    This isn't too far off from modern billion dollar company recruitment processes and how they treat people. Or even startups just on a smaller scale. Lies based on hype etc. and a shiny future that never comes. Companies want pliable people who don't talk back, work well under stress etc.

    This was really good Joe! Dr. Lalich is a very down to earth communicator. This is my first view of your new series, but it certainly won't be the last. Thank you for what you're doing here and I wish I could thank the good doctor as well.

    I've been participating with faith crisis groups for a mainstream religion. Some of what she is saying is more extreme, but it's surprising how much of this applies. Even the term "high demand". The community of people leaving call it "high demand religion"
    Demands on your finances, time and free labor. Pressure to recruit. Pressure to be obedient in the face of things that seem wrong or don't make sense. etc etc

    Is there any way you can put a note about when these conversations were first broadcast (is that the correct word?). Just so that we can get our heads around what was going on at the time.
    Love these conversations.

    respect for posting this, Joe. been subbed to your other channels for years and it's interesting to see what you've been spending your time on (how do you find so much time for this content?) life is too short for me to engage and subscribe to every service where people post interesting stuff so it is good to see this new channel on youtube
    (i understand the benefits of diversification and the limitations of confining to youtube concerning future censorship, etc...)

    Avoid seemingly harmless groups with 'love' or 'real' in the name. They are not what they seem to be.

    Part of the problem is that anything can be considered a cult or have cult-like practices. In my opinion, there's no real difference between most religions and cults, they are organizations of faith and belief. Other examples of cults are politics, televangelists, MLMs aka pyramid schemes and others. Of course, some groups are more extreme than others and may demand loyalty in ways that are intimidating to its members, keeping them trapped. One thing I find interesting is the word itself, cult, which stems from the word culture, which is something that most people look favorably upon, depending on which culture you refer to.

      You have to really learn about cults and understand the difference btw that and mainstream religion or healthier groups

    I’m not in a cult, but I am with a physical disability, and I live in…. Let’s say not a great situation.
    Actually 🤔
    Are one-person cults a thing?

      Yes but also cults have similar dynamics to abusive relationships, Janja's book shows this..

    This whole conversation was fascinating. Im so curious what she would say about the Seven Mountain Mandate. It has so many tenants of being a cult but they tend to be very careful with how they word things so they can be argued against being controlling and manipulative. But their whole thing is taking over the seven pillars of societal influence to take the reins on where and how our culture is going to shape things in the way they see fit. Which, spoiler alert, isn’t good for anyone who doesn’t agree with them. They’re positioned across the country and in many other countries in the world and are successfully placing people in power in these influential places.

    I think / believe that RUclips is one of the places where it is best to find a nuanced picture of the world / news.
    Of course one does not know who is lying or telling the truth, meb the traditional news channels are so colored by owners and or political standpoint that they hae lost all their credibility.
    Best regards from skeptics in Norway. Thank you Joe for your programs.

    I know I'm probably gonna get hate for this which is unfortunate. I don't like trump I'm pretty far on the left as far as policy goes. Not everything though. Both sides have tons of great ideas and can work together to run this country.
    I dont particularly like Trump but listening to this without knowing anything about his presidency youd think he brought the KKK up to visit the White House. You cant put the blame on trump for anything that's happened. Trump has condemned white supremacy on numerous occasions. The bbn issue with all this is the media and so called fake news. That didnt just appear out of nowhere. Both sides do it all the time. They paint this pretty picture of their side and the other side is evil baby killers or evil racists. Its ridiculous and if you live in the real world you can see through all the bullshit. Trump gets way too much of the blame. There are way too many moving parts in a democracy for 1 person to be the scapegoat. When gas prices skyrocketed I saw a sticker on the pump blaming Biden. My first thought was oh wow you really are that blind. What about when prices drop back down are all those same people gonna be thanking him for it? Not a chance in hell and it's just sad. Both sides do this and it needs to stop if we ever want to move past this divide.
    I'm not gonna argue with anybody about this all I want is for people to open their eyes and see that there are 2 sides to everything.
    I'll leave with this. If you think trump supports white supremacists and or the kkk you are delusional and live in a fantasy land.

      People absolutely do oversimplify and play games with the credit and blame they assign to presidents on both sides, and media is full of propaganda. That is a huge problem and we have to deal with it. Period.
      On Trump, he may not technically support white supremacists. He also may, it's hard to tell. I've listened to some of his "condemnations" and the ones I heard were extremely weak, weasel wordy, milquetoast disavowals that I have learned often (but not always) are insincere and hedging.
      However, what we do know for sure is that he does support systems, behaviors, policies, etc, that enable white supremacy. Which is why so many white supremacists support him. So even though he may not support white supremacists, he supports things that help white supremacists "do" white supremacy.
      It's kind of like saying I don't support thieves, but I do support the things that make thieves more able to steal from you, and thieves love me for it. Whether this distinction matters depends on the exact conversation. I will say, however, that I don't see many people who claim he doesn't support white supremacists also sincerely admit to him enabling white supremacy without deflecting, minimizing, or other bad faith knee jerk reactions.
      I'm not gonna argue with anybody about this. All I want is for people to open their eyes and see there are nuances to everything.
      I'll leave with this. If you think you have to openly cheer on white supremacists and or the kkk for your actions to support and enable white supremacy, you are delusional and live in a fantasy land.

    • @Horus070
      @Horus070 2 года назад +4

      I think one of the problems w trump on the white supremacy issue was as he said … stand by he didn’t condemn really and he has said so many things that just throw more fire into it. He is a very divisive person … and he cannot be ever neutral. Biden was not my first choice but it was the lesser evil. The US lost a great deal of respect since Trump. I hope we never return to those times!

    • @tonyhawk123
      @tonyhawk123 2 года назад +2

      A president is supposed to represent everyone in the country. When they start being divisive and demeaning to large numbers of their own citizens you need to ask what their agenda is. Contrast with Obama, who never criticised republican citizens or demonised them. Their approaches couldn't be more opposite. I don't think the USA fully grasp how close to a dictatorship they were.

      Trump on Nazis: there are good people on both sides. The fact is, the day he got elected, our country changed. No one is saying he is 100% responsible. He doesn’t deserve that much credit. But he came in in a time where we were extremely vulnerable and he preyed on that. He harnessed our pain and used it to profit. He insighted a riot on our Nations capital that resulted in a load bearing gallows being erected there and ended the life of too many good officers. Instead of jumping on a chance to call everyone stupid or delusional, maybe take a second to look at what he did to make so many find him so largely responsible for the terrible state we find ourselves in.
