The Staten Island Ferry. That should have been added to this video. Its Free, Its a one of a kind experience for every visitor to NYC. Won't get this experience anywhere else. By the way Citi field is a much better experience and yes i'm a Mets Fan since the 60's. Now we got the best owner in Baseball Steve Cohen. Hal Steinbrenner is no where close to his Father. George. He was a hands on Owner. Only time it was a good season is when they won the world series. I would also add the museum of natural history as a one of a kind only in NYC experience. Will take 2 days to see it all.

Everyone needs to go to a bodega, eat a local sandwich, and just take part in the experience… And then go back to your city and realize that you have them there in the form of corner stores or delis… except yours may not have the cat or the bewildering hype

    Dear Jon,
May 1 of this year I will go to New York for the 3rd time in 14 months.
March 21, 2022 I celebrated my birthday with a friend and did everything every tourist should do in New York. 911 museum, The Edge, Summit, Top of the Rock, Empire state Building etc.
June 28th I went alone to see New York as a novice amateur smartphone street photography and saw and photographed quite a lot. Also took the fireworks of July 4 on a boat and in May of this year I will come for the 3rd time to immerse myself even more in the history and the real New York, Green-Wood Cemetery brooklyn, New York Catacombs by Candlelight, Streetart stairway hotel M, brooklyn street art walking tour, New York public Library, crown statue if liberty and many more.
Your videos helped me a lot with planning and what to do or not to do, where to eat, what to see and so on. Especially the "hidden gems" has brought me a lot of ideas.
My to do/see list is almost finished and I want to thank you so much for your tips and advice.
See you in May and maybe a 4th time..

Glad I stayed till the end of the video. I used to take my students to NYC as often As often as was permitted by my school system in central Jersey. One trip my students enjoyed was a visit to the United Nations for our morning visit. We had a guided tour with only my students attending. Since I taught Spanish, I requested that our guide focus on how the United Nations is a great source for employment for those who have mastered more than one language. The guides working at the UN always had interesting personal stories of their experiences to tell. We then walked to MOMA. They explored the museum on their own for 2 hours. We ended our day with a visit to a Spanish restaurant at the corner of 50th and 9th Ave. It was one of the few authentic Spanish restaurants at the time in Manhattan. Unfortunately the owners retired from the restaurant business and went back to Spain. Thanks for bringing back some great memories. De Elaine la profe en NJ

I've done 10 out of 11 of these things while living in NYC for a few years. The only one I haven't done is the observation deck at the World Trade Tower since it was still under construction while I was living there. I have also never done the tour at the UN building because I didn't know they had a tour to offer there, so I will have to check that out when I get to go back and visit.
I will add one thing to the sports part that was missed that you can only do in NYC is the US Open. I got to go once, one year and it was such an amazing experience to spend the day watching various tennis matches being played by the greatest tennis players. I went when it was still the old courts, so I am looking forward to returning some day to see the new courts that have been built.

And also because the Tom Hanks movie, Big, was filmed at the handball courts next door. Oh and....the now Dominique Ansels bakery is also near there? The racism since I arrived at JFK was extremely noticeable and throughout my stay. Rudeness of the peolpe, the running, pushing, etc. was just too much for me. But where’s the Times Square?! Kidding really nice list! To me it’s about unique experiences like midnight moment in Times Square, walking the High Line park or narrow streets downtown, night life in the village, chess hustlers in Washington square park, etc :)

actually first and 2nd ave are shut completely during meetings at the UN. Actionkid had a heck of a time trying to find a way around that gigantic mess of a street as it was blocked by security, police, and UN personnel. he went earlier last year i think.

Hammerstein ballroom where ECW had it's home until the buyout by WWE. MSG had legendary events like the wrestlemania where Edge tackled Mick Foley through a Flaming table as a closer. near that is the iron chef battle site where iron chef japanese destroyed Bobby flay which, bobby won the second time in tokyo. Momoito worked at Nobu around that time until he started his own restaurant on restaurant row. lots of great events around new york city you just have to look it up.

I'm about to make a trip to Brooklyn in a few days for Lunar New Year. I was wondering if I should rent a car for the 4 day trip or use public transportation.
What's the cost for parking like? I don't know if I want to walk a mile to a bus stop or Metro in the blistering cold weather.
What's the cost associated with either?
