- Well I'm back on my old channel, and it feels great! I'm free to shoot the bows that I want to shoot and make the films that I want to make. You'll have to bear with me, as moving from Merlin, I have lost all my fancy filming equipment, so it might take me a while to build up to some better gear.
But this is a little film that i made back in November that comes straight from the heart, where me and a couple of buddies headed out in to a private section of forest for a bit of stumping...
Please enjoy!

The music in this video was provided by Bensound.com and my awesome friend Chris Kurth aka the inked Archer
This guy.. And his way on thinking about archery is what i was looking for..
No compound, no metal risers or fancy gadgets..
Just bare, stripped down, wholesome, traditional archery. Most elegant of sports.
stumping is awesome, just shooting without any pressure, no “kill“, no “gold“, just you and your bow. Best way to train instinctive archery!
Without exaggeration, one of my favorite videos I've ever seen on RUclips. It's honest about the ritual; Zen; joy of archery! Just shoot. Wander. Enjoy.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this tribute the actual.
Matt Pert tank you Matt
Thank
that Mohawk looks unbelievable good!!
Good fun, good friends, it don't get no better than that. Glad to see you back, love the sound of an arrow being launched from a traditional bow. I've learned that if you hit your stump/target, you don't need to go looking for it in the weeds, leafs, underbrush, etc.
Who doesn't just love a good bit of stumpin with good buds? Jolly good!
Jim's form is amazing. The release is very smooth and fluid.
Oi Grizz! Glad to see you up to your old shenanigans! Your cheeky exploits have become quite an inspiration for me and the beginning of my (traditional) archery journey. Cheers and Shoot Straight!
I really enjoyed the video Jim, about a year ago your videos inspired me to get back into archery after a 30 year absence. Thanks for the tips and knowledge along the way. Because of your videos and Jeff's I purchased an Ausable bow and could not be happier. Thanks again Jim, you certainly have had a positive impact on all our lives, in the end that's what it's all about.
Glad to see you back doing what you love best...you sound so contented. This channel and greysarchers was what inspired be to get trad gear and put the fun into archery. Looking forward to future videos.
I agree with you on archery being about more than hitting your mark. Maybe I'm just a bit odd, but being out in the forest alone or with your friends is one of the best ways to spend a day. Thank you for the videos.
Good to have you back Jim.
Good to see you out back at it and enjoying it. Can't wait for future videos.
Welcome back. The Grizzly is better when he's free..
Happy New Year, Jim. Thanks for sharing your day in the woods with your friends. I am glad to see my subscription to Archery Adventures is still in place and I look forward to your new videos in 2017. Your advice about getting landowner's prior approval is spot on. Archers must also respect the wildlife they may encounter.. or the access will disappear in a blink. I wish you the best for 2017.
I don't know why, but this video was so relaxing.
Good to see you back looking so relaxed and happy.
looks a great way to spend an afternoon. would love to get all "woodsy" & target some stumps with you folks.
Fun in the woods stumping. It`s my favorite of archery, and I`m out every time a get a chanse. Great video.
I live in Norway, and here ( I think all Scadinavien* Coutry has this law. ) we something called " All mens right " /" allemannsretten," and that mean`s all people can go werever they want. An land owner can not kick you out, if you act properly. ( it does not mean you can camp in sombody`s garden.. ) - It`s a great Law, and people respect the land.
Thanks again for a fun video.
A very few states in the USA observe a similar rule. Out in the Southwestern USA, where I am, there are just miles upon miles of public land available. Private land owners can be quite hostile in this part of the US. So I stick to the public areas.
All right! Very glad to see you!
This is one of my favorite videos you produced. It’s great to see you & your mates out in the wild setting up camp & stumping. You really should consider producing a 2 hour traditional archery video to release on Amazon Prime Video or Netflix.
Glad to see you back on the Archery Adventures channel, Jim! Excited to see what videos you'll be making in 2017. Happy New Years to you and the family!
