Thank you for documenting these. I think people tend to romanticize Syd's story way too much; in my opinion it's just such a tragedy... I don't ever try to sugar-coat this period in Syd's & Pink Floyd's life. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
the outro of "Dominoes" does have Dave on acoustic. he picked up Syd's guitar and punched in the ending after Syd finished. maybe the one guitar he put on the lp. the consistent sound & atmosphere of "Barrett" makes it a sweeter listen than "Madcap Laughs".
Barrett is my favorite album of all time and has been for years. I am now constantly reminded how important Gilmour was to the project. I often wonder if he did i out of guilt, or friendship, or just because he wanted to make a great album
Ya hit me with the old one, two punch, first Joe Boyd, and now, the one who was there at the very end of Roger's career, Jerry Shirley....Today was the release date for "Barrett" his final piece of work....on an album, he did have a short lived band "The Stars", but that really didn't go anywhere.....Funny, how Jerry says of all his accomplishments, the most he gets asked about is.......Syd..... interesting, thanks buddy for this trip down Arnold Lane.....🤣😎
This modest, mild-mannered gentleman played superlative drums for one of the most ferocious, funky, soulful, greasy, bluesy rock bands of all time (Humble Pie).
Syd and David knew each other, learning guitar together, before there was Pink Floyd. David was the new kid in the band and probably he and Rick had nothing to do with Syd's exit. Syd was pushed out by Roger and Nick. In an alternate universe, if Syd hadn't gone off the edge, PF would have been recording these great songs on 'Barrett' instead of 'Ummagumma'. I wish Jerry would have talked about 'Wined and Dined'

Geat interview. Thank you. Great drummer too. Thanks Jerry for all the amazing music through the years.
Many years ago he was a DJ on WNCX here in Cleveland. He was always a pleasure to listen to.
I love the Barrett album! A true gem! Fantastic interview. Also a big fan of Jerry's work with Humble Pie and Fastway.

Man with the big heart. He is so simpatic.
These are always such a pure joy. Both intellectually and musically rewarding. Thank you for posting them. They are true treasures!
Brilliant comments from Jerry on what made Syd's lyrics and songs so unique! Thank you again, John, for this interview with a great musician.
Glad you enjoyed it

Jerry seems like a guy you'd love to have a beer with and talk all things music.

Never knew David did this for Syd. Lifts him back up to the status he had for 15 yr old me
That's a wonderful interview. Patient musicians, and kindness from David. Thank you for the insight!
Thanks!
