Hi Kun, your videos are a gold mine for software engineers of all levels. Could not thank you enough. Your videos are almost perfect for the target audience [better microphone will make them 100/100].

Even though I'm still a junior I still feel like I can learn and apply these videos to my own life. Also... I like how the numbers in front of your tower are always relevant to the video! 😂

Hehe I was just wondering who's going to be the first that notices it. :)
Glad you find this useful! I definitely agree - everyone no matter where you are at with your career, knowing these core skills can always be helpful!

@@kunchenxyz Not to demean you but most of the advice you've pointed out does apply to mid-level engineers only.
Atleast principal engineers at big firms are responsible for the success of the whole org or across orgs. I didn't find any valid advice for principals in this video. Nevertheless its informative and useful 👍

@Manish - being responsible for orgs requires principal engineers to understand how to establish their influence effectively. I've seen many examples where seasoned principals fail to do so because they expect others to follow them based on their authority without intentionally spending time build trust - hence I felt there's a need for awareness for these concepts. If the principals around you all have mastered this - that's a good sign! :)

Amazing video as always! Glad to know you are at Microsoft! I also spent 10.5 years of my career at this amazing company! I'm at Snowflake now.
If you don't mind answering, have you always been at Microsoft? If not, which companies did you work at? Which division at Microsoft you are now?
Also have you read Leading without Authority by Keith Ferrazzi? Amazing book that I'd recommend for any L63+ struggling to increase their influence. Specially the part on building trust between others. I'm learning to apply the book at my job as well. Building trust takes time. Very precise advice on how to build trust: Keep your promises.

Thanks Arpan! I did read that book as well - it's a great one! A lot of my learnings came from applying good books like that into real scenarios.
I started at Microsoft and switched to Facebook for a couple of years. Earlier this year I returned to Microsoft working under the experiences and devices division.
