Our guy. If there’s one thing I’ve learned this year, it’s to prioritize my physical health over my “get it done at any costs” mindset. You can’t just ignore your body. Proud of you Floberg, many more miles to come 🫡
The *real* flu is no joke. 2-4 weeks of being ultra sick. Extreme fever, coughing, pain in the extremities, being extremely tired - all. the. time... Get well soon dude, take all the time you need! There is no need to rush. All the best in 2025.
praying for a complete recovery ........CONGRATS on setting PR'S in the 5K,Half,and Full Marathon !Sounds to me you had a VERY SUCCESSFUL YEAR!You are an AWESOME BEAST......
As a dad of younger kids with the worst immune system, I feel you. 😅 I get very sick 1-2 times per training block. Still crushing PRs 🎉. But makes me wonder how good could we be if we dedicated ourselves completely to the sport 🤔. But I guess that’s another reason why it feels so good when we reach our sport goals. Sharing it with family makes it 100 times better. Get well soon and best wishes to all family and sport wise in this new year!
A year with so many PR’s in every category, 5K, 10K, 13.1 or 26.2 is an incredibly successful one, congratulations Eric. You have inspired me and kept me hopeful through the year as I battle through worst of my injuries in years. Thank you for making videos, thank you for all inspiration. Praying for you to return to being back and better than ever in no time. Happy new year. The best to you and your family.
Health comes first! Either way this year was insane for you. Congrats on everything you accomplished, learned and unlearned. Thanks for sharing your journey with us, here’s to a healthy 2025.
i am glad to see you being real and not just sharing the wins but the lows as well. I personally set out a goal for 3000 km running for this year. People like you make me want to do better and I cant wait to see what this year has for you!
I picked up running again this year for the first time in 10 years, in large part thanks to you. Grateful for the work you’re putting in and content you’re putting out.
I hope your feeling better Floberg, your did amazing this year! I’m going to go for a sub 1:30 half in May! Please bring back FAAALLLLLL IN LOVE for the new series!
I got sick to Floberg. And I basically have to start my progress from scratch. I just want to let you know, you're not alone man and you've got this! Be about it! 😎
Perfect timing for me, man. I got the same flu on the 24th and am just going for my first run back today... with a half marathon < 3 weeks from today. Good luck in 2025, Floberg!
Speedy recovery! Thanks for the motivation to get back to after a setback! There is always something that comes up in a training block, it's how you keep the fitness going! Looking forward to your 2025!
I wish you a happy and healthy new year, Floberg! You inspired me to chase my goal of 2500 miles this year. After just rolling a 15 miler this morning, I finished 2024 with 2,501 miles. Thank you for your inspiration, and I can't wait to see what 2025 has in store for everyone! Happy New Year! 🎉
Thats OKAY. I ran a half in May and have been struggling with knee pain ever since. You can get back on track. Give it time. You got this! Happy New year!
Dude you inspired me to try to make it to 1,000 miles for the year. I didn’t quite make it because of my knee, but I definitely got some great runs in I wouldn’t have without your inspiration. I still feel like I leveled up and learned a lot, which is the point even if I didn’t make the arbitrary number goal. So thank you! And feel better.
so many folks got hit by something at the end of the year. found myself in the same boat the day after crossing a mileage goal and took the sign to pull back before the new year. goals can be great teachers regardless of whether we succeed or fail. keep setting em and rack up the lessons learned
Your goal inspired me to set a big goal of my own. Ended up running 143% more KM’s than last year and hit 2,500 KM on New Year’s Eve. I’m really looking forward to seeing what you do next!
Thanks for sharing. Sucks to hear you were so sick, but I’m sure you will feel amazing when you can finally get back to your routine. Get well, try to have a Happy New Year. You will be back. 💪🏼💪🏼
Had the flu a couple of weeks back and was shivering for 6 days straight which I’ve never had for that long. Took a week off and been back running for about a week but HR is still super high. Body rejects any speed work. Very frustrating but this flu is no joke man. Hope your feeling 100% soon 👍🏻
I got sick three times in the last two months and it was the most frustrating thing because my 16 week marathon block now became a 12 week block with less fitness then I had in fall but some thing aren’t in our control it’s been three weeks of training again and I feel like I’m finally having a breakthrough again! Take care if yourself and you’ll be back in no time!!! 2025s gonna be a bad year to be a sub 2:30 marathon ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Grande Floberg! Você teve um bom ano! Faz parte! Influenza não é brincadeira! Tem horas que temos que nos recuperar e enfrentar as próximas batalhas! Vai dar tudo certo! Vamoooo!
Was right there with you just a couple weeks back - it was no joke. Happy to hear you’re doing better, and that you chose to recover. Get well soon Eric! We can’t wait to see what you crush in 2025!
I got Influenza A on the 27th and MAN it kicked my butt. I’m lucky that the only leftovers (as of the 1st) are burning lungs while running and the occasional productive cough, but this sucker is no joke! Hang in there, hopefully this sucker leaves us both all the way alone soon!
