    Love how Venetta picked up the word "lorries" for trucks. And "pals and buddies" with David Gilmour - both beautiful personalities. Like attracts like.

    the whole extraordinary phenomenon that was Pink Floyd will never happen again and cannot be repeated, Syd and the guys will forever hold that "magical thing" in space and time.
    some of us shared experiences when we were younger and in a sense we were similar characters to Syd, Roger. Dave and so on, in our own little pocket of the space and time we occupied

    Nice to hear from the experience of someone who worked with the band but just outside of it. It was a pleasure to hear Venetta Fields talk about her perceptions of the band and their music as an outsider coming in.
    I do wonder what she would have made of Syd’s suggestion before his departure that the band employ a saxophonist and female backing singers. And there they were when Syd showed up!

    • @JOHNEDGINTONDOCUMENTARIES
      @JOHNEDGINTONDOCUMENTARIES  20 дней назад +1

      Syd was far more experimental in 67 than the other band members

    • @tuvantrader
      @tuvantrader 18 дней назад

      @@JOHNEDGINTONDOCUMENTARIES Oh, no question. I think 'Piper' is a remarkably creative album; there's such a variety of styles and textures throughout. (Rick was really the number two guy in the band then, too; it's nice to imagine how that collaboration would've developed...)
      I'm a great admirer of Syd's work; I bought the box set that was put out in the early '00s when I was at uni. Wonderfully weird, often moving stuff that NO ONE else had an appreciation for.

    I saw Floyd with a sax player and gals but I don't if it were those from the album. Syd, schizophrenia is hell and drug use doesn't help it. She is right about the dark. I was a big Floyd fan in their early career but then it just became too dark and depressing for me. I still listen do DSOTM and the earlier albums. Daves guitar playing still deserves praise on everything he has done with them. I saw them once in Carnegie Hall and twice outside in 73 and 75.

    His sister has said it wouldnt surprise her that syds manner and the way he acted were a joke on the band that day, they treated him so badly by just not picking him up one day so maybe he played i joke.i dont know maybe only syd knows the truth.... RIP

  • @AMERICA-RUNS-ON-BLOOD
    @AMERICA-RUNS-ON-BLOOD 19 дней назад

    I had a great music teacher in New York public school in 7th Grade he was older I'd guess 50s. He really was intrigued with the synthesizer and using sounds like nature, or even traffic, and machinery and recording them and playing them back musically if you will and the editing of tape. He was hard to get for me at the time this was probably 1975 or 76 he was at least in his 50s and I thought it incredibly odd he wasn't more a traditional music teacher and boring, he was so enthusiastic about sharing the want to have musical ability through imagination and experimentation with sound. He was so ahead of his time that I am just catching up and I am 63 years old. I wish it clicked back then, I only now realize what a great teacher and guy he was.
