My gf and I just recently bought bikes and started riding after many years. I stumbled upon your channel and have to say your enthusiasm and attitude are infectious. Great vid!!! Safe travels on all your adventures!!!
Great video. Really enjoyed the history lessons. So interesting! And very good description of the trails. 80 miles the first day WOW…outstanding. So glad I found you guys on RUclips. Can’t wait to watch more of them!! I know this sounds silly but I love that you don’t play music while your talking. Lol. Most times it so hard to hear words with music playing 🤷♀️ Adding more trails to my bucket list!! Thanks for sharing 🚴 💙 Awesome story about gifting you a bicycle. Look what it started!! Very cool ❤
Thanks so much for the kind words. We are so blessed with rich history in this area, so it's hard not to share it with you all !! This was such a rewarding experience for us.
This was an awesome video you two! We just rode 24 miles on the Alleghany River Trail starting in Franklin and so far it has been our favorite trail. We help keep the Three Rivers Heritage trail clean so of course we love it too as we love biking around the city and water action. Thanks for sharing your journey. It showed just how tough it really is in some areas but you did it!!
Thank you for sharing! Having been born in Pittsburgh and raised in Erie, I am anxiously awaiting the completion of this trail! Wonderful and inspiring video!
Erie is so beautiful we visit frequently. Omg when it's complete it will be absolutely amazing. We are looking forward to doing it again when it's done ! Thanks for the kind words !!!!
that is quite a journey. i have done both the GAP and the C & O....am now looking at this one too for 2025...you guys provided some insight. I love your story how you got into biking and the fact that you guys are SO resilient. thanks for sharing....come do the Ohio Towpath or OTET in Ohio sometime....
Epic ride! Thanks for making the video. You two are troopers. I live near Freeport and have ridden all of those trails from Titusville south. I Admin. the Pennsylvania Rail to Trails Facebook site and was talking to you via the FB site every day. I'm a huge advocate of the Erie to Pittsburgh continuous rail trail. It's coming together and will rival the GAP trail when it's done.
I absolutely agree. When it's finished, it'll be as great or better than the GAP and C & O. We had a great time and look forward to riding the completed trails again!
Thanks, guys. I watched this one again. Really enjoyed it. I’m trying to plan a route from Pittsburgh to Cleveland. This is it! Thanks for all of the details. I enjoy now much fun you two have together. ❤
Great video guys! I am amazed that you had the time to do all of that set-up, shooting and dialogue while riding 60-80 mile days on loaded bikes. I have only just got into using the GoPro to video rides, but really find the chances and time required to take ride-by clips and talk to camera while riding is really challenging. However maybe it is easier riding solo, or as a couple. Most of my touring is with groups of 6-20 fellow riders, often with me as organiser of the tour. I have been a long-time stills shooter, and even then it is mainly only on long tours (more than 2-3 days) and to special areas, that I find the time and motivation to take lots of shots. All credit to you, you done well!
Thank you! The Section from Emlenton to the East Brady Tunnel should be complete by September of 2024. Work is continuing from Ford City to Freeport. There is progress. You two are adventurous! I don’t ride through grass trails! (July, 2023)
Thanks for the update. Thomas, we are amazed at the progress being made on this trail it's going to be so nice when complete. This was deffinalty an adventure very greatful to be able to try it out !
I live in Cheswick near Springdale and used to bike to work in Sharpsburg along the "rock fall" zone you went through. It's nice having your own car sized bike lane. I just wish they extended the Three Rivers Heritage Trail all the way to Springdale so you could ride from Rachel Carson's hometown to downtown without all the cars.
It was so nice yes ! Yeah I agree they have been really working hard on this trail tho I'm impressed with the new section that are complete it will be a great ride when it's all done
Thanks for sharing this beautiful video. I wanted to know if you guys found any ticks on you at anytime during this trip . Thanks again for another great video
It was such a great trip, and we were very fortunate we did not get any ticks. Deffinalty tried to keep a close eye on it. We do keep tick removal tool and spray with us, it does seem to be very common here.
I found your channel this morning and really enjoyed the ride report! I just recently got an eBike and close to retirement so bikepacking looks like a lot of fun coming up. We used to live just north of Pittsburgh in Butler County and loved it out there. I'm one day going to do this bike ride. When you were in Foxburg there's a really awesome winery and restaurant. If you still run half marathons, do the one called End of the Road half in Breezewood, PA. We ran through two tunnels on the abandoned turnpike. It was awesome! Subscribing and looking forward to your other videos. Also, from Ford City, could you have maybe gone to Butler, and down Rt. 68 and caught the trail again? Just thinking out loud. Take care.