Eric, it sounds like you made a great decision. And I’ll speak for me, it makes that decision easier for us mortals to make who need to rest when we would prefer to grind harder. Thanks for setting the good example. 💪
Bro. I feel the sick thing. I got a small injury (tendonitis) on my ankle... had to give up my BQ goal for CIM. A week after CIM, I got sick... so had to push my new training plan, for a half marathon PR in March, back a week... I started the plan, felt really good about it... now I'm sick again this week. It feels so demoralizing sometimes. But we have to remember, progress is not always linear. Thats what keeps me going.
Get well dude. I can empathise. Got COVID twice… some sniffles and a headache. Second time I did 3 x 10k runs that week. Got Influenza-A… like I was hit by a truck. Suddenly understood how people die from it. Absolutely horrendous and experience.
Man what an awful way to end an otherwise awesome year, but good that you got some rest. Hope you still were able to have a good Christmas and get a happy new year’s otherwise 🙏2025 is looking bright, hoping for many more highs for you in the new year 🔥
Transparency, and relatability is what I love about all of your content. There are no fake times, no fake efforts, no fake feelings or emotions. You continue to motivate and teach day in and day out. Continue to get better because I know your next block is going to be your strongest one! 🐶 💪🏽
You crushed 2024 sir. I know the finish wasn’t quite what we wanted or expected but it was inspiring watching your journey throughout the year. Let’s get you healthy and ready to tackle 2025 💪🏽
Health is everything. Without it you can't do what you do. Rest up, get better and then get back to running.. And "failing" is part of the journey. It means you are trying to do hard things. Keep setting crazy goals, and if you fall short, whatever.
I got sick with the flu the 2nd day of the holidays, barely made Christmas Day. 🙁 Not been able to run in 12 days, which sucks. Health is more important, hope you get better soon 🤞 you'll be back stronger and better than before 💪
Bro, it's all good. I remember early December when I saw you putting in those big milage days chasing that number, I said to myself "oh boy..." When I was prepping for my first marathon in September (which I completed and did fairly well) I got injured in early july and missed 2 weeks training so in August/September I over-compensated and ramped my milage way up trying to hit big weekly milage numbers, annihilated the 10% rule...and then after the marathon itself...BOOM. I was destroyed. Overtraining syndrome. I was sick for weeks. It happens. Edit: I want to thank you for a large amount of inspiration you gave me this year. Your enthusiasm is infectious and I ran 1000 miles this year...1011% more than 2023.
It's possible that you were pushing your body so hard the last year, that your immune system tanked. Then with a sickness, it knocked you down for longer than expected. Praying for a speedy recovery. Still want to see you run that ultra.
Loved your vids through the year, really helped keep me motivated, and did a few PB's. With that being said; I say this with all the love, but your 3k miles felt so arbitrary that it feels like a "that sucks but okay it happens" that you didn't even need to 'address' it lol Here's to a speedy recovery and to a speedy New Year🎉
Seriously, I have so much respect for you that you took care of your body versus pushing yourself beyond what was healthy. Save your body for the running you will do in 2025.
it's so hard to back down and step back from running - especially when you've put so much time in. Whether it be sickness or family or responsibilities greater - it's hard to put it on the shelf.
As you know, 3k is not the defining moment of your 2024. It’s frustrating but what you’ve accomplished and the impact you have on so many of us is the definition of your 2024! Hope you continue to feel better and here’s to a healthy and successful 2025!
Influenza A is brutal, I rarely have a flu and that one kicked my ass last year during christmas, trashed my fitness, took me several months to get to the same point as I was before…
I did 1,100 miles for this year and I'm on top of the world right now, I can't imagine how I'd feel if I ever ran your mileage! Not 3k but dang that's a lot of miles, congrats dude! Hope this next year your full of health!
I'm with you. I didn't make my 3000km goal due to injuries and illness. I thought i could have rolled 200km in Dec, but my body had other plans. It is not the end all or be all to reach 3K Km as a runner. It's more of an ego thing.
Something to consider, if you run as much as you do your cortisol levels rise which makes you more susceptible to diseases. Might be explanatory for the fact that you get more sick and catch them quite easily, as cortisol supresses your immune system
Last year I tried hitting 4000km and ended up getting injured with a month to go that took me out for 3 months. I think most times it's not worth it to chase silly mileage goals.
Dude. Just rest and get better. Don't do 5 mile runs or any runs. Just recover. Pushing through when your body is so fragile isn't tough, it's stupid. Don't be stupid.
Aye man, whether you ran 3 miles or 300 miles this year, your Eric MF Floberg. Just happy to have been apart of your journey this year! Excited for 2025, here’s to 4K miles! 👏🏾👏🏾