You can see by the smile in your eyes (if that makes sense) that this is all you want to do and we love it. Really looking forward to your "New" direction in 2017
What a great way to spend a day, just joined a field archery club, much better than shooting at normal targets
Welcome Home Jim , Happy Christmas and here's to 2017 🏹🍻
Good to have you back and laughing.
Excellent! A great way to spend an afternoon.
All the best,
Al
great to see you so happy and having such a good time. also, i like the follow through you do with your bow hand. gonna try to copy you at the range later! :) shoot straight and fly true, friend.

morbid1789 that is always amazing to hear ;)
Oh, I've missed these videos. And I love the music you pick -- really gets across the relaxing nature of the whole thing. It's good to see more of this side of you. Cheers!
Happy to see you moving forward
I absolutely loved this video, it hits close to home. thank you for sharing
welcome back Jim, as per my comments on FB the other day, I can't wait to do this. looks amazing.
Nice to see you again Jim.
Welcome back to the old channel, it looks like you're having a lot more fun, and one of my favourite pastimes "Stumping".
Can't wait to see more like this!
Nice video, made me get out in the woods on the farms I shoot on, keep the videos coming they are a pleasure to watch
Great video to come back with! Look forward to more.
Great to see you've resurrected this channel Jim
So happy to find you on this channel!

Good to see you out getting back to you're roots jim.
Great video 👍
Looks like a good time was had by all 🤙
Shooting stumps is one of my favorite things. Takes me back to my boyhood and my old Ben Pearson 30# bow.
Great to have you doing and shooting what you want, you always make me wanna get out there and shoot some more. Hope 2017 is a great year for you and the channel.
been a long two years wait, but worth it. welcome back :)
Good to see you back!
its nice to see you enjoying archery again. not seen you like that for a while. awesome 👍
Mission accomplished. I'm in. Well done
Great video that's what it's all about a few mates ,camp fire and a good laugh 👍
Welcome back.
Made me smile when I saw your name in brackets, do what you love Jim and keep at it 🏹
Joes Bows thank you! :)
love the video. made me smile tho your in the woods and you have brought kilm dried timber with you and slow burn logs.
Chris patience I know lol
It was our first time in those woods and everything was soaking, Brad had a couple of logs in the back of his van... lazy I know ;)
RUclips glitch strikes again. Hadn't seen any new vids from you on either channel so did a lil search and found your farewell on the Merlin channel, which youtube had apparently unsubbed me from. Looked and found this vid on your original channel, which RUclips apparently unsubbed for me too as I never did. Needles to say, resubbed. Loads of fun you chaps had there. Thanks for sharing. Trad 4 ever :)
Paul Alvarado well I glad you came back, to be honest, I heard that RUclips hand been doing some ins thing? Anyway, thank you, it's good to be back!
5:20 The ancient art of Fartchery! LOL
Great to see the 'Grizzly' back in it's natural habitat mate. May your arrow fly true again :) ;)
Good on ya mate being true to yourself I shows strong character. Looking forward to more of your good old non commercialised vids. Come to Australia one day mate we have world class stumps here :)
Stuart Hey you're on!
That looks like quiet a lovely time.
I've enjoyed and have been inpired by all your Merlin pieces, but this feels more like your natural environnment GJ. As a 6-month veteran of the sport, I've started with the formal comp-style discipline through a great club, but I'm finding my interest leaning heavily towards the purety of field archery, without all the sights, rods, whistles & bells. Looking forward to the next videos!
Thanks for the Video...Keep up the great Work.
Great vid... Good times!👍👊💥🎯
Really enjoy your videos. I learn a lot from them. Stumping looks like a lot of fun. Not allowed here in New Jersey.
