This song came on the radio today and I started to tear up because my Mom passed away last year on this day from covid. This was her favorite song RIP mom, love you always
Everyone has one song or two that reminds them of a loved one that has passed on. It will make you sad then smile just a little. Remembering the awesome times with that person. So sorry for your loss.
My wife ask me why I like that song so much? I said in my drinking day my relationship were so blind and I missed what was going on until to late. That made me who I am today....
Great son.. my mom's favorite song. She cranked up the cassette player in here 80 montie carlo when I was young. Still today after 30plus years this song takes me back to the good old days. :) I love u mom!
Vividly remember hearing this song when I was working as a very young man on a training project for the Field Artillery School at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma in the late 1970s. Being a Hollywood kid it was a different environment for me for sure. I was so struck by how polite and well-meaning and kind people were to me - a real fish out of water for sure. This song was all over the radio at that time. I remember how vivid and strong was John Conlee's voice and how poetic and anguished the lyrics were. Gosh, has 40 plus years really gone by? It's all these years later and I still remember every word of the song and it still stands as strongly in my memory as though this was 1979.
I got to introduce him on stage many years ago when I was a radio guy and we hung out back state and I just want to say, he's as nice as you've ever imagined.
I have loved having John Conlee in my home and in my car on the radio my whole life and had the pleasure to see him in concert at the Medina Entertainment Center. Great performance and he sounds just as great now as 30-plus years ago. John was great!!!
wow i remember this. The farmers lost their crops and the banks foreclosed on their farms. Hundreds of them lost everything they had. And then they did this Farm Aid to help them out. It was so wonderful to see this. Love
A simple common man who work two jobs before being a great talent. He never went above his raising and look down on any others. Bless him and his music.
Short, to the point, great catchy melody, relatable, rhythmical, fabulous writing and lyics, AND one of the smoothest voices with unwavering consistency ever to have taken the stage! NEVER get tired of listening to this song!
I saw him in person at a Concert a few years ago. He played this song and the entire audience was so captivated by his performance. Everyone just continued to clap long after he finished the song!!🎵 he
It doesn't get any better than this. Real country music ! Seen him live August 1988 at Great mills amphitheater behind high school in St Mary's County . Sweethearts of the Rodeo were there also . Awesome show
wow, john u still have it,the voice just cuts through you and does what few songs do,give u a chill in your spine, god bless you john, thank u for your songs...
ROSE COLORED GLASSES Lyrics: I don't know why I keep on believing you need me When you've proved so many times that it ain't true And I can't find one good reason for staying Maybe by leaving would be the best for you But these rose colored glasses That I'm looking through Show only the beauty 'Cause they hide all the truth And they let me hold on to the good times, good lines The ones I used to hear when I held you And they keep me from feeling so cheated, defeated When reflections in your eyes show me a fool These rose colored glasses That I'm looking through Show only the beauty 'Cause they hide all the truth So I just keep on hopin', believin' That maybe by counting the many times that I've tried You'll believe me when I say, "I love you" And I'll lay these rose colored glasses aside These rose colored glasses That I'm looking through Show only the beauty 'Cause they hide all the truth
AND you could hear and understand each and every word! C&W nowadays is becoming like hard rock, no enunciation, no clarity to the words. Makes it hard to listen to, let alone like it.

he is one of the few that sounds exactly like his album version and hits every note flawlessly.
I would hope he could sing the way he sings.

ROSE COLORED GLASSES
Lyrics:
I don't know why I keep on believing you need me
When you've proved so many times that it ain't true
And I can't find one good reason for staying
Maybe by leaving would be the best for you
But these rose colored glasses
That I'm looking through
Show only the beauty
'Cause they hide all the truth
And they let me hold on to the good times, good lines
The ones I used to hear when I held you
And they keep me from feeling so cheated, defeated
When reflections in your eyes show me a fool
These rose colored glasses
That I'm looking through
Show only the beauty
'Cause they hide all the truth
So I just keep on hopin', believin'
That maybe by counting the many times that I've tried
You'll believe me when I say, "I love you"
And I'll lay these rose colored glasses aside

'Cause they hide all the truth
