I studied abroad in Roma and absolutely fell in love with Italy and its people and food. I love limoncello and just finished making your Nonna's recipe today, Molto delizioso. Invio amore a te e alla tua famiglia da St. Paul Minnesota. Grazie e buon natale.
Great recipe; I am going to make limoncello cream with my next batch! Thank you both, so much! You might appreciate this story - my daughter has been allowed a small amount of limoncello at home on special occasions since she was in high school, so she knows what it is, and enjoys it. She's chosen never to be much of a drinker, she's controlled, introverted, and thoughtful by nature. When she was in college, she was able to study for a semester in Rome with about a dozen fellow students from her US Midwest college, which she loved! There was a small family restaurant on the ground floor of the building where all their flats were; they often ate meals there, mothered over by the nonna who ran the place. About halfway through the semester, the students were celebrating some milestone, and the nonna gifted them each a small glass of house/homemade limoncello. Being American college students, they assumed the small glass meant "shots" and slammed each glass down before my daughter could instruct them on how to savor the treat! After she explained their mistake, and soothed their host explaining their ignorance, my daughter bought a second round of limoncello so they could savor the drink. The students enjoyed this so much, two more students bought two more rounds... My daughter's fellow students discovered that, when tipsy, my daughter sings like a rowdy sailor and gives hugs without reservation! The nonna was so pleased that this six foot tall nordic blonde had an appreciation for limoncello that she mothered her all the more, the rest of their visit!

Hey @vincenzo - where do you store it the 20 days (alcohol with lemon zest). Do you put it in a cool, dry, place, or at the window, or in the basement. Where do you put it? ...... Do you also have to put all the alcohol in the container, or can it only be half of it, if it does not all fit in the container - and add the rest later together with the sirup?

Thank you, amazing recipe. I was wondering what type of water and lemons would you recommend used? I’ve made this 3 times with different types each time and they all taste noticeably different
I was just trying to make some candied Meyer lemon peel for Christmas baking and I cooked the peel in simple syrup (1 part water to 1 part sugar) and put it in a jar. I left it a little wattery being in a hurry, and next day tasted the Meyer lemon peel syrup Yum, I thought, this would be GOOD with rum. Very good, in fact. Tastes more like really fine orange liquor. I could make margaritas with this. I wonder which method is better, sugar first or booze first. The beauty of keeping a jar of boozy peels is your usually don't use a whole ton of lemons at once, so every time you use a lemon you can dump peels in the booze jar. Sugar really hangs on to flavor though. It is a good method, too.

I'm trying to make limoncello since the stuff sold here in the US isn't anywhere near as good as what I remember in Italy. I must have read a dozen or more recipes online and they all vary wildly on the amount of sugar and water to add. Some seem to add ridiculously high amounts of sugar, or water it down a lot. I don't want mine too sweet and I figured about 30-35% alcohol was a good target. This recipe seems to hit that sweet spot, plus it's got the nonna seal of authenticity. My lemon peel is soaking now, and I'll definitely be following this recipe when it's time to add the sugar+water.
Ron you can try, absolutely! I haven't had the pleasure of trying yet, but it seems super interesting ... I think you can use the same doses of limoncello, you have to experiment a little! if you try it, however, remember to let me know, I'm really curious!

