I was inside in the channel 8(HP) building not long after you filmed this. Dept. of energy did indeed buy the building.. They gutted some of the inside and remodeled it. I was one of the trades involved in the renovation. I will say the elevators were/are still the same as in the movie.
Big Edna's was a Harden's Hamburger. The interior changed considerably in the intervening decades. In the dining room, I recall it had four columns of booths with the middle two columns being thin. Probably had tan/beige laminate covering. I think the booths on the left when you look in were original for the vintage of the movie. The dining area was chock full of Americana, and it had a cardboard cutout of Weird Al, which I never understood as a child.
You are correct! Sadly I was only there for less than a day for to do this video and I totally ran out of time. Thank you so much for watching though I really appreciate it!
I’m from Tulsa. Weird Al’s RV was parked in my old neighborhood in the summer of 1988 because the lady who lived there was a producer. And her two kids that were our neighbors were in the movie in a cameo
Spatula City was a Warehouse Market grocery store at the time, about 1/2 mile from my house. The bar scene was at Southern Hills Bar & Grill about a mile from my house. My friends and I would ride our bikes to the scenes hoping to see Weird Al but never did. I live near the channel 8 building now. Best movie to come out of Tulsa. Yes, better than the Outsiders and Tex.
I live in Tulsa and was surprised at a couple of these locations so thanks for going around town!
My pleasure!
My favorite movie!
Neat to see what the places look like now!
Yep, I wish the channel 62 building was still there but many of the spots still look the same!
@@SetsStreetsEats Yeah, That's kind of sad to see it gone.
I saw this movie in college. My buddies and I were trippin on acid. Needless to say we looooved it!!!! So cool you did this.
I can only imagine how amazing this movie is on acid lol, that's awesome!
One of my favourites as well. I saw it in the theatre in 89, it was a great experience.

Thats awesome, thanks for sharing!
That's nuts. I've gone for beer next to the karate studio a few times this year and didn't even know it!

Do you happen to know where they filmed the Conan the Librarian bit? It could've been anywhere, even a studio.
