  • #biketouring #travelbybike #bicycle #surlybikes We spent 4 days on the Erie to Pittsburgh trail. The trail connects 14 trails throughout NY and PA, starting at Dobbins Landing in Erie, PA and ending at Point State Park in Pittsburgh, PA. The entire trail is only 66% complete, so the other 34% meant using Google maps. We biked on back roads, dirt roads, main roads, and side roads, navigating our way through fields and even a pond.

    Great video. Really enjoyed the history lessons. So interesting! And very good description of the trails. 80 miles the first day WOW…outstanding. So glad I found you guys on RUclips. Can’t wait to watch more of them!! I know this sounds silly but I love that you don’t play music while your talking. Lol. Most times it so hard to hear words with music playing 🤷‍♀️

I Admin. the Pennsylvania Rail to Trails Facebook site and was talking to you via the FB site every day. I'm a huge advocate of the Erie to Pittsburgh continuous rail trail. I live in Cheswick near Springdale and used to bike to work in Sharpsburg along the "rock fall" zone you went through. It's nice having your own car sized bike lane. I just wish they extended the Three Rivers Heritage Trail all the way to Springdale so you could ride from Rachel Carson's hometown to downtown without all the cars.

    Until the trail from Brockton to Sherman is improved, I would recommend an altogether different, more direct route to Spartanburg or Titusville. I’ve ridden some of that rail trail in New York on my mt bike and bailed out for similar reasons. For future cyclists planning this route I would suggest Erie to Harborcreek Pa then onto Sherman NY. Or Erie to Union City PA to Titusville. Heading south from Erie can be busy until you get south of I 90. Plenty of nice quiet paved roads from there. Just a little bit of local knowledge from someone who rides this region almost every day. Yin’s are way tougher than me to conquer some of that terrain with all that gear!

    • @ReimaginedAdventures
      @ReimaginedAdventures  19 дней назад

      Yeah, most definalty. There's better routes to take for sure and safer. Our main objective was to follow the planned route as the trail will be designed using the Erie to Pittsburgh trail map.

    Great video guys! I am amazed that you had the time to do all of that set-up, shooting and dialogue while riding 60-80 mile days on loaded bikes. I have only just got into using the GoPro to video rides, but really find the chances and time required to take ride-by clips and talk to camera while riding is really challenging. However maybe it is easier riding solo, or as a couple. Most of my touring is with groups of 6-20 fellow riders, often with me as organiser of the tour. I have been a long-time stills shooter, and even then it is mainly only on long tours (more than 2-3 days) and to special areas, that I find the time and motivation to take lots of shots. All credit to you, you done well!

    Enjoyed the video. Just a suggestion for your safety - adjust your helmets. Having your forehead exposed or the straps so loose the helmet can flop around, the helmet isn't going to do much. You helmet should be just over your eyebrows and tight enough to just get your fingers under the straps. Be safe and enjoy your ride.

    I found your channel this morning and really enjoyed the ride report! I just recently got an eBike and close to retirement so bikepacking looks like a lot of fun coming up. We used to live just north of Pittsburgh in Butler County and loved it out there. I'm one day going to do this bike ride. When you were in Foxburg there's a really awesome winery and restaurant. If you still run half marathons, do the one called End of the Road half in Breezewood, PA. We ran through two tunnels on the abandoned turnpike. It was awesome! Subscribing and looking forward to your other videos. Also, from Ford City, could you have maybe gone to Butler, and down Rt. 68 and caught the trail again? Just thinking out loud. Take care.

      @@ReimaginedAdventures I highly recommend you at least bike ride the abandoned turnpike! I rode on it several times since it's only a couple hours west of where I live now and did the half in 2020. They do it in the fall. Now that I'm not able to run anymore I'll possibly walk the half or at least ride it again. I've seen videos where people stealth camp along the abandoned road. If you are ever in the Lancaster area in eastern Pennsylvania, we have a lot of nice trails out here as well. I live 4 miles from one called the Northwest River Trail and do the 29 mile loop every weekend. It runs along the Susquehanna River and is beautiful.

  • @petesig93

    80 MILES, for your first day out! OMG, hard-core. My idea of touring is to do about 45-50 miles (70-80km) as an ideal distance, and often enough 30 miles (60km) is best as a first day on the road.