No lemon trees can grow in our cold climate, but the supermarkets are loaded with them, even organic lemons! So I MUST / HAVE TO try this recipe! LOL! Thanks so much for the encouragement my good friend!
Juanelo1946 Be careful with supermarket fruit because they put waxes etc on them to mske them have a longer shelf life. I would suggest giving them a good scrub in hot water before using the rinds in anything. :)
Hi Brissy! I've always washed them lightly before using supermarket fruits but now I'll scrub them! Thanks for the great advice!
Your videos with your nonna and family brings me so much joy. Now I want to visit Italy 🇮🇹
I'm thrilled to hear that! Nonna's love and family bonds are the essence of Italian cooking. Italy awaits your visit with open arms 🇮🇹✨. Buon viaggio and savor the flavors! 🍝👨🍳🌆
Great recipe Nonna. Brava! That is exactly how Don & I make it when we have lemons on our tree. Unfortunately, pure alcohol in Australia is much more expensive than Europe. We pay $55.00 for half a litre. It is still worth making as the home made stuff is so much better. Thank you for another wonderful video guys :)
I would love to make these execept I'm not sure what pure alcohol is...
And I thought that the one place on earth that would have accessible alcohol would be Australia. (Just teasing.)
Where do you buy the pure alcohol? I’m in Victoria. I’ve looked and I think it’s really hard to get if not impossible now. Hope I’m wrong.
we add this amazing reciepe to our mead .. creating our lemonhello xxx
Pure Alcohol is too hard to find but I've heard you can use vodka, not sure if it would be ok??
Have to say.... Watch A dozen videos of lemoncello making and your nonna's recipe is the most appealing and the color is incredible bright...It makes you wanna just do some.
wow, this makes me sooo happy! I'm sure nonna will be so happy to know that 😍
so.. are you going to make limoncello? 😋
@@vincenzosplate bought the lemons. Unfortunately I will have to do it with vodka as I can't find 95% alcohol in Canada where I am. So I will do both limoncello and crema de limoncello. Will post my bottle once I am done....
This is the best recipe ! I’ve made it a lot and have also replaced the lemons with oranges, blood oranges and mandarins. Long live Nona !! Greetings from Australia
OMG 😍 great job 👍🏻 I’m so happy you liked it
Thank you soooo much for sharing your recipe. A very long and happy life to you. With your limoncello cream, do you heat the milk to dissolve the sugar ? Would you be so kind to give me the quantities for milk and sugar please? Thank you xx
You are missing limes now 😂, i have my lemon infusing for about 13 days now and just set the lime and mandarin today; i have found that even without the simple sugar added it makes a fantastic drink when served with sparkling water.
@@johncrankshaft2886 I’ll definitely try with some limes as they’re in season now. Good idea. Do you still dilute with water without the sugar or use it neat with sparkling water ?
@@brettnielsen3924 i make quantious amounts, i make half neat and half diluted; the diluted i usually gift and the high horsepower version i enjoy myself
I am loving this recipe Finishing my third batch
Thank you, it looks delicious. I've never made before but will use your recipe when I do.
Hi Debbie, thank you. Try and I'm sure you'll love it
Hey @vincenzo - where do you store it the 20 days (alcohol with lemon zest). Do you put it in a cool, dry, place, or at the window, or in the basement. Where do you put it? ...... Do you also have to put all the alcohol in the container, or can it only be half of it, if it does not all fit in the container - and add the rest later together with the sirup?
you have to use alcohol all together, and then you can leave the skins to soak inside the house, place the jar where you want, it doesn't matter
@@vincenzosplate Done.. three liters to go! Living in Germany and bought Amalfi Lemons (could have bought Gold for the same price most likely). ... 3 Liters (96,4%) and 5,5kg of Lemons :)... Hahhahahah. Send me your address bro (or Nonnas) and wait 3-4 weeks :).
@@vincenzosplate Hey Vincenzo, everybody loves this. I like "exlusive" stuff when you go not only one, but a million extra miles, to perfect sth. And this belongs to the few of my handful skills (and christmas gifts) now ..... However, I am now digging deeper into Pistachio cream, pistachio alcohol and doing my research. I have not found any in your channel. Does Nonna do that do by any chance? Any recipe? Gonna start next week (doing my own pistachio cream for dubai chocolate, and then also doing pistachello). For this, i have ordered 800 Euros worth of pistachhios from Turkey to Germany :). Please let me know any good recipes, and the offer stands: You send me any address where you can pick up a bottle, i am happy to share my results with you (and Nonna). Best wishes, A.
OMG, I am definitely making this! Delicious! Let's make nonna famous, I'm ready to buy!

I 💕 your Nonna Vincenzo 😊🌻 she is The Best ❣️
Great video! I am trying this recipe right now. However I became to wonder what is the best place to store the alcohol with lemon peels for the required 20 days? In the fridge or in room temperature?
Made following your recipe. Thank you its great
wow, Im so happy to hear that 🤩 Great job Robert!
I have made this many times and it always comes out fantastic! I just made another batch, now the hard part is waiting...
Now you’re a Limoncello maestro 😁
what kind of alcohol did you use?
@@TomekinaOfa I used Everclear
I made a batch of Orangecello today. I just had to try it! It'll be ready in 3 weeks :)
Ma questa nonna è una perla! Mi è piaciuto molto il modo e la ricetta si. Abbraccio mio caro.
She’s so adorable completely like my grand ma :) thank you good recipe and take care Nonna!❤️
Aw thank you ❤️
Thank you for this amazing recipe, 👏
I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the recipe! 😄 It's always great to hear positive feedback. If you have any questions or need more recipes, feel free to let me know. Happy cooking! 🍽️👨🍳
Thank you, amazing recipe. I was wondering what type of water and lemons would you recommend used? I’ve made this 3 times with different types each time and they all taste noticeably different
Thank you so much Richard, I always recommend to use organic lemons, the water uses the one you prefer, I don't know!
Cute. I would love to try that limoncello cream.
Ora voglio limoncello. Looks amazing. 😍😃👍🏼
Pure io Jonny!

