Fantasy Nature (as well as everyone else's "super card") are last words that are only available once you got 100% faith. These can not be seen in the move lists, since every character has a fixated one. Once you've hit max faith, you either hit Z+X+A+S or C+D.

I guess the major thing to discuss is the major gimmick for each game. for HM you can choose what special attacks are mapped what button. each attack is given a certain Religous meter. what religion you are the most determines how you shot types function ( Buddhism: short range power, Taoism: spread shot etc. etc.) ULiL has preset moves and special moves based of urban legends that require a power orb to use. some are attacks, some are character buffs some have other uses not immediately apparent. there are a lot more differences, but I already drawn this out too long, you'll have to see for yourself.
Yeah, I for one was kinda upset when Sanae was confirmed not to be a playable character but, since the plot has to with a religious war, how would Sakuya and Utsuho fit into the plot?

The fact that there's, at least currently, not a Sanae, Sakuya, and most importantly an UTSUHO is kind of pissing me off right now. This game sure is amazingly beautiful, especially since it's all still very clearly spritework, but come on. No knives and/or pad joke executions? Especially after untying that rack Byakuren's apparently been keeping secret?
It's Gensokyo! That's explanation enough for pretty much anything that happens. Story-related or otherwise. Cutting out some of the people that have been pretty much everything from straight playable protagonists to solo-game stars kinda stings.
Utsuho was broken, I can manage without her. Rather than Utsuho, I'd love to have seen someone like Eirin / Kanako if we are to speak from a last-boss perspective. If any character could replace Utsuho, I'd liked to have seen Seiga from TD. (Mainly for the loltastic dream of the chance to see her use Yoshika as a shield when blocking attacks, and for prayers of an awesome arrange of her theme.)

I was going to download Hopeless Masquerade but after watching how the game works now... After seeing The animation of every spell card.... And oh god, after i saw the rythm Of the gameplay... Nope. On Inmaterial, Scarlet Weather And Hiso, the combat rythm its really high and requires a lot of practice to learn how to avoid or use certain habilities. Hopeless Masquerade looks more like a normal Touhou game than a fighting one. In 12.3, The final battle of Sanae's story mode, yeh that aerial battle vs Suwako, was one of The most NOPE moments in the entire game because the flying combat (And The moving controls) were almost frustrating than enjoyable. And the spellcards.... There are some that look like a lot of fun, like that one in wich you shot The enemy from a third person view... Thats a incredible move and seems fun To use. However, the rest of them are casted very slow Almost for my taste. In all the previous fighting touhous, The spellcards had Sometimes special features, casting times and side-efects, like Suika's spiritual bending (draining all the spirit from enemies to temporaly mute their habilities To shot magical atacks was just great). Nah, im not saying Hopeless Masquerade is bad, but i was expecting something much more better than this. :/
+Asriel Dreemurr I'm pretty sure this is a very good change for touhou fighting games sometimes. We have to accept it and adapt to it no matter what type of games it is. I know that that is your opinion but hey, I like Hopeless Masquerade and Urban Legend as much as I like Hisou and SWR and IaMP :)
Atsushi Kakeru I understand your point haha, i say that to myself in other situations, like while playin Metal Gear Rising after all the Metal Gear Solid games but... Idk, the gameplay of H. Masquerade, resembles too much for my taste to the clasic Touhou game style, and i like the fightin spinoffs because... Well, that, they are fightin spin offs XD, but maybe i will give it a try later.
i fell in love with Mamizou in this game i already liked her before but in this game she is just hiarious to use and i generaly end up loving the more silly/funny characters in the fighting games like suwako and suika even tho my fave character is koishi when i 1st used her i just wanted to rip my hair off but after a while i got used to her and she is fun too but Mamizou wins hands down for me just for how silly hers attacks are and her theme is just as silly too i love it xD
3 years later huh. With AoCF out for quite a while now I also think that Soku was better. I think this way due to the character selection and spellcard system. I am sucker for Soku's artstyle too, simply my fav. Love the new 2hus, but I cannot deny my heavy bias towards the first windows games. Not to put down the new fighting game trilogy, the overall visuals in these new ones are very good, the stages now actually feel like they belong in Gensokyo, and Migel Futoshi's sprite art is too notch.
ZUN contributes in oversight, character balancing, story and music but you're unfairly attributing the game to ZUN alone when the vast majority of the work was done by Tasofro. ZUN doesn't take credit for the game. It's not sold as a Team Shanghai Alice game, it's sold as a Tasogare Frontier production.
tis a shame this game has no yukari most of the characters have some funny over the top moves in this game just imagine what the troll lord named yukari would pull (being the first to have an outrageous move in a touhou fighting game) also : i was hoping to see ran playable in this game pitting her against mamizou since her hatred to foxes was " a story for another time" she is a awsome boss but too overshadowed by the afromentioned gap troll and deserves some screen time
