I had an 03 accord in the same color and that car was truly my baby for 15 years! Thanks for the video it brought back memories of me changing the oil with my dad!
Thank you so much for a very helpful video. I have had my Honda Accord since 2007 and never had to add oil myself. However, I foolishly forgot to have an oil change and my oil light came on.. Needless to say, I had no idea where the stick was to check the oil and then where to add the oil. Your video was the solution to all my questions. Thanks again.
Got an 07 as well but I got the 4 door stick shift 170k miles put in my first 10k and oils change. It was consuming oil at a rapid rate but replaced the pcv valve ans took about 3k miles to take affect but now no more oil consumption.
My problem is the oil filter part. I don't know what Honda was thinking when they made that part. I wish they will make a tool for removing/installing the oil filter
Just as a tip, I never fill or half-way fill the new filter with oil. The car does that on its own so there is no benefit unless you like cleaning up messes when you lose your grip on it installing it. Other than that all is the way I do it. He gets special consideration for doing it without lifting the car. I am barrel chested so I can't do that. You don't need ramps. Jack stands are cheaper and easier to store and you can pick some up at a garage sale or something.
I have ramps I use, but for the purpose of the video I wanted to show that it was possible to do it very primitively. I’ve heard this about the oil filter not being filled and I’m sure you’re correct. Hard to break habits your dad taught you when you were a young man, but I could go for not spilling any of that oil when I turn it sideways to put it on the case. Thanks for watching.
Thank you ! I’ve been getting my oil changed every 3k miles but I figured I’d ask since I’m am Starting to do my own maintenance on my Accord and I am using sae 5w-20 high mileage Full synthetic. still runs great and I’ve owned it for 10 years.
