The Big Beat glory days of the late 90s. Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, Fluke, Fatboy Slim, Orbital, etc. Such a good time to be a music fan.
They make this look easy, the timing is definitely complex and they're doing it freehand. These guys were pioneers. I was 4 years old when Vegas came out, my brother bought the CD for me and I've been a fan ever since. Masterpiece from beginning to end. My personal favorite off of the album is Bad Stone. I've found many great electronic music artists and albums in my search, but nothing compares to Vegas.
i enjoy seeing dudes throw down on some synth boards...however the comment about garbage music...how is it garbage? most of it is derived from this music. So technically your saying this is garbage too, in a way. Everything is sampled nowadays and im sure this is out there somewhere on some "garbage" song.
@John Sm I have to disagree with your opinion, but you're totally entitled to have it. Just because it's composed on a computer doesn't necessarily mean it's garbage. You can still run synths to a PC, or record from a synth to PC and fine tune it. This is like saying, just because someone is playing on a controller as opposed to vinyl they suck. I feel like, if they can rock a crowd with a controller, or if you can make music on a PC sand people enjoy it.... That's all that matters. In the end, we're all here for the same thing.... Some good ass music that gets you vibing and makes you feel good!
I wen to this other show 1997... Simply Amazing Pioneers, all of them.. Extremely Talented folks. The Electric Highway Tour. Music festival sponsored by SPIN Magazine and BF Goodrich Tires, when ‘electronica’ was being pushed as the next big thing by various magazines and record companies. The lineup included Arkana, The Crystal Method, Fluke, and GusGus.
The amount of work that goes into each voice construction and the assembly, the programming and remembering where everything is located / patches / ect .. you have no idea how it was done back in the day! This is beyond a masterpiece in it's rawest form here. it only got better from here out until they decided the era was over and quit.. because the current artists can't seem to understand how music is made anymore. Somewhere in the early 2000's it got lost and People aren't making music from the heart these days. Quite sad. The Crystal Method is the epitome of an era and influenced it all. Thank you for all of it.
I saw them live around this era. So loud it felt like the vibration was going stop my heart . Pummeling. Fantastic. Great time to be in you're 20s in the 702.
Once rode a motorbike listening to this. After about 5 minutes of taking corners at 50mph I came to my senses, and thought fuck me this isn't a computer game!
I used to love driving the highway with this blaring! In my own race car trance just cruisin in and out of traffic with precision, so it felt, anyway! Lol
Used to? I do it now haha. First heard this song in 2014 at a Magic Show in Canada and this was one of the songs the magician played during performance. I'm glad my mom got the VIP tickets, because I asked him the name of the song after the show. Been blasting this music and been in love with the entire genre since, 7 years later I'm still hooked, I'm 25 now
My first time hearing this was on forza motorsport 2. I had been a crystal method can since the blade movies. At the time when first hearing this song I had no idea it was them.
Vancouver, Canada late 90s this was THE theme to every laser tag game no matter where you played. Legit guaranteed. I remember being 15 and laser tag was peak life.
I was at one of their concerts in San Francisco and they smashed two of their synthesizers it was the most amazing thing I ever seen crazy times probably the most crazy party I've ever been to
I just love how these electronic “groups” are mostly one or two men (or ladies) standing behind keyboards or 303 turntables, turning knobs, flicking switches, and whatever to make those incredible sounds!! Just amazing to see them at work doing what they do best: Riling up a crowd and “Keeping hope alive”
what a masterpiece of electronik musik.first listening in 98 in ultraschschall in munich .today when l listening this this sound its awesome like i heard the first time .really awesome

Inspiring! Showing live electronic musicians like us how to make an epic live show, all the way from 1998 to the present day - check out the KCRW shows and the Carson Daly gigs
I know this is some years later, but I just saw the TCM at a KCRW event last night, and Scott Kirkland is STILL killing it! I was a kid when I first got into what people these days call EDM after seeing them and many others that blew me away in something called Better Living Through Circuitry. It changed my life, and growing up in the scene is something I'll never forget. Kids these days will never know, it's a shame.
Why doesn’t big beat exist anymore 😢 first time I heard these guys was playing wipeout 2097 on the original PlayStation in 98 😂 perfect club music too. Also I’m old haha
i really like their music especially up to the 2000s. pity that nowadays nobody does this kind of music. everyone listening to reggaeton and shit trap!
Back in the day the moment i´ve seen this track first time on MTV and finally found out how it was called and who the artist i was i immediately jumped on my bike and went to the next music story to buy the maxi cd of "busy child" xD
All my pics from the 90s scene are gone too. But there's an upside to that. It was harder to take and keep pics in those days (let alone video), which allowed the whole underground electronic music scene to spread across the globe while still being mostly underground for the entire decade. For good or for ill, there will never be another underground music or art scene that has the luxury of developing and evolving for years before becoming co-opted and monetized by corporations. Today, the second something becomes interesting, everyone involved is posting about it on social media. We were lucky enough to live through the last generation where an underground music scene was even possible. The pics may be gone, but the memories are a rare and precious gift.
I got to see them on that same tour when they came to Toronto! The performance was amazing, and the LIGHT SHOW was mind blowing. I remember the lights were programmed with the synths so perfectly!
I had this on the PS1 game called nitrous oxide. The game was kind of fun but the best part was Vegas was the soundtrack to the game and you could put the game into a CD player and it worked just like a CD. I thought that was so futuristic back in 98.😆

Newer DJs today don't realize what real electronic music is. I guess they didn't know
They weren't busy children.
Well considering breaks are making a comeback they probably do.
4 sure

Brilliant, part of the amazing 90’s big beat scene 👏
I've probably run a few thousand miles with Vegas playing in my earbuds over the last two decades. Motivates like nothing else.
team work baby. such a beautiful sound.

саунд номер 1 , песня супер.вот именно их стиль это стиль то что надо, стиль музыки который вообще не напрягает!!!
This slaps, then AND now. I remember (sort-of lol) clubbing to this many times.
This one's a awesome performance.
The amount of work that it takes to manipulate machines to the point they were able to . . . . OMG. So good. PHD is even more mind blowing.
