I absolutely love this. The casters have no idea what Ancient Gears do 😂 Just goes to show with the new support this deck got, it’s a sleeper pick. Can’t wait for Statue to come to us in the TCG, then the deck can really get going! OCG already has a few tops with them. Edit: Wanted to also put my two cents in. This Ancient Gear player is awesome… in the sense that he played cards most Ancient Gear decks now days would never play. Frame, while a searcher and searchable with Box and the new Golem support, has been power crept. Well, maybe not “power crept”, but whatever word you’d use for “The card works, but you’d rather run this”. Reborn got a buff with Commander’s existence, but most of the time, you never want to be in a situation where you’d have to use it in the first place.
Literally all the decks besides the meta ones have so many untapped potential and strengths as well as no one know what they do just no one tries to use them in tourneys and just stick with meta all the time, when people use them you can see results like these
@@lifedeather While I admire the enthusiasm, and being an Ancient Gear main myself, I also can’t say I main the deck without realizing the deck’s shortcomings. It’s all gas. The moment you run out, you’re dead in the water. It has a TON more consistency boosters to pull this off making Fortress that much more viable (Watch NA WCQ round 7 show match for reference) for defending your plays. This guy’s decklist isn’t the best from what this video shows, but even with a competitive list, you’ll have brick hands quite often, despite things like Tanker helping circumvent that. However, returning to your point, yes! A deck like ancient gears has amazing potential! It plays into the format very well and counters Tenpai! I mean, come on, in tournaments, what’s your opponent going to side for ANCIENT GEARS of all things??? They’re prepared for the meta, not this sleeper pick! And a part of me kinda wants it to stay that way.
@@lifedeather In general? Power crept by Ultimate Golem fused using Duel and powered up by Tanker, which is really easy to pull off with the deck. In the current format? Mandatory. It’s what shuts down Tenpai and is an absolute chore to deal with if you’re playing something like Fiendsmith or even Snake-Eye. Being Unaffected by 2 thirds of the cards in the game is still very strong, even if Monster Effect removal is prominent. With the new consistency cards, making Chaos Giant has never been easier.
