Apparently the laptop has MUX after a BIOS update, my laptop was returned before I could test this. Of course improvements are welcome, but with the original issue of it missing 10% CUDA cores and now this, I just get the impression that the machine wasn't ready to launch when it did, paying customers are the BETA testers.
your ram looked like its high density dimms. This lowers performance. Im not sure if the 32 gig model also has high density dimms, but i know it is limiting performance in cpu benchmarks. Could explain the low test scores.
The main thing with knowing this is. Of a mux switch is added after. Then there’s no reason why asus can’t fix there’s. Also the tdp went from 125w to 140w to. So I have no idea what improvement it goes from. But I’m seriously trying to find out while they have sales on.
The problem with the temps are caused by minimum processor state in the power options. Out of the box a lot of these laptops had a minimum set at 100% making the laptop idle at over 70c. After unhiding and setting it to 5% I've been idling at 50-60c. The quality control on these units have been unacceptable.
You are definitely right! By smoothly running fans from 50c and making them spin faster upto 70c almost 90-95% maximum speed, then the CPU clock can run faster not exceeding 90C by showing good performance enhancement. This kind of manual temperature to fan speed setting had shown meaningful results in several ryzen 5000H series laptops by some korean testers. It's better to optimize Ryzen 5000H processor by manually set in terms of temperature and fan speed. Kicking fans from 60-70c is easiest way of being fool.

The Alienware M17 R4 is the best gaming laptop on the market, period. I wouldn't trade mine for anything...except maybe the new X17 Alienware. Jarrods bias against Alienware is pretty obvious.
Dell has been cutting corners on Alienware products recently. It's pretty sad seeing an OG gaming laptop brand slowly dying. Somebody did a teardown of the m15 and the Dell g5 and it was found that a similar motherboard and cooling system was used in both despite the m15 being a premium product.
Noticed in a number of your videos the Lenovo recommendations. 1. Are Lenovo's Legion laptops that good? 2. Are you sponsored by Lenovo itself to do social media marketing for them?
Thank you for your videos, they helped me a lot to understand how all new cpu and gpu work in laptops. Saying that and for what I have seen so far, the Ryzen 9 runs too hot in this machine. I have the m15 r5 with ryzen 7 5800 and rtx3070 and it gets in fps games up to 240 fps and temperatures around 88 degrees celcius. I have seen comments from other people with similar specs as mine that have no issue whatsoever with the temperatures. I can totally recommend this laptop since mine has the 240hz display that looks increidible and it cost me 1700 bucks including taxes with a student discount.
I have the Ryzen 7 5800 RTX 3070 too. I had it for almost 2 months now. Running Ryzen Controller app to regulate the temp to cap it around 85C (my personal preference). But still seems to run fine without. It seems like the Ryzen 9 in this machine seems to have alot of heating issues and thermal throttling. I play COD and Cyberpunk 2077 mine with ease. Not bad if you are willing to pay the extra bucks. I just prefer the aesthetic design on alienware laptops over other gaming laptops. So I am pretty content.
@@JHU_0425 Hi, yeah I am extremly happy with this laptop, since such amount of power for the size and aesthetic of the laptop is amazing. I can achieve 240 fps in fortnite and valorant while I stream and even more when I am not streaming. About temperatures I have tested capping it to 85, 87 and even 93 degrees, but for me the best temperature so far is 87 that keeps everything balanced. I have tried other games that are not so demanding and the laptop runs them with ease.
The temp can easily be controlled in the BIOS. It isn't something exclusive to Dell. It's on all of these Ryzen gaming laptops. Go set you temp down to 95 or 90.
The only thing I kinda hate about this laptop was the QC on the display. I had to return 3 of these laptops because they all had dead pixels. Even the one I am deciding to keep has 1 but it’s so tiny it kinda looks like an speckle of dust and it’s fine.. I guess 👀
