- Chris McBride has been caddying around the links of Scotland for 51 years. 36 of those years have been spent on the historic fairways of Prestwick Golf Club with a bag over his shoulder. He began his career looping at just 13 years of age. His friends would go picking tatties (potatoes) in the near by fields, while Chris would head off to Turnberry to carry clubs to earn his pocket money.
The Last Caddie is a story of one man's life devotion to the game and the people who play it.

What a gent. I wonder, will we ever have his like again, as the world changes. We will be the poorer, if we do not.
if all humans were more like this man the world would be a wonderful place
Epic short film! Over 50 years caddying, some man and what an achievement. I caddy over at St Andrews and this gave me a sense of pride in what I do. Great work, keep the films coming!
Thank you for these stories from these incredible Legends. Walking history books with incredible stories to be told.
Had the pleasure of a round with Chris as caddy at Prestwick. Incredible character and made the round the most memorable I've ever had
Salt of the earth.Lovely story😊
Had one of the most memorable rounds of my life with Chris. He carried my wee bag of hickories while guiding me expertly around the wonderful Prestwick Links. HIs stories and one liners were illuminating & funny as heck. I even made my first & likely last eagle with hickories on #12 and finished with a birdie. Magical day with the great man.
That’s awesome 😊
Wonderful story. Chris, you are truly one of golf’s most inspiring characters. Best wishes.
Great story, and well produced video!
Great Film.
this film is so pure, simplicity at its finest something the modern world needs desperately.
Thanks Dean, glad you enjoyed.
Great film, easy subscribe after that
Thank you. Much appreciated
Beautiful interview. I’m now missing Scotland even more than I already did…
That was a superb little film. What a fine man he is. I wish him many years of good health & happiness. He'll probably retire when he's 90.
I caddy at Bandon Dunes and so easily relate to this man. He is blessed indeed to wear the bib of Prestwick.
Thank you for a special film.
Simple and nice life, the way to be!
enjoyed this film very much, cant thank you enough for sharing this story
I just wander trough life.....wish i could be more like this man . Briljant docu!!
Thank you Jurgen, we’re glad you enjoyed.
Thank you so much for your great documentaries. I enjoyed the Duck already very much and this one is outstanding. Thanks for sharing these great movies.
Glad you enjoyed it
We had the good fortune to stay across the road from Prestwick in 1986 during The Open. Stayed with the most beautiful couple, Woods and Florence, will never forget them. The staff in the pro shop treated us like members and allowed us to play the course on numerous occasions as well as use the practice fairway. We spent two months travelling around the UK playing all the top courses and to this day the place that holds a special place in our hearts is Prestwick. Chris typifies the character of the people in the area. A beautiful man! Thanks for creating such a wonderful tribute to Chris and to Prestwick. All the best from a very appreciative Aussie!👏👏👏👏👏
Lovely story Michael. Thanks for sharing. We’re glad you enjoyed the film too.
Played yesterday at Prestwick. I was a single grouped with another guy who hired Chris. Chris was extremely funny, kind, and offered wonderful advice on each hole and shot. He has stories for years, not just a single day! Just an incredible human!
This is great
Well done, lads!!! Cheers!
Chris you are the guy I wanted to be,I caddied at the Western Gailes when I was 12 until I was 17 and wanted to be a full time caddy but got a job in an engineering factory in Irvine so never got to forfill my dream, the closest I got to caddying in the open was 1982 when I caddied for an old pro from Seaton Carew called Bill Hector,we missed the cut at qualifying by 1 stroke,I was 14 at the time and he had told me if we had qualified he was taking me with him to Royal Troon, keep looping Chris 👍🏻👍🏻I loved to hear your story
Please make more of this films/interviews, they are so pure
what a short film this is 👏
don't suppose he's selling the masters top?
Thank you. I think the Masters top is in all time favourite 😉
Dear Chris, I was in Sweden, when I found out about this clip..you need to know, you are also an institution,
To hear your journey, is truly inspiring, keep going!!
I look forward to our next whisky together,
Your friend,
Tom Morris
Beautifully done!
Played a round with Chris at Prestwick September 2023. A bucket list round with a birdie on 18 to shoot 79 … that hole and the first hole are the only two holes I really remember of the round The rest and the best memories were having Chris guide me through the golf history in was walking along side this gentleman. Hope to see you again someday Chris. Thank You!!
Wonderful 😊
Wife and I were treated very well by Chris in July 2022. We played our 1st ever round of golf in Scotland at Prestwick. Chris made us feel like we were Champion Golfers of the year. His insights and stories of Prestwick were outstanding. Can’t wait to go back and see Chris for another round.
Lovely story Jerry, thanks for sharing 😊
Very well done.
🙏
Absolutely class! I’m sure there are so many more stories that can be shared. Wonderful character!!
Thank you Tony 🙏
Really enjoyed that. Great filming Graeme, well captured. Awesome fella, loves to tell a story which is what I see a lot here in Ayrshire. People like him are very humble and likable, and have seen a lot over the years. Would love to play Prestwick and have him on the bag. I am sure I get the chance over the next couple of years - if anyone fancy a game I am up for it and be there in 15 min 😉 just live around the corner in Ayr
Great watch 😊
🙏
Fantastic film guys! Also brings back great memories of the place
Thank you Emil
1 year ago today, I spent 4hrs walking around Prestwick with this guy. Hit a few balls too. Incredible experience… memories of him and the course are awesome.
brilliant!!
Thank you Russell 🙏
Nice. Interesting man. Thank you. 😊😊😊
Great character, went to Prestwick years ago as a child, never got to play, but it’s on my bucket list of courses for sure.
Chris caddied in my group. This video is great, but it shows about 10% of his personality. Because he had to hide his real self a bit for the cameras. 😂 Request him if you play Prestwick, you won’t regret it!!
He’s a gem. The uncut version is for our eyes only 😂
superb
Thank you Chris 🙏
What an old romancer. He should carry for Player
anybody knows headcovers?
