In college, my favorite saying “Don’t let school get in the way of your education.” This applies to your mission, but it also applies to aviation. So often, we read in books about things like block altitudes but you showed us how to use it! I really enjoyed seeing your ADM on this one.
I passed my PPL checkride yesterday, learning at PSA's flight school at KCCR. Been watching your channel for a few months now, great seeing some familiar scenery (and PSA shirts) on your channel!

Been following your channel for a while now. I purchased my Cherokee six 2 years ago after watching your first video. You flew into Concord, that’s where i am from. Soo cool!!!
That’s awesome for your daughter. I’m in healthcare and fly with a co worker that is a surgeon who got me into flying. When I see your door handle I remember on my warrior that I found out through eBay that is the same handle used on VW karma Gia. Mine is a 1973. Your belly seems excessively dirty and May be oil hopefully not a leak but could be expelled as excess.
Bummed I missed meeting you! I used to be a line guy at PSA at KCCR. I now work for a Part 135 company flying a King Air 200. I am going to Lear 60 school in a week!
The weather prediction is the best I’ve ever flown in tomorrow so it’s certainly looking good. 11 hours in the log, i was asked to solo last weekend but I was waiting on a rebooking availability for my medical due to the mrs getting covid. Luckily a SAR heli pilot needed to change his appointment and I got a last minute jump in
I fly out of KCCR and live in the area. I'm pretty sure I know about when you were here, considering the weather you encountered. All things considered, it was nice NorCal IMC.
My favorite Fridays are the ones where a flying monkey video crops up. Thanks so much for all you do! I'm curious about something. I notice you tend to go to Buchanan Field to get to the Bay area. Is there a reason to prefer it over Livermore airport? I think it's a little closer to you, has nearby public transit, slightly longer runway, similarly predictable and usually VFR weather...
This was actually the first time I've landed there- it was just the closest to my friend's house. I've landed at KOAK Oakland, San Carlos, and San Jose before. It all depends on where we are going after we land... :)
I also like CCR because there is a hotel right there on the field. You can off-load your bags and roll them right in the back door. Not fancy, but good for a quick overnight or early departure. There are also lots of food options in walkable distance.
So sorry, must have gotten my wires crossed. Ah, very good to know, thanks! I live in between these two and have been eyeing flight schools at both for a bit. I was wondering if there was a reason to prefer one over the other that others were aware of, but I wasn't yet. Sounds like they might both be fine options. Thanks again!
@@davidbennett3433 You might look at Travis Aero club in Rio Vista for flight training too. Great instructors, planes are well maintained, prices are worth the drive.
One nit to pick. I don't think the rule book addresses it, but I always squirmed when a pilot reads back "circle *to land* runway xx" after a clearance "circle to runway xx". We both know that you intend to land on the circling runway, but the readback might imply you are cleared to land.
I hope your daughter continues her interest in medicine… my daughter was just finished medical school and is now a MD, she was fully matched and will start her residency in Emergency Medicine in July… good luck
I’m on vacation to the Bay Area currently and have been following your vids since your Cherokee 6 purchase vid. I’m sure you and your family are busy but would love to run into you to shake your hand. We’re staying close to Japan town. If not, have a wonderful time in Cali!

Flying Monkey, Love your panel! Do you have any issues with the Tru-Trak holding altitude for the large Cherokee Six? Jesse also installed mine in my Cherokee 235 and it did everything very well but I must have it trimmed so perfect that I might as well shut it off to maintain altitude and just trim altitude by hand. I wish it helped me more like other autopilots I have used, I don't have full faith I can multi task in turbulence while on IFR and be sure I can look away for 15-30 seconds to copy a clearance or brief plates, etc.... Just curious about your experience. I have been told from friends whom own it in large and smaller airplanes that it works great in the smaller aircraft like RV's, but not so great in heavier singles like ours.
I have no issues with the TT holding altitude. It does great. There may be something wrong with your servos or the configuration of settings. I would call TT/BK about it.
Another great video!!!! What kind of cannulas are those that are attached to your headsets? I need to get me some and I have the A20's also and your setup looks very comfortable.