Good to meet ya Scott, this was a crazy fun ride tuff pa hills !! Definitely have have thought about that half marathon. Need to get down there with our bikes to its very fascinating!! Hope to catch ya on the trail !!!
@@ReimaginedAdventures I highly recommend you at least bike ride the abandoned turnpike! I rode on it several times since it's only a couple hours west of where I live now and did the half in 2020. They do it in the fall. Now that I'm not able to run anymore I'll possibly walk the half or at least ride it again. I've seen videos where people stealth camp along the abandoned road. If you are ever in the Lancaster area in eastern Pennsylvania, we have a lot of nice trails out here as well. I live 4 miles from one called the Northwest River Trail and do the 29 mile loop every weekend. It runs along the Susquehanna River and is beautiful.
@@BikingHikingRadio we are so blessed to have such great trails in this area ! Cannot wait for what the summer intails. Camping along the abandon turnpike would be amazing. We may have to do that this summer thanks for the idea ! We would like to go to the pa grand canyon too ! So many places to visit !
I've been contemplating putting these trails together myself, @RideAlongAdventures told me about your video...nice to see what I might be getting into!
That's awesome. we love his videos, great guy. This was an excellent ride challenging and rewarding some beautiful trails. They are improving all the time. Certain sections are finished, and now some tunnels are open they are on the move to complete this. It's going to be great.
@@ReimaginedAdventures assuming y’all watch stuff on here as well, check my stuff out if ya have time. I’m fairly new to biking and been tossing up content of hiking and biking, feedback is always awesome!
Until the trail from Brockton to Sherman is improved, I would recommend an altogether different, more direct route to Spartanburg or Titusville. I’ve ridden some of that rail trail in New York on my mt bike and bailed out for similar reasons. For future cyclists planning this route I would suggest Erie to Harborcreek Pa then onto Sherman NY. Or Erie to Union City PA to Titusville. Heading south from Erie can be busy until you get south of I 90. Plenty of nice quiet paved roads from there. Just a little bit of local knowledge from someone who rides this region almost every day. Yin’s are way tougher than me to conquer some of that terrain with all that gear!
Yeah, most definalty. There's better routes to take for sure and safer. Our main objective was to follow the planned route as the trail will be designed using the Erie to Pittsburgh trail map.
Excellent video thanks so much for your hard work completing this trip was challenging it looks like. When you stayed in Corry, what do you use for a coffee pot? Also how can I become part of Reimagined Adventureres?
Thanks for the kind words it was deffinalty a ride !! We used a small 20 dollar percolator from online. We need to upgrade to a bigger one. 😂😂 all are welcome !! Let's catch a ride this summer ☀️
80 MILES, for your first day out! OMG, hard-core. My idea of touring is to do about 45-50 miles (70-80km) as an ideal distance, and often enough 30 miles (60km) is best as a first day on the road.
We agree 100% we told are selves next multi-day trip we are not riding as far each day. We miss to many things along the path and adventure. We were so exhausted. Glad we did it great experience. Thank you so much for talking a look at our video !!!!
Yeah, we deffinalty do some research. There is an erie to pittsburgh trail map it's unfinished currently, but we used the roads that resembled the map as best we could !
So we used our GPS between the trails alot and our goal was to mimic this inactive map that was is on the Erie to Pittsburgh website. There was definalty some uncertainty, the end result was just about right on I have turn by turn directions if your interested I could email them to you. Thanks for the question ! www.eriepittsburghtrail.org/completed-trail-system
Curious where you camped on the second day. Most properties along the Allegheny are privately owned. While it's great to promote the RTTs, not all owners along the trail would welcome folks camping in their yard. Otherwise, very informative.
Enjoyed the video. Just a suggestion for your safety - adjust your helmets. Having your forehead exposed or the straps so loose the helmet can flop around, the helmet isn't going to do much. You helmet should be just over your eyebrows and tight enough to just get your fingers under the straps. Be safe and enjoy your ride.
80 miles the 1st day with all that gear. You guys are beasts. That's insane . I'm in amazing shape and I couldn't do that.
It was a haul for sure !!
