By the stick, probably either a sewer machine, or dock dredge. Love the old iron. As for Mr. Complain a lot....shut your hole. These "mechanical contraptions" still earn their keep today, and I've seen 15K+ hour machines that will outlive, and outwork, any modern, electronic, computer driven, junk pile on the market. They may not be "environmentally friendly", but they are friendly on the wallet.
Awesome. I own a 685b and its loud also. I put up a few videos of it but haven't used it much yet. controls are 2 foot pedals for the stick and bucket with boom and swing on levers. That machine has a really long stick for the size.
The 7 dwarfs with shovels and picks would have more power than this, and be far less annoying listening to them singing Hy-Hoe, Hy-Hoe all day L.O.L. If anything should be banned it's any piece of construction equipment still in use today with these motors thats not in a museum or show for short demonstrations. If I owned anything like that for work here on the farm I'd have it measured out before i bought it to see what other motor would fit. I'd be fitting a regular 4 turbo or 6 cyl diesel in place of that current mechanical contraption to convert diesel into noise. I'd be sick of listening to it and so would my neighbors a mile or 2 away. It looks like the dippers got some extra plates on the sides, was that factory or an attempt to strengthen it later I wonder. Thanks for the video of a machine thankfully from the past, Take care

Just think about a Cat 225 or Drott 40 or 1080B, they will keep working forever if treated right.
@@scottmcquarrie7295that they do, my friend. That they do.
Thank you for sharing; this machine was what Hy-mac based their 480 model on; except the UK made machines were fitted with Ford engines.
That Detroit isn't working too hard. Not converting fuel into smoke as efficiently as possible.
into noise and smoke

Definitely a cool excavator!
Little tiny Detroit
Andrew Camerata's new machine
Do you SEE how long the boom is? Holy cow
That's a lot to take in. I can't imagine what it would do in hard pan!
Need a video of that elevator grader in the background. That's Alberta roadbuilding right there.
That’s a really cool video, guys.
Detroit sound?

I have the bigger version of this machine on my channel. ITs loud!
