- Hello! Welcome to iisakemi.
A lot home owners are curious if HDB flats are able to install wall hung toilet bowl or concealed shower mixer. In this episode I'll share with you how it can be done in a BTO HDB. In this video, you will understand how's the internal of the flush system will be installed as well as for concealed shower sets.
I mainly focus on our home renovation progress after the internal concealed plumbing works were done. Of course with some tips during the #housetour Do remember to subscribe and get updates once everything are completed!

Love the idea of shifting the sink locations away from the original BTO layout! Would like to know if this will cause any water pressure or drainage issues? (Or is this an idea for a new video? :D)
Thank u! Water pressure will not be affected that much because it’s the same way how they will tap the water from the main source too. For drainage issues, it will be slower because of the distance so clogging might happen if it wasn’t maintain proper.. 😅 like need to try not drain out food particles etc.
Thank you for the in-progress video! It helps so much on visualizing.. My husband and I are planning on our BTO reno and wonder if it is feasible for toilet WC to rotate position. Looks like it can be done by having a P-trap and to set some distance away from wall?
Would you advise us to do so? Or there would be sewerage leakage issue in the long run?
Appreciate if there is any other comments/solutions. ^^
Hello there! I won’t suggest because there’s possibility of sewage issues in long run 😅 And by switching you will see the big pipes running on the surface because you cannot hack the floors 😬 and if I’m not wrong it’s not allowed too 🧐 need to cross check with the HDB website
The answer is yes and no. It depends on how your BTO toilet is build. Only HDB has the sewage pipe plans and only they can advise if rotate is possible.
I am also a top floor bto unit and wanted concealed rainshower from ceiling too but end up my ID as well as bathroom shop salesperson said cannot because water pressure will be weak. Does the pump thing you installed behind the new wall help overcome the weak water pressure problem? (And I know some suggested the heater tank will improve water pressure since the shower is using water from there and not from the actual source but I’m also wondering what about cold or lukewarm showers where the water will not entirely be from our own heater tank, then will weak HDB water pressure affect rain shower?)
Hi there, they are not wrong either. What I encountered is those older flat will have the pressure issue in top floors and I can be wrong to say that as our shower system have not been installed and tested yet. However, for us we decided to just take the gamble (at most just not that shiok only) and I tested the pressure too after the key collection and it’s seems normal (compared to those old flats, in fact much better). 😅 hopefully after we installed and tested the water we can debunk the saying for new BTO. 🤞🏻
PS: Our BSC Plumbers did come and inspect the pressure of our unit too and explained for our project the top 2 floors are not using the water tank above they are using a separate pump just for the 2 highest floor units. Therefore, the water pressure is not an issue and in fact better that the 3rd highest floor. - I’m not sure if it’s the same for all the new projects though.
Storage heater does helped a little but it’s not super big different kind. Like comparing instant and storage there will be a difference. We are using storage heater mainly because we are used to that and we cannot tahan the instant heater types.. #teamaesthetic hahaha
@@iisakemi hi thanks for the explanation and so resourceful of you to think of asking BSC to identify the water source! But what I also heard is when you test alone it's also not accurate because water pressures will be shared and only accurate when all units are using the water then you can see how it's really like only when everyone is also using. Not sure how true is that. I had some neighbours from the blocks which got keys earlier that already moved in shared videos of their rain shower in the BTO group chat and the water from the rain showerhead looks like dripping tap kind, don't even have continuous flow. That's why I scared haha
It’s true that too. But I felt it’s mainly within your household not so much of the other units. The diff is not as huge and it’s hard to have everyone turn on water at same time too. There’s a gauge(not sure if it’s called that way) outside at the riser. There’s a range that all units need to have. And if it’s under the range, can arrange PUB to fix it for you and the pressure will come up.
The BSC came to check for me also mentioned that nowadays HDB are using water efficient taps therefore there is a small piece of filter in the given sanitary that smaller down the water pressure. Removing it also help Abit on the pressure.
@@iisakemi , Congrats on your new home. Regarding your concealed shower system, are you able to get a great flow rate? >9 l/min? And do you know what is your water pressure? 3 bars?
Nice. Concealed WC and rain shower, is it more difficult for maintenance in future. I supposed cost of these items and workman cost are relatively higher too..
Thank you! ❤️ In terms of costing, it’s relatively higher for the sanitary itself and also labour wise as the plumber need to come twice instead of once (in terms for BTO situation).
For maintenance wise, for concealed mixer it is accessible from the front plate. The remaining concealed pipes for shower is the same idea as those pipes that were already concealed by the HDB (it’s the same way of concealing). For WC, wall hung WC, the major cons will be the “sinking” issue compare to normal floor types in future. For us, we are more concerned on the dirt/germs build up along the “floor” type WC that’s why we went ahead with wall hung WC knowing about the cons we might face in future.
Maybe I can do a comparison of the pros and cons of the different WC in future? 🤔

I see that you have sealed up the service yard with windows (after removing the pre-installed wall and door). Are we allowed to seal up the service yard?
We are allowed to add windows to service yard.
Can hide inlet and outlet piping under the tiles? Hdb allow?
Why not? Hmmm there’s no regulations on that, that I know of 😜
Should have done this toilet bowl during my reno. So jealous. Wasted $799 on american standard toilet bowl
Can always reconsider it when you are renovating too! I’ll be using American standard wall hung toilet bowl too! About $520 for the toilet bowl not including the conceal flush system. The system I think is about $350 I can’t remember already.

I’ll share the costings at the end of the renovation! For my project lead time is slightly longer than normal clients situation. Hahaha I would say it’s not a fair gauge. 😅

iisakemi, quite rare for this kind of wall hung toliet bowl. But price wise, it might be expensive one cos need to include extra wall.
Hmmm it’s actually not that rare. It’s quite commonly use just that the options are more limited hence it’s always not part of consideration for most owners. The price of the sanitary is comparable with normal floor type WC (comparing with big Brands). It is higher priced, I would same mainly for the extra labour needed to build wall, and extra trips for the plumber. ☺️
Hello for your wall hung wc the system did you have to drill into toilet floor? This is bto right...will it void the water proofing warranty?
Yes. Maintenace and cost is why few people do.
I thought you can't hack kitchen floor tiles as part of HDB regulations.
It’s not part of HDB regulations though. It’s hackable upon HDB approval. ☺️
