    You could put acetate other spaceship wall to make it appear as though it's a huge glass window so that way you're not covering up that now beautiful wall. I'm sure you have ideas to make it keep the eye moving around the project. I do adore all of the projects you make and I get much inspiration for painting and I learn a lot from you. Thank you so much, Ara! 🤗

    I was a picture framer for 32 years. I am a master framer. I started making miniatures when I was very young. I am retired, as a Catholic Monk. Foamboard can warp for several reasons. I suggest that if you dampen the shortest side it will expand and it will be strait again. The shortest side is the roof, the longest is the ceiling. Then put the weight back on overnight. If you reglue, you will need to tape the edge so it will not come back up. Getting the foam board hot is not necessary. Just try to keep all your materials at 74° or above, with a humidity of at least 65%. The foam board is best held togather with ATG tape!!! Try mat boards with a mini wallpaper design, instead of the wallpaper itself. You can stick it to foam board with ATG then cut them both at once. If you cut the mat and foam board at a 45° angle, you can glue the two corners togather without a seam. That is all the tips I have on foam board for now. I need to watch more of your videos, to see how you do things in different scales. Brother James Kendall Moore OSB OFS OSC.

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  2 года назад +9

      Thank you for all the tips on working with foam board. I really like the material but often struggle with it once I start adding all my finishes. I looked up ATG tape and I wonder if you would consider it a permanent adhesive? As strong as glue would be? That would be my only concern, but obviously using something 'dry' to adhere things together helps avoid all that warping so it could be helpful to have! Thank you!

    • @tinykeyholeminis
      @tinykeyholeminis 2 года назад

      That's great info 👍! Specially cause I just mentioned I'm having an issue with this! But I've already figured out that I should of used mat board ..even if I decide to glue it to the foam or not, it's gonna work out better, and ik they will get better as I go! Thank you it was great of you to share that! I have mine all taped up with painters tape, and thought ok maybe I will just add something to the exterior to kinda clean it up a bit, but haven't figured it out yet!

    It looks incredible. I like the idea of beams as a kind of _transitional support, partial armature._ After all, the rigors of space travel would be rough on a 17th century building. It already looks *very* believable though, so even without beams, it's clearly from two completely different eras - the point of the project.

      Yes I agree. Sort of like a walkway so "people" can walk along and look out of the spaceship viewing ports or look into the Captain's quarter through the stained glass windows. Likewise on the lower level, the crew would be walking about to effect maintenance, so possibly smaller viewing ports.
      This would be 'practical' as well as being able to see your terrific metalwork. 💖👋👋👋

    Not to add cost to your projects, however you can get foamboard from, "Bienfang"in; 1/8, 3/16,(1/4)1/2, 3/4, 1", 2," in acid free, acid free blk./black. And regular white in the same measurements. The benefit of acid free is that it is cotton, and black core, is more sturdy. You will save the product cost in assembly time. Also, if you use 3m super77 spray glue, the board, to foamboard glue time is 90 seconds. (It is reversible if placed incorrectly.)

    As a major Star Trek fan I just love how Spaceshippey your walls are looking. Plus now I want to build a space ship (although I am referring to a life-size one, not a doll-size), Yay for not having enough room.
    PS maybe an 'observation deck' style window is an option for this lovely wall to remain visible. :}

    I also use the diamond painting diamonds for rivets. They look great xx

    Looks really cool so far. Also those plastic disposable straws with the bend necks, those bendy necks can be used to make like duct work

    Girlfriend you are amazing. The 'metal' detailing is absolutely wonderful. It is a shame you won't be able to see it all, but at least, some will be visible.🤟🤟🤟

    That "metal sheeting" wall makes me want to build a booknook that looks like a spaceship corridor.

    Novtains Quarvember.
    Yeah, Captain's November's probably the best you'll do. Oh well. Looking forward to seeing this project continue!

    I love the way this side of the ship turned out! 🥰 Will we be having Captain's November again in '22? Such a fun project! I look forward to all the Captain's videos. :)

    This looks great...Maybe you could make the spaceship-wall just partial, so that the captain's wall is still visible.

    I would quickly finish off the “inside” of the wiring/battery compartment with a black wash - nothing extravagant, just to safeguard against the white foamboard being seen from odd viewing angles. Loving it though and now I need to go back and watch the other videos.

    Ara, I have so many diamond dots left over, and this is the first acceptable mini use I've seen for them. I could do a whole wall of my studio/livingroom in Greebles. Thanks for teaching me a new word, too! I love the way you think, and all your creative ways of getting the results you want. Plus, the great results themselves. I'm excited to see where you're going with this project.

      Sounds like you definitely need to make some mini metal walls in the future too!! I feel like I used so many but didn't even make a dent in the pile she gave me lol! So glad you enjoyed the video!

    Maybe add some big "observation" deck style windows to that exterior wall...they are popular in space ship designs and we could "peak" in to see all the detail inside!