Fantastic!! Really brings me back memories of my nonnas limoncello❤️
Oh, so beautiful ❤️
Love it. My Family is from Palermo Italy 🇮🇹. Love this stuff
Hey there! That's awesome, I'm glad you enjoyed the recipe. 🙌 Let me know if you have any questions or if there's anything else you'd like to see on the channel! 😊
Thank you! I can't wait to try it! Lots of Love from Sweden 💖🙋🇸🇪
Hi, thank you too. You have to try this, this is the best Limoncello recipe ever. Greetings from Italy
We have to make the alcohol at home though, we cant get 95% alc here in sweden...
You're grandmama is so sweet and so knowledgeable with the recipes of the motherland. I miss Italy! XOXO!
Thank you so much ❤ you're kind!
hello my friend... This is the second time that I've ever seen this recipe made. this is truly an awesome recipe. TFS
Just came from Italy and tasted it for the first time in a restaurant, wow so good I just bought a bottle here in Miami to drink at the beach, so refreshing! But of course Nona's must be amazing, home made. Grazie Nona I will try to make it also!!! 🎉🎉
Can you please put the recipe for Lemoncello Cream in the description? I wanna give that a try too. Please tell Nonna "Thank you" from me.
But how much more sugar? They give the weight in grams of sugar for this.
Is it 10 more grams or 1000 more grams?
@@2010stoof Just add an extra cup and try it and add more as needed until it is to your taste. If Italians are like us Mexicans we don't measure ingredients, we just learn to wing it and get it right ;-)
you have to put for 1 liter of alcohol, 2 liters of milk and 900 grams of white sugar. is delicious!
@@F1Miko79 how long does it last once bottled? (Kept refrigerated of course). Also, do you bring the milk to the boil like you do with the water and then add the sugar?

Such good memories!!
Now you can make it 😍
Nonna is amazing. I have never seen anything like this done homemade before. WOW!!
Damn.
Nonna has serious knife skills. She peeled those lemons without getting any white pith. By hand
Yeah, you should never piss off Italian women
Grazie mille Vincenzo! Just did 3L of limoncello based on this recipe and it is gorgeous!
That's incredible! 🍋🥂 I'm thrilled you enjoyed the limoncello recipe. Your 3L batch sounds amazing. Cheers to you! 🇮🇹👨🍳
Just loooove these videos, I am making limoncello right now with my own lemons, could you please part with the exact recipe for limoncello cream? that would be fantastic!!
@@vincenzosplate Thank you so much for the simple directions for Cream!😙 Made my day!

I'm thrilled that this recipe hit the mark for you! It's always a pleasure to create dishes that resonate with people. Enjoy cooking it and let me know how it turns out! 😄👍
I love your Nonna❤ She is such a gem.
Making my 3rd batch of this today. Best recipe out there. Makes the perfect present as well.
Omg 😍 the 3rd 😍 thank you so much! We’re so happy to hear that
@@vincenzosplate I pretend it is a present but really, I drink most of it myself...

I smiled through all the video
Amazing recipe nice color.
Thank you so much ❤️
Dear Nonna, where did you get the pure alcohol and what kind can be used? Can't seem to find it in Germany and I even tried in apothecary :P
Hi Gregor, Nonna uses pure alcohol and she find it at the supermarket. You have to try there
Love when your Nonna is in one of your videos. Family times are best times. Cheers my friend.
Can this be done with orange peels, so I can then make orange cello cream, that tastes like the orange dreamcicle ice cream i had as a kid?
Ron you can try, absolutely! I haven't had the pleasure of trying yet, but it seems super interesting ... I think you can use the same doses of limoncello, you have to experiment a little! if you try it, however, remember to let me know, I'm really curious!
I just prepped a test batch of lemons and 190 proof grain alcohol, and a test batch with navel orange peels. I can't wait to see how this turns out. I'll post a follow up. Thanks for this recipe idea. You've got a new subscriber now. 🥂🥂🤗

Greetings from Orlando, Florida, USA!!! I've been browsing your channel after watching your Australian Market Haul collaboration with Bobby from FlavCity and I'm so happy I found your channel... Thus far, I made the Spanish Omelette video recipe this morning for Easter Sunday, a much enjoyable and delicious surprise for my family. This afternoon I plan to make your Nonna's Limoncello recipe. Your Nonna is so adorable, I speak Spanish so I can understand some of what she's saying in the video... please send her my love. Adios!!!
@@vincenzosplate Hello Vincenzo, thank you for the kind words... and Florida would love to welcome you and your family for a visit. Yes, I was able to find the grain alcohol at my local Wal-Mart. Funny, I didn't know if we had it in town, but after I Google it, it showed only 3 places sold it in the Orlando area and one happened to 2 miles away from my house. At any rate, we started the Limoncello process... one day down and 19 days to go. 😊
Can I borrow your nona! I love limoncello and have it in my fridge too!
Thanx lol!

Great! Welcome 😁
This video is 3 years old, but god I'm happy that I saw it! Say thank you to your grandmother for this wonderful recipe I bought everything for limonchello and will make it tomorrow.
I've got two questions:
- where should alcohol with lemon rest? Fridge or cool place? Because I live in Turkey at the moment and it's always + 30 so I can't find a cool place :)
2- how long can cream limonchello stand? Where should I keep it for it not to go bad?
Thanks in advance!
You can put alcohol with lemons in the fridge if it's too much hot where you're now. Limoncello cream can stand a lot of months in the refrigerator.
@@vincenzosplate Thanks a lot!

After seeing this recipe, I did a batch of limoncello, but also did other 3 licours: orange, strawberry and coconut. They ended up very strong, about 37% alcohol. I kindly thank you for this recipe.

Katrina Miles same! I was looking for it on Amazon, but couldn’t find it.
You can try at supermarkets or special home shops
They are called “swing bottles” and can in fact be purchased on amazon, as well as other retailers like target and world market. Just do a quick google search.
