    I can honestly say that I never, ever knew that this match took place. Also, it's still funny to see Booker T going through, what I call his "Rock Phase". He was wearing the Versace shirts, wearing the sunglasses, started to use some of The Rock's mannerisms and even let his sideburns grow out. Taking it even further, he started to refer to himself as "The Book" and started using his Rock Bottom clone, The Bookend... Seriously, WCW creative!? For some reason, this version of Booker T doesn't get discussed about. Would be awesome if you would make a video about this, Mr. Wrestling Bios! Another awesome video, Sir!

      worse still, I remember when Juventud Guerrera started calling himself 'The Juice' and took The Rock's catch phrases as well as using the people's elbow. The other criminal act from this time was when Kronik became the K.P.A. hoping to mooch off of Farooq and Bradshaw

    I was a kid at the time WCW came to Australia in 2000, & I was super excited about it. Sadly, we missed out on the live events, but due to demand, they put on a non-televised show in Sydney which we went to. They actually did have a Royal Rumble style match at this event, which was better than what was shown here. I may be relying on nostalgia, so I wouldn't put much stock in my opinion, but the winner of the match would get a title match later as the main event. I can't remember much, but I do remember Nash getting a huge pop (he was my favourite), as did Scott Steiner. Steiner ended up winning it & got a title shot against Booker T (who obviously won).

  • @henrikschmidt3964
    @henrikschmidt3964 3 года назад +2

    I remember WCW in Australia. I think it was on Thunder where Scott Steiner was wrestling Rey Misterio jr. As Steiner made his entrance a rather small fan was heckling him. Scott sent him a look that made the fan sit down instantly with a 'Yes Sir, Sorry Sir'-look on his face.
    That was priceless.
    EDIT: It was on the October 11, 2000 Thunder. In case anyone is feeling nerdy.

    Welp, Ryan that was a supreme video as always.
    But since you already covered, this piece of work, there was another "over the top rope" battle royal thingy thing in wcw. I am quite sure you know which atrocity I am writing about. Where Nash stood in the ring, maybe did some moves, when pleased to, and any other competitor did get "counted out", for any and every, oh so stupid, reason?
    I don't know which nitro this was on, but during the reliving the war episodes, we will stumble across that one anyways. until today, I don't know if I shall laugh or still cry about that "match".

    What would everyone rather watch, a month's worth of 2000 WCW Nitro or a month's worth of 2021 WWE Raw?

    • @canUsaythis
      @canUsaythis 3 года назад +3

      WCW Hands down
      I say that as a fan and my 1st proper year of watching wrestling in the UK was WCW 2000 so to me it would be Nostalgia but I can at least have some fun with WCW back then. Watching Raw these days hurts me as all I watch Raw for now is AJ Styles and Keith Lee....and yeah that's it for RAW and as for SD it's Nakamura and KO

    Fun fact about coping VHS, you could hook your VCR into another VCR into another, and copy that way. A 10 year old me, and my dad would make multiple copies for family. At one point we had 12 doing copies. Then my mom and dad split and she pawned them all. Dad was pissed.

    They need to go back to the old style of Royal Rumble. No entrance music except for #1 and #2 guys. From there it should only be saved for surprise entrants.

      I mean, he has to have something to make up for his 6 moves, no mobility, and enough timing to cover up for some of it.

    One thing that was really confusing about World War 3 was that I think one of them had a lot of wrestlers both heel and face all on one stage waiting to be called out. They all acted like they were just chatting with each other like it was no big deal but when they hit the ring they absolutely hate each other.

    The final years of WCW were a train wreck.
    The sets looked terrible, booking nonsensical and the roster was thin.

    • @ironman2326
      @ironman2326 3 года назад

      I thought the set was fine here. It was the lack of good story lines and talent.

    • @ironman2326
      @ironman2326 3 года назад

      @ANGRYPrick I started watching wrestling in ~1986, just FYI...but no, I thought the set looked decent. Was it a copy of the RAW setup? Yes. But I still thought there was nothing wrong with it.
