest one believe its 9237 or something...
This is forced rotation and you can't compare it to a maxshine or even a rupes long throw polisher for that matter.. So I have no clue what you're trying to say when it comes to vibration...lol You're so silly my friend
First he said he will never buy a rupes ever again Then what does he do? He buys another one , he gets paid to say something nice about these machines , stop spreading lies you con man
