Bro I used to have stock headers put some some cheap test pipes cuz cats were bad and started hearing like a hissing/turbo noise right when I hit 2500 to 3k rpm and when I let off the gas same shit only when engine hits 2500 or 3k rpm I was like maybe there’s a header leak (wich it wasn’t) then l installed ISR long tube headers everything smooth until I got to the stock Y pipe was a little hard to fit and stud holes weren’t the same size as the ISR long tube headers end it up getting a ISR y pipe was way easier to install better looking y pipe once I started the car the car sounded deep so good with the stock muffler and resonator once I got to test drive it man same shit but way worse than before when my car hits 2500 to 3k rpms you can hear a big rattle/grinding/hissing by the passenger area don’t know the exact word but sounds so ugly now I’m gonna have to get a z1 y pipe thank you so much for making this video helps so much!!clean Z and exhaust btw🔥
Yeah bro it's all do to the amount of increased flow and vibration that causes that sound. Once you get the z1 y pipe we'd be running the same set up and that should fix your problem too.
Hey I have a couple questions! 1. Isn’t the flex pipe on cars important to have? Did you have any issues not having the flex pipe? Also what size diameter is the z1 y pipe? It fits to the isr long tube headers?
Do you have any videos of you driving when you had the rattle? I’m interested to know if we’re having the same issue, as I also have the rattle with ISR long tube headers
I don’t have a y pipe delete and it has more airflow on each side so my flex pipes are probably what’s causing the noise since I just got new test pipes installed
@@steviekay_Z33 I have berk test pipes and a top speed pro y back exhaust. I’m friends with a local shop and they cut the y-pipe at the flange giving me 2 flanges after my resonators. That goes into the flex pipes which was recommended from the shop to stop any snapping from engine movement and after that they’re bolted into my test pipes. I would’ve did the job myself but work is really busy right now. Technically it’s like have 2 single exits almost. The cars a HR g35 btw.
@@jamalrush3636 ooooh i c yeah bro thats A LOT of air flow guaranteed more than the flex joints can handle. If i were you id delete the flex joints and weld some pipes there instead. That should eliminate the extra vibrations

I had this problem with my g before and i had the z1 y pipe and it still made the same noise, i have a z now and i literally switched to a isr y piper cause the z1 y pipe is known for leaking so i thought that was the problem but it still makes the same noise.
@modifiedcars4275 it also has to do with what type of exhaust and headers you're using, the z1 ypipe fixed my issue but im running a rear mount turbo now so it's just loud af now lol
@@steviekay_Z33 rn I'm running a nismo s tune exhaust, use the have the tomei but was way too loud so I switched to a nismo but started making the noise, I guess tomei was too loud for me to hear the rattle
Do you have after market headers or exhaust tho? Stock y pipe might not be able to support the extra air flow and vibrations coming from the upgraded parts

bought the z in 2017 and don’t really know what the previous owner had modded but exhaust was clearly one of them and I think it’s a cheap y pipe, it was connected to a straight pipe which I removed to put an oem one cus I was really sounding like a Honda too. Problem is bro I just bought that ISR y pipe for msrp and I’m now submitting a return because this is the second video I’ve seen of this VQ rattle fix. So thanks for making this bro really helped me out deciding on what to do.

Lol I have the same problem on my 19’ Q50. I have ISR Y Pipe as well and it’s rubbing on the Passenger side Frame.

I just cut my cats open and had the honeycomb taken out.(Cheap Staright Pipe) Maybe the extra airflow causes my y pipe to rattle.