Stumbled upon your video of the bear grizzly review and then seen you left that place and they left the channel here... subscribed... hopefully I see much more content on this one.. Very good video!
awesome! looked like a great time :)
glad your back my friend ;)
Glad to see ya back on this channel! My personal favorite for stumping is the Saunders bludgeon points, mainly cause they are much cheaper than judos. I tried off brand judos once and broke every one on the first shot on an old pine stump :/ but I haven't given the name brand a try.
your back HARRAY
Welcome back mate!!!
great vid, boys! keep up the great work!
Ahh that's great Jim! I got judo points for my mate and myself for Christmas, so we're all set! 😁
Great fun, happy new year..
Wayne Gilbert you to buddy!
Love the vid!! - Sacramento, CA
Love it....Men being MEN!
You seemed so happy Jim, was nice to see :-)
That was marvellous Jim 😀 I wish I had somewhere near me I could go and do stumping 😣 love these vids 😃
I'm very picky when it comes to traditional bows and I have shot a Mongolian recurve bow at 50 lbs, it wasn't that much fun because of the draw weight. I haven't shot a longbow before and by the looks of these blokes, it looks like a sweet shooter, along with the recurve, plus I love the shape.
Good to see you back again with what makes you happy! Makes me happy. Your shirt is nice, too. Post-plaid? ;)
(I've tried some cresting recently - your mate's blue arrows are _sooo_ nice!)
A guy and his mates out stumping could be a very boring video but not when Grizzly does one. You see him in his natural archery environment but it is still instructional.
Ready for another stumping video man!! Weather will be good soon? Yea?
I absolutly love stumping...actually here in Texas its better to shoot cactus. My bought 11 acres a few years ago so now after a long day of work i relax by walking around shooting. I cant even make myself practice on an archery target. Great vid
as I said so glad to see your return to your roots,, have said for years your shot cycle is one the most fluid to be seen on the web... like I as a community we need to support your efforts in our behalf,,prices on your strings in US $ and what material FF DYNA 97 what ??? community of archery we as archers fellowship and friends the world over whom we do not get to meet, maybe one day in the BIG FOREST the ihe Sky LOL-tom
Welcome back!
That looks like a lot of fun. I would really like to do some of that. I'm wondering though, how those heads react on a green or solid tree. How hard are they to pull out of a solid tree or stump? Would like to hear or see more about pulling those things out of wood. Thanks for the video.
Jim
My kind of fun. Fair play lads.
3D IS GOOD STUMPING IS BEST
I have to get my bow soon, this looks amazing :)
Hey Jim, bring back the old intro with a guest saying "hello internet..."
Orlando Munguia that's the plan :)
Archery Adventures I would love to film one for you Jim.
Great to see your bearded face again Jim!
Hey! I've been getting into stumping but my main worry is rain. My longbow doesn't have a finish on it, it's just bare wood. What would be recommended to use on it to protect it from wet weather?
I love it when ppl complain that it's cold in November when there's still green leaves on the trees. Come to Canada where it started snowing in September and February was the coldest month in the last 40 yrs. It didn't get warmer than -20c all of February and lots of -30 and -40. Count your lucky stars you're able to stump shoot in november
Snowed in Colorado this week!
Hairs still looking good baby
Great video. My best friend and i do this kinda thing with firearms here in the U.S.
Ive been trying to get him into archery, but he seems to be very resistant to the notion. Its to bad. Even in gun world(the U.S.), its a lot easier to find places to shoot archery than it is to find places to shoot firearms.
Hello Jim, you mentioned in your goodbye video about your own line of strings "grizzly strings". was wondering when they will be available? what materials do you plan to use etc?. thanks.
Paul Milani i'm just building some stock now... but I'm using a high end performance string (trophy) as well as a Hybrid string... keep an eye out on my Facebook page, i'm hoping to officially launch sometime in the next couple of weeks :)
Archery Adventures sounds good...I'll keep checking, thanks.
Thanks for posting and sharing ... was well worth the 11:17 ... cheers
Love to watch the vid where that car gets pulled over by the motorway blues and twos.... "Yes officer this is all for our RUclips channel!!"
Clinton K lol
