Whether a color suits you or not has less to do with your eye color and more to do with your skin tone and overall coloring. While that blue coat is gorgeous, the deep and intense blue with nothing to break it up might actually overwhelm your coloring so I think you picked the perfect harmonious color combo for you where you actually shine and play well with the coat 😍
Thank you so much for the mention! I love your striped cardigan. Your dress goes perfectly with it. I can't wait to see your Sidsel project develop. Best wishes and happy knitting!
Nice to see you again Nikki! How lovely and cosy to be starting the Haust pattern (you know that Haust is Icelandic for Fall or Autumn?) - the colours are so good for this time of year! Yes that Yell is very grabbing isn't it - and I like that it is done in the round and steeked, instead of Marie Wallin's regular pieces and flat colourwork... whenever I get to mine, that will be a joy to watch grow. Have a wonderful visit with your Mum - hope you get a chance to do a little duo with Laurie in a podcast! Anyway, enjoy all the cast-ons... I've been having fun getting in to some more test knits, so I'm having castonitits that way, lol. Cheers, Judith 💜
Thank-you dear Judith 🥰 And thank-you for sharing the meaning of "Haust"--very fitting indeed 🍂 Can't wait to see your Yell when you get around to casting it on. Not sure if you're aware but several knitters have noted that the moss stitch along the edges tends to curl up, even after blocking so you may want to look into options to avoid this (I'm leaning towards using an i-cord edging). Have fun with your test-knits 💕
@@KnittingWithCatHair ... thanks for the heads up Nikki! Yes I think it's the difference between the gauge of the Moss Stitch hem and then the regular knitting that can make it flip - I need to experiment with that - apparently if you make the gauges equal (with needle size) it should not flip. I've actually started on the Moss Stitch hem, but haven't gone on to the colourwork yet, so I'll be sure to to another gauge swatch of the two before I go any further. Cheers! Judith 💚
Crochet is also my comfort craft and I'm craving a simple single crochet blanket at the moment. I still have some things on my needles, but I think I'll use my handspun yarn for that blanket and maybe make it my project for this winter. Always good seeing you dear Nikki. Ivana ❤
Another great episode. I love all of your woolly projects especially the kiwi socks, so adorable and I’m curious to see how the Ranunculus in 2 colors. Nice seeing you again 😍💖
Thanks for mentioning me! It means so much for a new podcaster! ❤ I love the kiwi socks, what a fun pattern and colours . I love that Yell pattern. I remember the gentle knitter made one (she doesn’t podcast anymore because of health issues) and it’s so beautiful… I think you could still find it on here, she didn’t take it down I think. Hers is a blueish grey one. I could totally see you wear that long setesdal jacket! I think it’ll look stunning on you!
My pleasure Gwen 🤗 Yes, I saw Nicole's version of the Yell--so calm and beautiful in her seaside colours 😍 I absolutely loved her podcast and hope that one day she'll be able to return. Happy Making 💕
Thanks Maggie! I watched your latest episode the other day and was absolutely blown away by your handspun hoodie! Such a beautiful, cherishable piece! I hope to do something similar one day 🤗
Nikki your eye for colourwork and upcoming projects always start the wheels in my brain a-turnin’. 💖 I wonder if I’m brave enough to try a Beale…. i am making fingerless gloves right now and the thumb increases aren’t what I’m used to and it’s hard for me to ‘just trust’ the pattern! Haha 😆
Thank-you for spending time with me dear Leanne 🥰 And you absolutely CAN knit a Jennifer Beale pattern! Especially after your recent thumb gusset accomplishment 💪💕
Your cardigan turned out great. I'm so glad saddle shoulders are becoming more popular, my favorite fit. When I started knitting a few years ago this style was very hard to find. As for the Beale along- I have my yarn for the main color but have not decided on colors for the contrast bands (Joe Batts Arm). I am on the home stretch of Lovage (Marie Wallin) so one that is complete I will be ready for another complicated pattern. The reason I never have castonitis is because I don't have that many needles- a safety measure!
Thanks so much for sharing Genie 🤗 Yes, saddle shoulders are definitely a game-changer in terms of fit! Lovage is such a beautiful pattern and one I definitely plan on making as well 😊 Can't wait to hear about your experience making Joe Batt's Arm! Not sure if you've seen it but Kim from the Fleece and Harmony Podcast knit the same sweater a few years back and you may find watching those episodes helpful. You are smart to limit your number of cords! I've been known to order more cords just so I can cast on more projects 🤣🙈
You're going to get me hooked on colour-work garments pretty soon! I remember the Fruity Knitting episode with Sidel, and her work is incredible. Some of these long sweaters are making me think I really need to make them so I can wear leggings underneath and call it a dress! Great episode, your cardigan seemed to knit up really quick.
Hahaha my plan to convert everyone to colour-work addicts is working 😂 But seriously, I love that vision of a Sidsel Hoivik "tunic" with leggings 😍 You should absolutely knit one! 🤗
@@KnittingWithCatHair Hahaha Just call me one of your Colour-work Coven minions. 🤣 I don't actually wear dresses at all, but someone once told me that a skirt + leggings is basically a bum warmer, and I have been trying to find a way to work it into my sweater-obsessed knitting plans so this might do it... some day!

You have lots of amazing BIG projects!! Love Sidsel Høivik. I have the book and have knitted the Sun in Setesdal, I have the yarn for the Delft Royal Jacket ready to go (Christmas knits need to be finished first). Then, the Oversized Star Sweater. I understand your feeling about the ‘fancy’ look to them, but I did the setesdal one with hand dyed purple as the main colour and white for the pattern. I did not add any crochet or embroidery. The sweater still looks great. I don’t know how to crochet and I was too impatient to wear the sweater to learn🤪. The Delft jacket is going to be done in Briggs and Little Sport. That yarn is pretty close to the Hillesvåg. Looking forward to seeing YOUR project! Your knitting is beautiful so I am sure you will do a wonderful job😊
Aww I love your cardigan😍😍😍 I'm trying to write a little quick here now before the internet dies again, still big problems here😮💨. Wonderful episode as always Nikki❤❤
Thank-you dear Emilia 🥰 Thanks for confirming my suspicion about the fibre neps. Hoping your internet connection goes back to normal soon so we can see more of you again ❤️
Hi Nikki! I've been meaning to leave a comment. I am totally in the same situation with my spinning as you are. The fiber that I am currently working with is unbelievably sticky and oily, even though it was processed and carded by the producer, and it is leaving nubs when I spin it. I am not enjoying spinning with it, but will feel bad if I abandon it, so I'm just not spinning. On top of that, I took a workshop on spinning and the person was very persistent on getting me to spin woolen instead of worsted, and it has left me confused. As a result, I haven't spun since August :( I need to push through this and get back to it! I miss it so much! Thanks for another great episode 🥰

Hello and Welcome 🤗 I am a bit "colourwork obsessed" you could say 😂 I feel like tension issues with colourwork are quite common and I've certainly had my own share in the past! Knitting things like colourwork cowls or cushions (which tend to be more forgiving with regards to tension/gauge) are great ways to practice your technique and still create beautiful, functional pieces.
