- This is one of the best c-drama OST that I've ever loved coming from one of the shortest yet best looking historical chinese drama I've ever watched. This drama is praised for its depiction of strong women. Yes! This drama is about women. Female characters are the strongest and the ones that takes centre stage in this drama. That's what makes it pretty unique. The visuals are beautiful. Maybe Rise of the phoenixes are more realistic but Bloody Romance's setting, costume design are not aim to look realistic. Everything aims to look like they're filming in a studio yet it still looks beautiful. (for reference you may watch a bollywood movie called Saawariya, everything there looks like it's filmed in a studio but still looks stunning) to give that mystical fairytale feel since the setting is a fairytale city. The mirroring conflict between the main couple and the villain couple is also very interesting to watch. Four of them are tortured souls that just not meant to be together. Some parts get a bit slow (and it has some disturbing imagery) but that's part of its charm.
This is a show about a group of clandestine assassin society, where they give women new identities and train them to become excellent killers. They are also given male assistants called 'shadows'. The concept is interesting an all but some of them are far from logical. Like, how can they be an effective killing machines when their methods are elaborate and unnecessary. But if you don't think to much about the logic behind their killing methods, the story is pretty good.

I've seen this series.
If it wasn't for the strong and capable male Shadows that trained the female assassins and helped them out as a partner ie sword fighting to protect the female assassin on an assignment, and the rest, these "strong and independent" female assassins wouldn't live very long. It was actually a 'team effort' instead. Credit needs to be given where it is due at.

I can say now after watching a load of historical Chinese drama,that this work is definitely the best ..the cast is unbelievably talented, no leads ,there were all great ..
Plus, it is underrated , i don't why ,but probably because it covers Politics and bad regimes malfunctioning and the social repercussions over poor people mainly..social retribution over minorities like women .
That's why,in my opinion,they never executed a second season...
I don't know if the original story went past that point or not, I know that in the end of the original story the fan held a clue that the ML was still alive
Knowing the how the later Tang Dynasty was….its very fitting. 😱 it was like the Dark Ages in Europe.

I don't know, but once I downloaded an OST of Chinese historical dramas, I never watched this drama, I only listened to the song because it was on the list of the OST I downloaded and I fell asleep and in the early morning around 3 AM, I woke up and this song is the one that always played, it happened almost 3 times and every time I woke up at 3 AM, there was that song and I started crying, why? I don't know. I thought that because of the music that is very sad, I felt a strange sensation, a very sad sensation, a deep pain in my heart, and that I still feel it 😭, and well I was wondering what drama this song was from, and I was curious because the music was very sad, I imagined that it is a very sad final drama, that's why until now I don't dare to watch it, because I know I'm going to cry a lot. Just by listening to the music I cry and I feel deep pain and without knowing the story of the characters in the drama, I will cry much more when I see the story of the characters in the drama, the pain is very deep from what I see, I will cry a lot 😭😭😭

I noticed that Qu Chuxiao is typecast into protagonist characters whilst Wang Duo is slowly being typecast into only antagonist characters.
