    In this video, we'll be covering all the basics of getting started with EQ for music production and mixing! We'll talk about what EQ is and the role it plays, what the features and functions mean, and a basic three step process to get better EQ results in seconds.
    EQ can be a tricky topic and can certainly cause confusion when you're new to production, but by the end of this video we'll (hopefully!) demystify the process so you can get started with EQ in your next mix session without the need for guesswork!

    I have understood what an EQ does, how an EQ works, and how it's used, for many years, but there are certain specific applications in recording audio/music that I needed to learn more about. Nice job communicating and showing these!

      So after adding a plugin for a track bouncing to new track without effects do you mean like that?

    • @nmaikowski8013
      @nmaikowski8013 4 года назад

      @@joelstephensequeira8309 when you bounce to a new track the fx are in the new track. You're literally just mixing down that one track. So on a bus track, I'll take the fx and drop down to the first track in the bus and place all the fx on that track. Bounce that track and move the fx to the next track on the bus that needs a bounce. You can delete old tracks and fx, they are on the new tracks. I recommend saving often and different files so if you realize you messed up by accident then you can easily load back to before the mistake

    • @nmaikowski8013
      @nmaikowski8013 4 года назад

      @@joelstephensequeira8309 pretty much only my busses have tape emulation. All other fx are mixed into the tracks once there are where I want them. Having a cheap $200 computer.... This works absolutely phenomenally well. I have no latency issues or lag in the system. Note that I am a beginner so I'm not giving professional advice. Just a way around CPU and your system

    • @nmaikowski8013
      @nmaikowski8013 4 года назад

      Also to add, all of your bounce tracks are saved. If you want to to go back to a sound you originally created with the track you can easily load it back in. There's really so much you can do with it in so many ways that it's too much to type

    Melodyne tracks in Mixcraft 9 Pro Studio can quite easily crash Mixcraft if there are many segmented Melodyne Audio clips.
    A future video on best practices to record/print/bounce a Melodyne track so that it does not hog up CPU and RAM resources would be swell!

    I'm working on a baby bass sound, some notes are extremely low and strong, others are normal and some sound very faint. I'd like to know how to get an even sound from something like that. I can send you a part of it so you can understand it better and maybe you can do a tutorial for others with this common problem when recording for many people in their studio. Hey there! For that, you'd likely want to look into compression which allows you to reduce the difference between loud and quiet passages in a recording. We'll be doing a video covering compression soon!

      The TB Parametric EQ offers a fixed number of bands. However, you can always add a second EQ in series if more corrections are needed!

    Would be appreciated if you could shed some light on which effects to start with for Vocal and instruments? For example: Should we first use eq or Com? etc. Thanks

    • @acoustica222
      @acoustica222  3 года назад

      Hey there! It really comes down to a case by case basis as there isn't necessarily any one right answer. Different orders give different results, and in some cases one may be more desirable than the other.
      Generally speaking though, you would order your effects like you would on a guitar pedalboard:
      EQ > Compression effects (or other dynamic processors) > Modulation effects (phaser, chorus, etc) > Time based effects (reverb, delay, etc)
      But, when it comes to production, there are no rules and that's the beauty of it! Try out different combinations/orders, and see what fits the track best!

    Would like to better understand the advantages and disadvantages between fx EQ, Mixer EX and Mixer Parametric EQ

    • @acoustica222
      @acoustica222  3 года назад +1

      Hey there! The biggest difference would be the amount of control. The mixer EQ for example has less options than something like the TB Parametric EQ which allows for much finer control of the adjustments you apply. So, ultimately, it comes down to how precise you need to be to get the desired result!
