    She's here. The Rogal Dorn tank we've been waiting for. It might barely be halfway through the first month of 2023 but this is the best thing I've painted this year and I don't know what will be able to top this! Thanks to ‪@officialwarhammer‬ I got my hands on the long awaited Rogal Dorn tank, and that transfer sheet, and I couldn't be happier with the results I got from dry brushing it and painting up as many of the extra parts as I could fit on the tank! I hope you enjoy and check out my Cadian playlist as I'll be covering every part of the range as it drops!

    Love your video, I have been a kine modeler for now 52 years, I'm a collector and painter, not a gamer anymore, it's hard in a wheelchair, etc. I have 2 of these brutes in my Army and 15 Leman Russ Battle Tanks,15 Sentinels, and my own rough riders converted 5 cold ones with Catachan Veterans, and I still, haven't finished all my armor, got about 15 more to go. I have three super heavy Tanks Plus 6 Imperial Knights and my air fleet of 8 support fighters three valkyries, 10 pieces of Artillery, and captured enemy vehicles converted for my catachan Army. In one tank video you asked about the colours of the treads on a tank. In WW1 they were painted to a degree. During WW2 that depended on the nation, from bare (dark metal) to blackened metal to painted. However in Togal you can see the rubber pads on the treads. They'd be black, rubber, whatever. Mist tanks use those nowadays, started during WW1. Russian tanks used (mostly) bare metal. The road wheels would have either the rubber tires or just be painted metal. Naturally the areas that rub together will polish into bright metal. Very little dirt there. :)
    On the Rogal you can see those higher rectangle blocks on the treads inside the lower rectangle. The inner part would be rubber, I think.

    Ok so i have watched this video several times since it has been released. I fully plan to paint all my Cadian Tanks this way. However I have a question.
    When you are stippling the layers on, do you COMPLETELY cover every inch, or do you leave a little for the previous layer to poke through so yo say?

    • @MediocreHobbies
      @MediocreHobbies  10 дней назад +1

      Not covering every inch. You’re aiming for a sort of mottled appearance. Like a tank that has been repainted a few times. If you just have a flat solid single colour it will just look like a toy tank. You go heaviest with the darkest layer and then lighter(less) with each layer as you go through the colours. Each layer shows more of the previous layer. I hope that makes sense?

    Anybody know the army painter equivalents to:
    Castellan Green
    Waagh Flesh
    Loren Forest
    I have all of these in citadel, but 'm afraid I will be dangerously low on all by the end of this tank. Instead of buying the citadels to refill my droppers, I'm probably going to go with a cheaper brand of paint thats close enough a match.

    The painting was lovely and the tank is really cool. However, 70 Euros for a tank that is not even completely closed? Jesus christ, most scale model kits are cheaper, have more detail and best of all are fully enclosed. • @hybridstringsmusic194

      @Mediocre Hobbies because at the end of the day that tank has a hole in it. It is not a complete model and is meant to be a premium kit, which certainly comes with a premium price. It is nothing more than a cost saving exercise and the savings will definitely not be passed onto the customer lol

    • @TheSegert
      @TheSegert Год назад +1

      @@MediocreHobbies It matters a lot. GW prices are soaring last decades. For 70 euros i would at least expect a bottom. It would not cost them that much to have a small upgrade sprue to make room for a bottom on the main sprue. They make 90 percent or more profit on these kits.
      Its ridiculous. I buy GW models because they are cool and are a full model. These are not full models. Everytime i would pick up the tank to see the missing bottom. I would feel depressed inside. And feel like ive been stolen from.
      For that reason i wont be buying this kit for my traitor guardsmen(using loyalist guardsmen rules). Guess baneblades, Leman russes and the accassional forgeworld tank should do the trick.

      @@MediocreHobbies it makes it look like a cheap toy rather than a model. Obviously we are all going to see things differently, but let me ask you this: do you paint the bottom of your tanks? If you don't, because it won't be seen, then I can understand why it doesn't bother you. Otherwise, you must see where we're coming from.
      Also, it seems strange given that GW have gone to great lengths recently to make things look more and more realistic, both in appearance and how they work "in universe", and this is the complete opposite and kills immersion.
