Betsy, I could just kiss your face, that tip on pulling the knitted item through the needles versus trying to stuff my needles down the tube was brilliant, thank you.

It’s fun to have the 3 of you sit together for the whole podcast. Betsy’s natural curiosity makes for great conversation, be it reviewing a new book at the store or bringing out the deep well of knowledge from Simone. Now we all want to see the hood, how many yards Simone might get out of the spindles, etc. nice podcast.
Oh, and Betsy may want to go back and add the extra 1/2 inch to her mittens. When I knit mittens the wrong size and wore them walking, the pressure on my hand joints ended up causing some problems that had me stop knitting to recover. Didn’t seem like it should’ve been a thing, LOL!

I am left-handed, but knit right handed. I am able to use Norwegian purl without difficulty. It doesn’t require you to tension your yarn with your left hand. Don’t be afraid to try it! Thanks for the podcast as always. Happy holidays and looking forward to 2024. Deborah in Florida

Without a doubt, I have enjoyed EVERY one of your RUclips videos. I remember when Kim and her sister Jen were teasing Ken that he could not have the "good" needles from the shop because he hadn't yet "paid his dues" as a knitter lol.
Thank you for taking the time to do a podcast! Betsy, you always ask the best questions, questions I would ask if I was sitting right there with you.😊 Happy New Year to all!

Kim, I just read yesterday’s newsletter and once again was struck by how beautifully you write. Just reading your messages can lower a person’s blood pressure by 10 points. BTW, I took a moment on a brisk morning this week to watch a limpkin for a while. A tropical bird who had obviously lost his way and ended up in Kentucky, he brought me joy and contentment. It’s always good to take time to soak in the world around us. Now, pray for the limpkin to find his way back south before it gets too cold up here. And a very Happy New Year to all of you at Fleece and Harmony. 😮

Thanks for another lovely show. I like your plans to knit for the neighbourhood pantry! I challenged myself to knit 25 hats one year, and then held a party/sale where all of them were sold to friends. All the proceeds went to MSF (Doctors without Borders). Now my whole knitting group contributes, and we sell all sorts of items. Last year we raised $2000 for MSF! It gives us a chance to try lots of fun projects, use up our stash, and make others feel good too. And that's why we all knit! Happy New Year to all of you.

Thank you again for another interesting podcast. Simone, you are an inspiration. Just thinking about how you find time for everything you do makes me a bit dizzy. The spinning, the running, the knitting and then coming up with new patterns, adn you work whew. I am assuming you knit the sweater you are wearing in this podcast. Can you tell us what pattern you used? It is a beautiful design.

Thank you for a lovely knitting year. I too really enjoy the camaraderie and sharing of knowledge between you and your openness about any errors or difficulties. The sense of community makes me happy. I like watching Irina Ginzberg of Fibrechats knit. She is amazing. So little hand movement and such a prolific maker. Irina is a combination knitter and has accommodated the reverse placement of the knit stitch beautifully. I’m also a backyard sustainability warrior so I love anything natural in our sock yarns to strengthen them. It’s just silly to ruin perfectly good naturally sustainable wool by superwashing or adding fossil fuels based nylon. Add a bit of cotton or mohair or even silk! Go Betsy! Yay for thinking outside the square for our environment. Happy New Year fellow knitters and fleece and harmonisers, thanks for all your work and attention to detail resulting in beautiful products and projects. Have a wonderfully happy 2024.

I started out with I think would be English style knitting and was just so slow, then ran across Arne & Carlos demonstrating Norwegian style and I’m just loving it as I have shaky hands and very arthritic. Happy New Year’s to all.

This is for Betsy- I am also a mainly English knitter & I have discovered that combination knitting really speeds up rib or seed stitch when knitting English. I’ll knit the Arne & Carlos way for long sections of knit but the combination knitting style purl is much easier for me. Just throwing it out there…😊

There is a Russion purl which is fast and neat; ruclips.net/video/eB42VjLzFuY/видео.html If you're knitting flat, you will have to knit the stitches through the back loop on the RS of your work. If you're knitting in the round, you will be purling your Russion purls through the back loop on the next round: I love this as it makes for a neat look in ribbing and find it's also faster. Enjoyed this episode: Happy New Year to all of you and looking forward to 2024!
