"i look like i get all my vitamins" is my summer lewk for 2023 QUEEEN
Looking forward to your books on food videos!!
i loooove sexing the cherry - jeanette's writing is so gleefully strange and confident i'm just happy to be along for the ride lol. but written on the body and the passion are less up in the clouds even tho they have their own magical realism to them. if you enjoyed the writing i recommend! oranges are also great but the "memoir" parts (in the introduction she says the answer to whether this book is auto fiction is 'no and of course it is'), which is strange in itself of course, are broken up by a very odd fairytale, so it might be more outside your comfort zone. still worth it for her writing on religion though even if you don't vibe with the magic 😋
ooh okay i will definitely pick that up soon!!
u mentioning sexing the cherry and confessions of the fox in the same video made me think a bit about their similaritities in a way.... i think they kinda work as a pair of books about queer time, history, memory, archives, the grotesque, fairy tale.... so that's intersting! if you pick up confessions soon i'd love to know if you agree & what u think in general. i think i read sexing the cherry about two yrs ago now and i did enjoy it, not as much as my fave jeanette winterson books but it was interesting to see what else she was doing & i did enjoy that their was the perspective of a giant gross dog woman! 💕
so interesting - definitely makes me keen to pick up confessions of the fox sooner rather than later! what is your favorite winterson??
@@noorsbookshelf tough question but fiction wise definitely oranges are not the only fruit [altho i do rly need to reread it !] & her memoir why be happy when you could be normal? which is oviously a fab title. i also think the passion is fun, a bit like sexing the cherry but slightly more straight forward, but that one i did like better as a teenager. ☺
Winterson is what i'd describe as horny Vonnegut! crass and sexy. i'm always enamored by the experience of reading Winterson because i give up on understanding what the story is about, but it's always fun to see how Winterson tracks time, especially queer time, through history.
yes!! i think i definitely need to try more winterson without trying to make sense of it! love the writing style!!
Noor's Kitchen youtube drop when??
soon inshallah 🙏🏽
Thank u for the detailing the plot of sexing the cherry because now I know I would not enjoy it
Cookbook review please!
yesss definitely!!
