Coming home to an empty house is hard. I need a person to share my day with and share her day. Conversation is very important to me at the end of my day. I do have a dog who greets me when i come home from a hard day of working.

I "co-habitated" with a GF ( she moved in, for over 6 years) and when she was employed, which she was off and on, I asked her to chip in to help... it didn't happen more than 20% of the time, and i was paying her cellphone bill for a while as well. Worse than that though, she would often run me out of groceries, and not feel the need to put them on the list for the next shopping trip . THEN, she begged me to get a cat, and she did find a wonderful rescue, BUT over the years she ( the cat) had 2 hospital visits, costing me over $2500, and she said she would reimburse me, but that never happened either ( I ended up keeping the cat) Live and learn, it's a nice thought, but in reality.. not a working model.

Those who are not legally married often do pay a higher percentage in their tax filings as opposed to their wedded counterparts. The population of single people and those who have never been in an intimate relationship has been on the rise since the early 1970s but has become most pervasive the last 2 decades.
