No lie. I follow A LOT of other producers and music makers on RUclips(I’m sure many of you do) from Reid Stefan to Dave Pensado to Mixbus TV. Their tutorials are amazing. With that being said, this channel(mixcraft) is seriously a gold mine in finding some great informational tips for mixing/audio production. Your RUclips channel quality went up like crazy. I can’t emphasize how good this channel is which is why I recommend those who are looking to level up, to subscribe and like. Anyways, thank you mixcraft! 🙌
Hey man, so I just recorded drums for an album, and once again you come out with a video that helps, like you knew what I was doing, lol. This process comes after a general gain staging using pink noise I would think and then is just volume adjusted to ear. Adding color to the sound after getting the initial levels. Wow, perfect video exactly on target topic for me. Thanks so much Cameron! So, if I were to have to reset and go back to Pink Noise stage.... Do you mute the parallel compression and then add it back in by ear? The parallel compression side chains, side chains in general do not go through Pink Noise gain staging, is that correct?
We're glad you enjoyed the video! As for mixing with the pink noise method, extra effects and processing like parallel compression are best dialed in by ear as typically they are used as a subtle enhancement rather than a 'feature focus' of the track. If you blend it in with pink noise, it'd likely be way too loud to be useful. Instead, it'd be best to level it in slowly just until you can hear it start to come in too loud, then back it off a bit!
Is it possible to come across phasing issues when doing Parallel Processing? I haven't yet come across any phasing problems when doing this in Mixcraft but I've heard that this problem can exist when doing parallel compression.
With some time based effects or extreme filtering moves you could end up with some phasing issues. However, with most things this shouldn't be an issue or noticeable. But, if you're ever unsure, summing to mono is a good way to double check!
So I followed the steps in your video exactly for a drum track that I have, but when I play the drum track solo, and add the send track, there's like a 1 second delay between the both of them I can't seem to fix without turning down the send 1 knob on the drums track. Any fix?
PLEASE DO A VIDEO ON ARCADE OUTPUT USING MIXCRAFT?!! I understand mixcraft 7, will not work because it is 32 bit, but do other versions of mixcraft work?
We'll note that down on the suggestions! As for 32bit, you would need to upgrade to a version of Mixcraft that is 64bit to use any 64bit products. The latest version of Mixcraft will offer 64bit support so you can always upgrade when you're ready!
When I send the signal from my Drumbus to the "send" Track, I always have a delay, I still tried pre- and post fader, but there is always, is there a solution without exporting the Drumbus ??
You can use the send for more than one track, for one. It's also much easier to compartmentalize, and the parallel compression send can have additional effects applied to it, such as sidechaining. It's a more efficient, controlled workflow
Hey there! Sidechain compression or sidechain processing is using an external signal to control a processor (typically a compressor). Parallel processing is sending a copy of a signal to be processed and then blended in alongside the original.
Hey there! That's entirely up to you really, in most cases this is done post-fader but in certain cases a pre-fader send may be necessary if the level is too low to work!
Hello Dear Mixcraft Engineers! I had a suggestion or request! anyway! some VST instruments like Strings have multiple techniques like pizzicato and staccatos and etc... in order to use them i should duplicate that track (that vst) and choose the technique that i need! this demands more time and effort and uses my CPU a lot and my pc stops to work! can you do something that in next versions we could change the techniques of the vst in the midi editor... like left click the note and choose the technique that there is... is it possible? if mixcraft contains this facility then it will be my one and only DAW! thank you all again for creating amazing daw like this...
I have used a cheat code. I load all instances of the articulations I need, then I set different patches to play at different velocity ranges. I then compensate for volume of each by raising or lowering

What's the preview track for & how to use
Hey there! The preview track controls the volume of audio previews (ie: when you preview a loop or sample in the Library)
Why not simply play with the "wet" versus "dry" ratio on the compressor output level?
You can use the send for more than one track, for one. It's also much easier to compartmentalize, and the parallel compression send can have additional effects applied to it, such as sidechaining. It's a more efficient, controlled workflow
Do sidechain compression
We'll note it down!
I'm a noob. What's the difference between this and sidechain?
Hey there! Sidechain compression or sidechain processing is using an external signal to control a processor (typically a compressor). Parallel processing is sending a copy of a signal to be processed and then blended in alongside the original.
pre or post fader?
Hey there! That's entirely up to you really, in most cases this is done post-fader but in certain cases a pre-fader send may be necessary if the level is too low to work!

If you are using mixcraft midi strings, it can be done using 'program change' in the automation editor.
