180 deg. concealed hinge 2

  • This 6 bar mechanism enables the hinge to rotate 180 deg..
    It contains 5 movable links, 5 revolution joints and 2 prismatic joints.
    At close position the hinge is not seen from outside.
    It is used for cabinet doors.

    Thank you. Great project. Quick question: are the small gaps between the wall and the door necessary? Coul it be flush when closed?

      The gaps can be adjusted by repositioning the green parts.

      @@thang010146 thank you. I will try. Also, another question, could I proportionally increase dimensions to make a heavy duty version of this hinge? Would you recommend using bearings? I noticed that different from SOSS hinges for example you have gaps between the arms, whereas in SOSS for example they are tightly close to each other. Any special reason for that? Thank you again.

      Sorry, I only made the animation of the hinge.
      I don't have much experience to answer your questions.

      @@thang010146 great. Thank you. I adjusted some dimensions and added some bronze elements that will make the hinge stronger and work more smoothly. I do t know how to animate, so ai am not sure I didn’t cause any interference in the movements with the modifications. I can send you the new STEP file if you want to try to animate and check if movement is still good (no interference). If it is still good you will have an improved extra strong version to post.

    Thầy ơi e xin mạo mụi hỏi thầy là chi tiết phe cài cố định bánh răng với trục ( Bearing Snap Ring ) có trong thư viện contents của inventor không thầy hay là mình phải vẽ ra ạ !

      The four linkages can be stampings. The axles are straightforward lathe jobs. The ways for prismatic joints might require milling. So, not dirt-cheap. But not necessarily expensive either. (Depending on tolerances, of course, as with everything.)

      @@NickAlexeev As it turns out, I am trying to design a hinge for a custom car that must function in movement exactly as this one does. Tolerances would have to be close to avoid door sag. A one-off production run at a local machine shop for four of these would most likely be in the four figures, dollars wise.

      As I know Autodesk Inventor is mainly for mechanical design.

      Sorry, I did not make the calculation for this mechanism.
      It was built based on "Try and Adjust" method.
      Use CAD files of this video to gat the mechanism dimensions.
