@@beaudemers8982 that’s right it’s not a instant adhesion with the platinum but if you’re in a hurry yeah it’s not for you but if you follow instructions you can’t beat it
I have used Fletch Tite for over 30 years, and have never had one come off. I also never scrape them with sandpaper. Just a good cleaning with acetone and not alcohol. I did not go to the extent that you did, but I have taken mine and a pair of needle nose pliers, and could not get one to come off. Now that Blue stuff you used did pretty good also.
The clamping pliar you used applied leverage against the board throwning your "pulling poundage" off. Much like the claws of a hammer extracting a nail from a board. It multiplies the force. Pulling force should be appplied straight back.
That was stupid! Once you start pulling off wraps we can forget the glue test. You have to do them all on the same substraight bonehead. You used some arrows without wraps and some with wraps. What a waste of my time.
The best fletching I've seen is a cap wrap and super glue gel. Never comes off and it only takes a few seconds to fletch an entire arrow. If you mess up a feather or vane you just unroll the cap wrap and start over. Just gotta be a little sparing with the super glue or you'll glue a vane to the jig.
Thanks for another informative video. Little tough to keep track of the numbers though. Recap at the end would have been helpful. Personally, I use super glue on Blazers with aluminum arrows and have great luck.
"I don't come to your house and tell you how to more your lawn" but if someone put out a video of how to mow a lawn you might say whether you think it was the best way or not
I used the bohning in tube once on my carbon arrows back in 2014. The nap quick spin fletchings dry rotted before the glue gave out. Just reflected my arrows tonight with blazer 2" used the g5 blue. Think the glue is going to either going to get used on anything else I can think of or dry out before I got to reflect again. Lol. Glad to see your test on how it held up
Great video I appreciate the detail you put into it I may have missed it if you specified but were those aluminum shafts you were using I’ve had problems especially with aluminum shafts just wanted to make sure
I know this is an old video, but there was no mention of curing time - which is 48 hours for Fletch-Tite. So I'm not sure the test accurately showed how well FT can work if allowed to cure properly. Not saying it's better, but it's a lot easier to use and I get good results with it.
This would have been a pretty good test if you would have used Goat Tuff FLETCHING glue. I will bet you a lot of $$ that their FLETCHING glue would have performed equally to the other glues used. You even mention under your breath that the Goat Tuff "might have been insert glue". Big difference.
I know this video is 6 years old but I came across your video on a post about fletching arrows and someone posted this video. If you don't like fletching arrows and want to do it once and be done then you need to stop using alcohol, acetone, or any other chemicals to clean your arrows when you use cyanoacrylate based glues (super glues). These chemicals greatly reduce the bond that these glues create. Use plane ole tap water to clean your arrow shafts when using these glues. When you use solvent based glues like Fletch Tite then you can and should use these chemicals.
I like this video, But the wrap Part of the testing is obsolete because 9 times out of 10 That wrap is going to fail before the glue with The exception of that goat garbage. Some of that testing wasn't fair because the rap was already ripped Which made the next fletching way easier to rip off that arrow shaft then what it would have been if the wrap had already been ripped. But it helped me decide on a glue,, So thanks for the testing bud.
I've always said wraps are a gimmick that was brought out by company's that sell Fletcher's. He doesn't come to your house and and tell you how to Fletch arrows, why would he when he can make a utube video and tell multiple people in one go
If you don't like fetching arrows then you should read where Bohning says not to do anything to the vanes because they come prepped and ready for how they were designed and intended to be installed.
Thanks for this test. Narrowed it down for me to the Bohning Quantum XT, G5 Blue Glue and LocTite Ultra Gel. The $13 vs $15 vs $3 narrowed it down to the Loctite Ultra :)
no problem buddy, what exactly are you looking for? in general shooting? hunting?...send me a personal message and let me know what you're looking for and I will see if i can help you out!