Hope you're having a good recovery, big fan of your channel Floberg! We’ve built an app that helps athletes train the mental side of the game with guided visualizations and AI journaling. Runners especially seem to love it. Would be cool to explore a collab-mind if I send you an email?
Our guy. If there’s one thing I’ve learned this year, it’s to prioritize my physical health over my “get it done at any costs” mindset. You can’t just ignore your body. Proud of you Floberg, many more miles to come 🫡
Running epitomizes this, understanding where the fine line between when to listen to you body and when your mind.
The *real* flu is no joke. 2-4 weeks of being ultra sick. Extreme fever, coughing, pain in the extremities, being extremely tired - all. the. time... Get well soon dude, take all the time you need! There is no need to rush. All the best in 2025.

Where can I get that amazing bears shirt?
Being honest about your goals, and whether you hit or miss them still posting is inspiring keep up the great work and crush it in 2025!!
Heck of a year Eric! It was crazy motivating seeing you show up day in and day out. This is just a little hurdle that will fuel the fire in 2025 🤟
Health comes first! Either way this year was insane for you. Congrats on everything you accomplished, learned and unlearned. Thanks for sharing your journey with us, here’s to a healthy 2025.

I could have written the exact same comment, floberg gets part of the credit for my 560 miles this year
You've achieved alot this year! Let save some for 2025 aite. Cheers mate, happy new year! Gonna be a great one again for sure!
I hope your feeling better Floberg, your did amazing this year! I’m going to go for a sub 1:30 half in May! Please bring back FAAALLLLLL IN LOVE for the new series!

Get better Floberg! You started your Chicago block sick too and still hit a PR, so all is not lost.
100% - trying to stay positive haha
Sending you all the love and great energy Eric!! This - too - shall pass
Speedy recovery! Thanks for the motivation to get back to after a setback! There is always something that comes up in a training block, it's how you keep the fitness going! Looking forward to your 2025!

