I wouldn't say so much tricky but it is a good testament to how well he was able to blend the movements together. That said, just looking at the score would have told them when the third movement started.

@far ema i don't think it's poor or bad at all i just think dynamics could have been more defined and it could have been slower (esp in 1st and third mvmt) and definitely heavier/dug into the strings more (if that makes sense). this is just my personal preference tho.

I love how the beginning of the third movement is, in a different way, a return of the first notes from the main theme of the first movement.
It is actually quite different, but similar enough.

You score is wrong. The third movement starts slow at 20:02 instead of 20:50. This is why Mendelssohn violin concerto is tricky.
