  • I decided to post about one of the tools I use to make digital art and that is the Huion Kamvas 13 2020 version. It is a pen display tablet meaning it's a monitor you can draw on using the included pen and that you need to plug in to a computer for it to work.
    I got this tablet late of 2020 for a a birthday/Christmas present from my mum. So I've been using this tablet for over a year now and I gotta say that I still keep using it when making digital art. Even though I have an iPad, I still go back and use this tablet for a lot of my illustrations.
    This tablet is really great and it seems to me that it will last for a long time.
    If you enjoyed this video and like art as much as I do, consider giving a like and a sub to my channel.
    If you have other questions don't be shy to comment.
    See you.

    I was considering acquiring a huion, but it seems like all their tablets have problems and I don't have the patience to deal with them lol. Thanks for the review! It's difficult to find a proper review like this, after using the product often for at least a few months.

    The other day I saw someone talking about buying macbooks with broken screens for incredibly cheap and using it with an external monitor; having found a laptop with a 10th gen i5 processor and 16gb RAM for $120NZD due to a broken screen, I'm realising getting that + one of these secondhand for like $200NZ would give me a pretty solid and portable device for a really low cost.
    I already have a beefy desktop with a cintiq 16, but I keep finding myself a little drained by sitting at the same desk in my flat for hours and hours. The windows don't open so it gets really hot in the summer too, so I feel like it would be nice to have a portable option I could take outside or to a library or whatever.
    Do you have any thoughts on how it would perform being the only display for a laptop, in terms of reliability? The only things that worry me are the overheating and potentially short lifespan, since you'd want it to last and work properly if you don't have another display.

    Great video! I have some of questions. How does the anti-glare film deals with scratches? After a year, is there any significant worn signs? And, how does the screen size feels? Would you have gone for 16" or 13" is ok?

    • @jointjo4739
      @jointjo4739  Год назад +1

      Thanks! I would say the film is quite good, although if you draw hard then it will scratch. Also the nib of the pen gets worn out and it can turn to a sharp point and that can cause a scratch. I would say scratches are inevitable and that's the only worn signs I had after a year, a few scratches on the film. But I would think that if you carry the tablet around then you will have others. 13 inches is ok, but I heard that 16 is the sweet spot for size and mobility, and if I had more budget at the time I would've bought the 16.

    • @jeesellem.d.9319
      @jeesellem.d.9319 Год назад +1

      @@jointjo4739 I see, I guess the etched film makes the pen tip worn out faster. I'm trying to decide between the Kamvas Pro 16 (2019) and this Kamvas 13. Both have pros and cons but I still can't decide if I want newer technology but smaller screen size or older technology with bigger screen with glass instead of film.

    I need a graphic tablet but I have low budget for this. So, do you have any suggestions like a long-lasting and low-budget tablet? oh and thanks for review!

    • @jointjo4739
      @jointjo4739  2 года назад +1

      Glad the video helped. Hmmm screen graphics tablets will start at around 200 dollars. So the cheapest right now is the Huion Kamvas 12. If you don't have the budget for those then I suggest buying a screen-less graphics tablet. They will last almost forever.

      Thanks for the comment. I have a laptop that is 8 years old but it works fine with it using clip studio paint as the software. Although, I did upgrade the hard drive to an SSD and added RAM to make it 8gb. If you have an old computer that is lagging and if you don't have enough cash to buy a new one, I suggest you upgrade to an SSD storage and add RAM if it's possible.

      If you are planning to connect it to a capable smartphone or your PC/laptop is capable of sending power, data signal, and video through USBC then I'd say it's worth it, since having only 1 cable plugged in is cleaner and more convenient.

      I thought the disconnect problem was because people weren't setting the huion as the primary screen and in mirror mode (where It's the same image in both screens). I've seen videos where they had to do those things to make the tablets work, even from other brands. And what does the Steam, a gaming app, have to do with a drawing tablet? Does closing the app from running in the background fix it?

    • @jointjo4739
      @jointjo4739  Год назад +1

      I've set it as the main screen as well but the disconnection problem was still there. I agree about the Steam part, I also don't see the connection there.

      @@jointjo4739 On reddit multiple people said their costumer service is trash, even if your unit is still in the return window they don't want to give you a refund nor a replacement. The warranty is just to look pretty because they won't fix your tablet. The weird thing is: I have 3 friends who have Huion for at least 1 year and a half and none had problems. 2 Have the Huion Kamvas Pro 16 and one the Pro 13, all use Windows 10 and 2 use Steam. I was thinking of going with one of those models but now I'm debating. Maybe I should go with Xp-pen or Wacom. Also, although they say not to install the latest drivers, have you tried actually installing them? It's an easy process and maybe could fix your issue that sadly is common with Huion.