Wish you and your family a healthy 2025 🎆👑

@ thank you man! What are you running?
I’ve got Seville and then Paris. I’m doing Paris for fun though.
Chasing that sub 3 dream! :-) yourself?
@@thomsmith3588 awesome man! I’m running Barcelona marathon! It’s gonna be my first and I’m training rn for a sub 3:50 :))

Your 3000 goal inspired me to go a bit extra to get to 1250 miles on the year, which I hit yesterday. Feel better!
Praying for ya to feel better soon sir. Looking forward to seeing what you do in 2025!
Eric, it sounds like you made a great decision. And I’ll speak for me, it makes that decision easier for us mortals to make who need to rest when we would prefer to grind harder. Thanks for setting the good example. 💪
You still rocked 2024 and sometimes the flu rocks you, appreciate the update and fully expect a 100% recovery AND MORE from you 🤘🏻

It's possible that you were pushing your body so hard the last year, that your immune system tanked. Then with a sickness, it knocked you down for longer than expected. Praying for a speedy recovery. Still want to see you run that ultra.
No good mate. I hit 5,000km and I am stoked. Rest up. 2025 baby! Let's gooo!!
See you in ‘25 mate, stay strong and work smart for the long haul!
all the best king🙏🏾🙌🏾
Caught the SAME thing man! Infl A. Its a bummer. Hope we get well soon.

Our fam had the same thing go through at the same time- feel for ya and it sucks when it happens!
Currently sick as well, and every night is horrible. Missing a handful of my December goals because of it, so you are definitely not alone.
Hope you get better soon!!
Influenza A is brutal, I rarely have a flu and that one kicked my ass last year during christmas, trashed my fitness, took me several months to get to the same point as I was before…

I’m just getting over something called “walking pneumonia” and it was fucking brutal man. Get well soon.
Didn't let anyone down! This is out of your control and honestly it's more inspiring to see how you deal with setbacks. Feel better soon !
Something to consider, if you run as much as you do your cortisol levels rise which makes you more susceptible to diseases. Might be explanatory for the fact that you get more sick and catch them quite easily, as cortisol supresses your immune system
Sick runners unite
Nah, I get the flu vaccine every year and never get sick.
Can't remember what a flu or cold feels like.
You had a heck of a year, think of this as a hard reset on your body after beating the piss out of it for 11 months.. On to 2025
Last year I tried hitting 4000km and ended up getting injured with a month to go that took me out for 3 months. I think most times it's not worth it to chase silly mileage goals.
The new anamorphic is super 35 right? Did you crop in post or is there really no vignette?
ITS OK MAN WE STILL HERE FOR YOU ❤
Get well soon
Hell of a year.
coming back to 2025 strong. gotta do 5,000 miles
Dude. Just rest and get better. Don't do 5 mile runs or any runs. Just recover. Pushing through when your body is so fragile isn't tough, it's stupid. Don't be stupid.
Aw man that sucks, the ebb and flow of the body. On ya floberg, keep at it!
come back stonger, bro! 🍾🥳
Make sure you get your flu shots next year!
Aye man, whether you ran 3 miles or 300 miles this year, your Eric MF Floberg. Just happy to have been apart of your journey this year! Excited for 2025, here’s to 4K miles! 👏🏾👏🏾
Much love!!
Floberg! Please, do not train yet. There is no fitness to be gained in the state you‘re in right now but a lot of irreversible damage that you can do. Take another 1-2 weeks to recover fully.
See you in 2025 Flo!
My man
Dude it’s gonna be fine. Take care of yourself. But can I suggest you get tested for MS? I say this because of the description you gave about you getting sicker than everyone else. This is how they found out about my mom. Her whole life she always got sicker for longer than everyone. And would catch anything going around. That plus some other symptoms led the doctors to investigate. Once diagnosed and starting treatment the crazy sickness thing was mitigated.
I’m having to do 72 miles in 48 hours - still 16 to go in 11 hours. #3000milegrind
Tbh you shouldn’t have run today ….let it get out of your system completely, take care
Could be a yeast infection.
Uhmm brother nothing to hang your head about here. This was a last minute goal you put on yourself. YOU have to take care of YOU! Hell of a try take care of your body please we need a sub 3:30 marathoner not a 3K miler
Luckily we arent from the 1500s
Bro, get an IV vitamin cocktail bag. I hear they’re great .
Hope you're having a good recovery, big fan of your channel Floberg! We’ve built an app that helps athletes train the mental side of the game with guided visualizations and AI journaling. Runners especially seem to love it. Would be cool to explore a collab-mind if I send you an email?
