Other than the news coverage, being mentally ill and alcoholism has nothing to do with being a rich celebrity. This same thing is happening to average people everyday. I am very grateful she didn't kill anyone and my heart breaks for the woman who lost her home. My heart goes out to Anne too and all people who have tortured minds. Hate and judgement only adds to the problem.

It probably would be best if God came and got her. She is just a famous person. What she did was herendous. It could have been anything or anybody in that garage. It could have been gasoline for a lawn mower in the garage, propane,or anything. We have a serious mental illness issues that is still being taken lightly. We learned nothing from People like Whitney, Naomi, and Robin the comedian. You see it in Simone Biles and Osaka. But mental illness costs a lot if money and time to treat. And the resources are not being allocated. It really is scary in so many ways.

He was not a burn patient, but many patients were. One lady came in, in a wheel chair bandaged head to toe. She only had her mouth and eyes exposed. She looked so sad, so tired, so torchered. She never spoke. I can't imagine the pain she endured. Debridement had to be pure torcher. Lucky, she had a good family with her. One day I ask the nurse what had happened. She was in a house fire. My God! This brings back horrific memories of my 21 year old daughter recovering from burns in her college apartment fire. I'm an RN and had no idea just how bad burns are. My daughter was burnt over 30percent of her body and was in a medically induced coma for a month. We almost lost her a couple times in that month. The recovery is at a minimum 18 months. The scarring and healing process is extremely painful. Narcotics don't really relieve the pain. Nothing really does. Dressing changes were unbearable. I took her home and remember she was so weak, I had to open her yoplait yogurt containers, yes, those little aluminum foil like lids. The energy it takes to heal required my little 5ft 2inch, 110 pound daughter to consume 5000 calories a day. One other little kicker is your apetite is GONE as a burn patients. I cried watching Anne Heche flail in unbelievable pain on that stretcher. My daughter 15 years later told me she often wondered why the medical staff tried so hard to save her because she wanted to die.

We all have bad days and whatever degree and for whatever reason they caused by isn’t an excuse to be irresponsible and unsafe and destroy someone else’s quality of life all because you have issues!! You have issues get help! This wasn’t an accident it was a decision a very poor decision that was preventable and not ten minutes before this crash people were telling her to get out of the car from the first bad decision she made but she refused and ran hard and fast to not be caught?! Sure seems that way. Not like it was human error that she was going to take responsibility for hitting someone’s garage. Nope she didn’t get out of the car and apologize and try to find someone to resolve the damage with…nope she threw it in reverse and burned her tires and got the fuck out of there as fast as that car would go! You don’t want people to judge her for that? Please! I would bet if that was your home and family that came 2 feet from being a hood ornaments you wouldn’t be talking like this. Just saying I respect that you have an opinion but in my opinion there is nothing about this whole event that says human error. That poor lady in that home it’s not her fault she has childhood issues she was minding her own business and bam her life will never be the same Anne passed on the trauma and mental issue thing to an innocent person. Sad and yes she deserves to be judged for her horrible actions!

I usually never respond on these things, but I don't get the level of vitriol against Ms. Heche. Whatever happened may have been negligent, or grossly negligent, but I don't get a sense she intended to hurt anyone, and most likely didn't want herself hurt. She's not being watched by the police, because she's on a ventilator with significant burns and smoke inhalation injuries, and may die. So people should have empathy and sympathy. I hope she recovers. Then the law and justice will take over. Until she recovers, we should just be wishing her well.

Bad decisions still take lives and livelihoods from innocent people. You don't become a "bad person" by being born that way! You become a "bad person" by rationalizing and continuing your bad decisions! So unless this was medical and nothing she did contributed to it, I may be more sympathetic. But when you have on-going trends of behavior that show up your disregard for others, then it is fair to hold them accountable.
If she was drunk or on meds or drugs, then she is completely culpable. She owes someone a home.
If she is that weak with her self-discipline, it is unlikely she will endure the pain and effort that her physical recovery alone, will demand of her.
She deserves NO leniency with the privilege of driving anymore. That speed could have easily cost children and adults their lives. Just like the recent case of the woman who killed 6 people.
If people are not disciplined enough to be motivated to learn to change, why do they continue to deserve multiple chances to go on risking others?!?
The lady that killed the 6 people already was in 13 accidents. She should have served jail time and increasing fines until she could no longer afford a car, imo. She might have not murdered 6 innocents as a result.

If they were unbelievably painful then they weren't 3rd degree burns! 3rd degree burns, while more life threatening and do more damage to the tissues, don't actually hurt very much...if any. This is due to the fact that as the burn severely damages the tissues, it also burns off and deadens the NERVE ENDINGS...so you don't feel the pain after the initial start of the burn. 2nd Degree burns are what you had if you were in excruciating pain. They aren't as deep in the body's tissue, so the nerve endings remain intact and are therefore MUCH more painful than 3rd degree burns. I'm not saying your burn wasn't a significant burn, there's just a misconception that 3rd degree burns are the most painful, when that just isn't the case. All ER physicians, and All general medical doctors know this....so I really hope it wasn't a doctor that told you it was a 3rd degree burn if you could still feel excruciating pain. When you receive a bad burn, it's more alarming when you DON'T feel pain in the immediate area.
