Talqeen Shah was the famous character of Ashfaq Ahmed. In 1962 Ashfaq Ahmed started his famous Radio Programme by the name of Talqeen Shah, which made him very popular amongst the people in towns and villages. The programme was based on social issues which also included the issues of the common person from his/ her daily routine. Different solutions of the problems were also given during this programme in a very humorous way which was easily understood by the people.
Even today their is a huge demand of people as they loved the character Talqeen Shah & on the request of people Radio Pakistan has uploaded this rare show of Ashfaq Ahmed as Talqeen Shah.
This is when Radio pak was so powerful medium but first tv and then internet destroyed everything, besides this historical program radio dramas were so popular and it makes u feel like happening in front of you . Lots of ishfaq saheb's writings applied today although he wrote these programs so many years ago , he told in his interview that ptv asked him to bring this on tv but he refused their offer . I started listening this program in1965 after Sept war....then I was in8th class and continued listening till 1978....Just imagine how much I liked it but in those years got surprises many a time finding some one his fan in Quetta Loralli, Swabi, Thall...Today it came into mind and searched it on Youth Tub got too sad that he has passed away in May 2021. Thank You LHR Radio for preserving his works.

I am proud to listen to my mother tongue from Ishfaq Ahmad saab ... This is not actual Punjabi language rather it is different dialect of punjabi spoken by few.. and we still speak this dialact... This is literally a dream for me ❤️
It is called raangri. We still speak this. Though my mother speaks Punjabi but my father's side has this dialect.

The dialect of Punjabi used by Ashfaq Ahmad in this program is similar to what is called Puadhi dialect which is a mix of Punjabi and Urdu and spoken mainly around Patiala and adjoining areas of Indian Punjab and Haryana. At the borders of the linguistic zones the languages are always mixed like there are areas in Kashmir where a mixed dialect of Punjabi and Kashmiri is spoken by some people in Chenab valley areas like Ramban and Reasi etc. Similarly Saraiki can also be viewed as a mixed language between Punjabi and Sindhi because it also lies at the mixed zone of two languages.

Amazing writing and acting (voice), how beautifully Ashfaq is using the language, though I hardly understand Punjabi.
Thanks to Radio Pakistan. It has reminded me of good old days when we used to listen to the live program. I don't think there can be a thinker and satirist of his level .
