    You don't know anything about God for calling this ministry a cult. They present Christ more clear than any other christian body. The body of Christ is divided and they are trying to bring it together but u are here speaking rubbish....

      They present a phony Christ very clearly, that's what they do. And they deceive seeking people and dupe them into joining one of the most elitist cults I know of. Repent, or perish.

    • @agreatguylol470
      @agreatguylol470 4 года назад +6

      Do they really??
      Which is clearer to you my friend?
      God= three parts- Father, son and holy spirit, existing separately with the title "god"
      Local church version of god= three parts- father, son and the holy spirit coexisting at the same time (i.e. father=father, jesus and holy spirit; jesus=jesus, father and the holy spirit; holy spirit= holy spirit, father and jesus), going through three separate stages (i.e. Modalism), never separating from each other (i.e. oneness)... and yet each separate part can exist at the same time in different places.
      hmm, I think i know which god i would choose.
      1 Corinthians 14:33 “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
      1 John 4:1 “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
      You need to get out of this cult. God bless

    Hey man, I am currently involved with Christian Students at my college campus, and have been for about a year. But I haven't seen any of the things you are describing. In fact, they seem to be more Biblically resolute than any other group I've been apart of and have a longing for Christ that I've never seen before. Would you be available to talk over the phone about this? I am still making sure the local church movement checks out and I need to hear the other side.

      A.J Perry, I'm also currently involved (because I was duped) with them and I noticed that something was wrong within the second meeting. I've met with them 8 times already, and they are NOT biblically resolute and have cultish practices. They are most definitely obsessed with Witness Lee because 90% of the time is spent on Lee's doctrine, not the Bible.

    Wow brother! I've been involved in the Lords Recovery for several months now, and it just doesnt feel right. They recently cornered me and scolded me for going to neighborhood churches, telling me they are all corrupt and the Lord doesn't move in those churches. They told me the Lord chose THEIR ''local churches'' to be the place of meeting, no where else! These are just some major red flags I recently encountered and will be watching your series! Vague descriptions of what you didnt like and no correlation to what a "cult" even is as compared to the church life. May God bind the enemy in your soul. Did you not read the title of the video that says INTRO?? Do you know what an INTRO is? That means it's an introduction. Man, you cult members are sad. You really have gotten so far out of your mind and into your darkened spirit that you can't even understand the title of a simple RUclips video. I just wanted to praise the Lord for this video. One of my best friends has been coming closer to Christ and he's been heavily involved with Christians on campus since starting college and the few times I joined him for their IPMMs something always felt off to me. And just recently, through a few sources started learning more about witness Lee when I stumbled on your channel. From my experience with them, it truly feels like they have a longing for Christ, and yet they seemed to place Witness Lee's books over the true word of God at many points that disturbed me. I'm hoping to help my friend and many of the others I've met through him who are involved in this programing.

      That's good that you listened to your gut instinct regarding things always feeling "off". Yes, many of them really do have a longing for Christ, but the Jesus presented by Witness Lee is a false Jesus, a counterfeit, and they do indeed place Lee's books over the Word of God. Thank you, sister! And exactly! The followers of Witness Lee are literally trained how to speak when they are around other Christians, how to sound more generic, inclusive, and accepting, when they are anything but that. They are actually the exact opposite - a very narrow, exclusive, and elitist theological personality cult. But they know how to love bomb, smile a lot, talk about "common ground" subjects, and get on people's good side to get them to accept fellowship with them. The things about Witness Lee being their ultimate leader, their elitist view of their cult, their strange doctrines and cult practices ... they hide all that very well until they feel their prospective members are ready to hear the "deeper" things. This group is so opaque and non-transparent and downright deceptive that I was compelled by God's inspiration to do this. Otherwise, as you said, it can be quite easy to get duped into becoming a part of this group.

    They do not encourage discerning & critical thinking over their teachings, which are solely written by the founder & his side kick protege. They do not have full time pastors but have hard core elders who protect their philosophical doctrine assiduously. You can't ask critical questions but to follow their doctrine blindly as what has been stipulated & outlined in their study booklet where you have to pay a donation to purchase it. What turns me off was their founder declared that "God is nothing without men" which I felt it's an insult to the Almighty God.

    I live in china. I have some chinese friends who are in this lord's recovery church. Sometimes they invited me to their prayer meeting, they call it 'blending' and during the meeting we read books, and that was the moment I saw the name witness lee at the end of the things we read. So I asked one of my chinese friend who is this person, and she didn't respond to my question untill now. I don't know why.