I don't have the treestand pack as of yet, but there are a few guys that emailed me about that one, so i will try and get a video out to you guys soon!...i need a little help from badlands though ;) lol
Yes I will be, I have a few packs I have to review still, what exactly are you looking for? (what pack are you looking for a review on?) maybe I can speed up the process
hahahaha i was worried too!! I have to play catch up BIG TIME but it will all be worth it in the end...a couple more videos coming out very very soon!!
thank you Iceman, for doing this, just spent an hour looking for this same exact question on AT. I think my Bohning platinum went stale, my blazers literally flutter to the ground and I know it's not shaft prep, same as yours but use denatured alcohol instead. the Bohning worked great last year on my Easton X7's. but am giving VAP arrows a shot. maybe could you recommend a better blazer jig? like do a reviews-if you can. of that new blazer jig?. love the talk " I hate fletching--I don't want to do it more then once" anyway thanks for taking the time to do this. Peace
K test! But a bummer I just used the Loctite ultra gel on a few new practice arrows. Still working after about 60-75 shots though. I have some G5 Blu-glue so going to use that on my hunting arrows next 4 sure.. Thanks man
That G5 Blu-glue made a be leaver out of me for sure , I've always used Carbon express Express bond been pretty good stuff but the G5 Blu-glue is my new glue to stick with (pun intended) lol
NY HUNTERGUY Fletched 3 cheap Carbon Express Wolverine 60/70`s with 2" NAP twisters. Shot em 20 times each per-day over past 2 days an put em threw the RINGER. Blew em threw old targets, bounced em off the frozen ground and an more! All 9 fletches are still locked down tight... Most are disfigured but still on like a ROCK. Blu-Glue gets the green light from me 4 sure!

No surprise to me here. I learned a long time ago how these niche industries work. You have a glue that costs $3 and is sold at the general store. Another company buys the glue from that company in bulk. Sticks it in a fancy package and goes "Ultra 69 super lock fletching bonding glue." Typically with a better name and package sales pitch. Then they sell it for $19.99 a bottle that is typically half the size of the general store bottle. I guess they could say your paying for all the testing as they tried all the glue at home depot to see what worked best before buying it in bulk, and repackaging it specifically for you.
fletching tape..........have shot same arrows with fletching tape and have shot those arrows until the feather fell apart from the use.......a little dab of superglue on the top and bottom and I also often times wrap my arrows at the bottom of the fletching with string to clean up the looks and also helps secure/protect the feather from going into targets as deep. I tear up more fletching than lose them.....all feather fletching and still lasts 100's of shots without any problem. Hell if they didn't tear up every once in a while I would forget how much fun it is to fletch, crown, crest....make my arrows "pretty".
Knives RUs nailed it the problem with a wrapped test is that the strength of the glue is not the only factor but the strength of the wrap is now a factor and once it has been torn it will more easily tear when you try the others. It is good to see though which glue sticks to the wraps. I will second all these finding as well. The Loctite Super Glue, Ultra Liquid Control is really good. It has a lot lower viscocity than the gel so it flows better as you push the vane on. I fletch them and shoot them through multiple layers of cardboard to see how well they stay on. I like your test too! The more data the better.

just hope you know that the info you give helps a lot of people so dont let the ahole troles get to you great to see you back
very interesting results, consistent with what I am seeing as well.. thank you.
hard to judge the wrapped arrows, looks like the wrap ripped each time before the glue to wrap did.. NO? Guess I am weird, I enjoy fletching
Carl Gennaro wrap was for sure tearing. Bad testing....

Thank you sir. Now I'm pissed off I didn't see this before I just bought more glue. Great video
Valid point, I may revisit this test in the future, thanks for the input!
I don't like fletching arrows so the first thing I do is the OPPOSITE of what all the directions say and apply ethel alcohol which contains oils, that way I can ensure that nothing sticks!
I watched this video a few years ago and now watching it again. Super informative. I love your dry, sarcastic , no bullshit humor. LOL I sure your neighbors either love or hate you. LOL
So im 14 years old and I live in Ohio, I got into bow hunting for a few years now but im having a hard time shooting long range. So i was wondering when you get some spare time if you could do a shooting tips video. You r sooo helpful with all of your videos. Thanks
I would like you to do a test on shelf life of opened and then sealed. I put mine in the fridge after I take cap off and screw it back on over saran wrap, does help but when I do need it I usually have to buy a new bottle.
Just started fletching my own arrows....I wished I would've watched this before I bought glue!
Fletch Tite Platinum works like a beast if you are smart enough to read the instructions! I just have one question from the video. Do you like fletching arrows? Just kidding buddy! Great video, thanks for taking the time to put it together.
fletching tape..........have shot same arrows with fletching tape and have shot those arrows until the feather fell apart from the use.......a little dab of superglue on the top and bottom and I also often times wrap my arrows at the bottom of the fletching with string to clean up the looks and also helps secure/protect the feather from going into targets as deep. thanks a lot man!! it's good to be back!!
my pleasure bro!! thank you very much!!
