Thats only if FMI is on and it is activation locked. You can do this with your apple id account. If they are bot enabled, then restoring is that easy

@@ironshadowy I know how it works…I personally don’t know anybody without that setting on, they at least know it secures them in case of anything as I live in a really shitty town with really shitty people. I’m known around my area as one of THE tech guys to go to and the amount of times I have to tell people that i will not/cannot bypass an iCloud lock (an ACTUAL iCloud lock) from a device they “found” or were given one way or another. I know there ARE ways around that, I COULD if I were sleazy. But I’m more…white hat, I suppose would fit for a descriptor.

It is not stolen, you need to enter the apple account password to unlock the phone using this method. Or it will stay in recovery mode. The customer most likely gave him his Apple ID and password.
It won't stay in recovery mode. The phone will restore, but the setup process will ask for the previous Apple ID and password.

No, if the phone is Apple ID locked then you won't be able to get to the Home Screen no matter how you rest the device. Now if it's not Apple ID locked then that is a different question.

The authorised technicians usually ask for POP and we need the Apple id and the password once it is restored to det up the device. If you don't have the Apple id and password device will be on activation lock and to remove that you need to upload the POP to link which Apple shares which usually takes 10 - 30 days

Seems kind of staged. When you restore any Apple device it’ll have an activation lock on it if the phone was previously disabled. Either way you have to remember the password. Or you could use a cracked iCloud server to bypass the lock.
There is no such thing as cracking an iCloud server. Also, he activation lock only appears if Find My was on.
