Been there in a visit to Boston and loved it. Had a beer and took selfies all over. A great experience for fans of the show. But you will comment as you walk in that it's not like the set but still so welcoming.
Love this show, still watch it. I have gone to Cheers Beacon Hill (Bull and Finch Pub), 84 Beacon Street so many times. Also gone to Cheers Faneuil Hall. Must say, it was much better at Beacon Hill, great and fun experience with family and friends. Great times!! 🍺❤️😍🙌
I went to Boston thirty-one years ago [I'm 50 now] just to see that sign. The sign said Cheers and had an arrow pointing down the stairs. I knew that the show was filmed elsewhere it was just cool to see it.
I visited it back in 1999 when this Brit visited Boston. Lovely place. Although I did notice a strange light about the city and put that down to the tall buildings creating a kind of twighlight.
I watched the 1974 Super Bowl at that location. It was named "The Townhouse Pub" at the time. The stairs on the ground level led to "The Townhouse Restaurant." (no admittance without a tie I learned the hard way) The interior was much different, much less "crowd" friendly on big days like the Super Bowl. I was relatively new in Boston and Super Bowl Sunday was my first visit to the pub. The game was boring, the Dolphins beat the Vikings 24-7. I returned there occasionally but it was never a regular stop. It was exciting to see the entrance and the staircase down to the door on the opening credits to "Cheers." I completely identified. I lived in Dallas at the time; my companions watching TV that night barely blinked at my enthusiasm about seeing a place I used to frequent. I chalked it up that they just had never been anyplace worth talking about!
The Bull & Finch Pub aka: “Cheers” was more than just a drinking emporium for local Bostonians. It was a conservatory of outstanding dramatic and comedic acting. Cheers! 😊 🍻
the show was the main reason why i wanted to own a bar besides going to many bars in my life where i became sort of like the norm of the places i went to.
I got to visit the Bull & Finch Pub in Boston back in 1989. I was on tour with a band called Hothouse Flowers from Dublin Ireland. While we were in California, I met 2 girls from Polygram records. They promised me that they would show me around Boston when we got there. Having forgotten all about it, I tied one on the night before in Boston. I was awakened by a knock on my door. It was the 2 girls. I just wanted to go back to sleep, I had a doozy of a hangover. They wasn't having it. Reluctantly I obliged, and off we went. I was really glad that I did. They drove me past Harvard and other places, followed by parking, and walking to the pub. True to life, we walked down the side steps, I was excited just doing that. As the video shows that's where the changes take place. As soon as you open the door. We walked around the place, I bought a really cool cheers beer mug, and a t-shirt. To the right of the bar is a hallway that has pictures on the wall as you walk down it. We sat at the bar and had a few beers. I wish we had the capabilities with our cell phones as we have now. I had taken "alot" of pictures from coast to coast. Some while watching a lift-off of the space shuttle at a nearby beach. I remember wanting to have a few rolls developed while we were on sunset strip in California. We were staying at the Hyatt right next to the comedy store. (Great rooftop pool there) I can't remember how much they wanted for one roll of film, but I remember it being outrageous. I took most of my film home with me. As time went on, I never found the film. So so many memories lost forever. The Bull & Finch pub being one of them. I was so bummed out. Great coverage here. Such fond memories. I miss them ..
Wow. I didn't start watching the show until after mid 90s. I sure loved it 💗 I also would love to visit both places. Bummer about the one closing down :( Thanks for the info 👍
There’s only one Cheers. It was the best sitcom of its time. Every thing since then has been shit. It’s why I don’t own a tv, or subscribe to a rip-off cable tv company.

It was a TV set with extras. The real bar in Boston looks very different.