Knives RUs nailed it the problem with a wrapped test is that the strength of the glue is not the only factor but the strength of the wrap is now a factor and once it has been torn it will more easily tear when you try the others. It is good to see though which glue sticks to the wraps. I will second all these finding as well. Used Goat glue for a while and it was good then something changed and it is as good as spit and went to G5 Blu-Glu, great stuff.
You absolutely were not going over the top with your arrow prep before fletching the arrow. Years ago I got some aluminum shafts wiped them off, fletched them and shortly after went on an elk hunt. on about the third day the rut was in full swing and the bulls started bugling. I had worked into a group of bulls that were bugling and really felt like I could get a shot. It had been clouding up and finally started to rain. I worked between two bulls that were going at it hot and heavy. The rain was quieting my sounds and the wind was in my face . One of the bulls headed toward the bull that had the cows and was going to cross in front of me at around 15 yrds. I looked down at my quiver to grab an arrow and to my supprise only one arrow had any fletch on it, the rain had taken the rest off. I nocked that arrow and did get that elk but am so lucky that one of the shafts had been clean enough that the fletch had secured to it. Ever since I always go over the top cleaning the shaft and base of the fletching and have never lost a fletch since...NUFF SAID...
I had the same problem with fletchtite. Didnt work for me, so I went to the quik fletch. Now Im stuck with a $60 EZ fletch and a bunch of blazers. Maybe Ill try some Loctite glue.
That was a really good comparison in my eyes but i would have thought the fletch tite would hold up longer. lol BTW thats a pretty genius jig haha imma try that out
FOBs. Just got some thanks to your broken fob video. Thank you. Also thanks for showing how to make wrist straps. I made a sick black camp and red one!
I just tried the gel control locktight. Worked pretty good
Inconclusive because u only used aluminum shafts because carbon shafts would adhere totally diff
Great video but my only concern I saw was with the wrapped shaft, they could have been tested 6 arrows with one glue one at a time. Once the wrap was damaged the integrity and strength of the wrap was compromised giving a false reading, I'm sure the wrapped shaft numbers are a bit higher
Thanks - you made me laugh Mr. "Vanes don't fly off... how 'bout that?" G5 looked sweet. And overall, wraps for looks only... not for longevity of sticking.
Thanks so much for performing the tests. Much appreciated.
Nice to see you back man. I was worried for a minute. lol Love this channel
Dude this video is awesome and the glue Fletching is a topic we always talk about, some complain their veins fall off easily others swear theirs can go through metal and still looking good.
I had bought already the loctitte gel super strong before watching the video (so no g5 this time) and now I have to think what to do with the arrow wraps I got. Any suggestions? Lol
Great video, really enjoyed that. You are right , we need a glue not sticky stuff. Thanks for the video and glad ya back.
Thank you so much for this video! This is the best glue I've ever used; easy to work with, can see it easily on the fletching, dries like a steel weld, definitely better than anything on the market (tried them all). Keep up the great work!
Great video vastly appreciated. Lets not forget that these tests were conducted inside at room temperature. I can promise there will be a difference according to what the temperature is outside. Just a reminder is all I'm saying to the viewers. Happy hunting!!!
Were you using aluminum shafts, I notice the metal ring sound when the Fletch separated, will these glues work equally well with feathers? You are very talented and did a first test, thanks for your great video.
Have you tried cement melt point glue sticks? Aren't they supposed to not fall off in colder weather?
Love the videos, seems wraps fail before the vane does but that is besides the point. Still most showed a pretty strong bond.
The Loctite Super Glue, Ultra Liquid Control is really good. It has a lot lower viscocity than the gel so it flows better as you push the vane on. I fletch them and shoot them through multiple layers of cardboard to see how well they stay on. I like your test too! The more data the better.
Nice test, waiting for the video on lawn mowing, though. I've found the DAP Rapid Fuse works really well, small tip, sets in 30 seconds.
what scale are you using? I cant decide which one to buy. read some bad reviews on a few brands.
This sort of stress test seems irrelevant for normal arrow in flight? I'm sure they are all adequate .
Great timing for this video. Was going through looking for something better than the fletch-tite.
Thank you!!
I have been having problems with my fletching falling off. This is great information! So after this test, what glue do you use?
That’s unfair to fletch tite 48 hour set time is recommended, not overnight
Great test! If you get a chance drop me an email. I would like to talk with ya. Thanks
Really good useful video so thanks, but wow...... Mr angry or what
I use either G5 blue or Quantum XT never ever have a problem !!
So what are you using now and have you changed your arrow prep at all? Thanks BTW
Really appreciate you doing this in such a concise and scientific manner. Thank you!!!!