    • @TexasStreetPreacher
      @TexasStreetPreacher  4 года назад +12

      Yes, that is a typical thing for someone to experience when they join the group. The name Witness Lee is often downplayed as much as possible when new ones are around, but they inevitably show the source of all of their doctrine - Witness Lee. And the reason that person did not respond right away is because she is hiding something. There is something to hide, and like I say, if something is worth hiding, there must be something wrong with it. The lack of immediate response from your friend shows a hesitancy to be transparent, which is a red flag in any kind of relationship. Transparency is an important virtue that must exist in any normal, proper friendship/relationship. She also may've needed more time to "compose" a nice-sounding answer by asking older, more experienced cult members how to answer your question and how to make Witness Lee look good and normal. Once she spent time to put together the nicest sounding answer for you, that's when she responded. That's my speculation, but I know from experience that this happens a lot. Please guard yourself and your family from Witness Lee's doctrine and followers. It leads to disobedience, darkness, and hell. God bless.

    • @TexasStreetPreacher
      @TexasStreetPreacher  4 года назад +2

      I try to shed light to any of of them that I can. The vast majority do not have ears to hear or eyes to see, as they are in both sin, which blinds people, and under massive amounts of mind-controlling cult doctrine. It does take a lot of prayer and speaking, but it also requires the cult member himself/herself to repent of their sins, fear God, and obey Him ... and no one else can do that for them. Not even God. But most are unwilling to do such a thing, as they've been brainwashed that they are all ok and "happy" and just need to "enjoy the Lord". It takes a lot for people to wake up, as it did for me to wake up.

    I used to be part of this group in my early 20's. I thought it was the real thing about being a Christian. The good thing for me back then, is it was hard finding work, so they fed me.
    But, here are the things that turned me off about their teachings.
    1. No mention of the Holy Spirit.
    2. Getting angry and hostile at me for missing a weekday night group meeting, because I had to work.
    3. Saying that their church is right and other churches are wrong and "worldly."

    Witness Lee was from China, however, today the local church is the second-largest Christian group in Taiwan. They have many members and have a great influence on this small island. I have to say those members are extremely loyal to Witness Lee and his teachings rather than to Bible and Jesus himself. I was involved in this group not knowing they are cult, they normally don't want you to have any critical thinking or to question their practice.
    According to the information that I searched and found out, I believe Witness Lee was a big dictator who did not tolerate anyone who is against him and would do anything to keep that person quiet or cast him out. This man is proud and arrogant, this character doesn't fit the servant of God.
    I am glad that you are out of this group, honestly, I don't want anyone to be the victim of false teachings and teachers. I pray that God will always lead and protect those who love and believe in Him.

I haven't heard any talk on witness lee person, but they do talk alot about recovering Christ and separating themselves from worldly aspects.. so I think this is the same group you are talking about??..They are very nice and very open in their praise for Christ.. I have been to all their uni campus meetings and house meetings. I enjoy the house meetings quiet a lot....Also, I am meeting with an old Asian man, and he is teaching me the truths of the bible. It is very complicated for me to understand (2nd English language speaker), however I am trying my best to cooperate with him...It is very hard to believe that they are a cult, as they seem to have a lot of love and passion for growing in Christ. However, I might have the wrong group??

    • @TexasStreetPreacher
      @TexasStreetPreacher  5 лет назад +21

      Yes, it sounds very much to me like you are involved in this cult. They always talk a lot about "recovering" the truth and the enjoyment of Christ. Of course, they have not mentioned Witness Lee yet because they are trying to gain your trust and build up their relationship with you. They are trying to slowly, softly win you over so that you will be open to Witness Lee. Yes, Witness Lee's obfuscated teachings are not easy to understand. They are warped and overcomplicated. They do have a lot of passion for their doctrine, just as Jehovah-less witnesses and Mormons do, but they are a theological and personality cult. Ask this man if they ever read Witness Lee, and what they think of him. Of course, they won't tell you everything, but if they start talking good about him and how much light he had and what not, know for certain that you are involved in Witness Lee's cult, and that this group will lead you into further deception and HELL. No joke. If they talk good of Witness Lee, RUN! Get out! It's for your own good. Your describing these few months with this group is EXACTLY my experience with them for the first few months. Do not be deceived by friendliness and nice meals and nice conversation. Please see my videos on the college ministry of this group that is very deceptive and crafty. God bless!

    • @TexasStreetPreacher
      @TexasStreetPreacher  5 лет назад +11

      They are very similar to Jehovah-less Witnesses in many ways, but they do acknowledge the Trinity - the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit being one God. But even in their acknowledging of the Trinity, they screw up their teaching on the Trinity big time, saying that the Son is the Father and that the Son is the Spirit, which is basically another version of oneness Pentecostal heresy. It's no surprise, as Witness Lee got caught up in a Pentecostal group before, so he probably got it from a oneness Pentecostal heresy. They do believe also that Jesus is the Lord and Savior, but their Jesus is not the Jesus of the Bible. They teach a false Jesus, and again, a false version of the Trinity. So they are seemingly ok/benign when you first talk with them, but when you analyze their teachings and what they eventually start saying, the heresy and problems start manifesting quickly. God bless.

    On my way to work at the gym last month I stopped at the local coffee shop for a cup of java joe; and, it was packed, no place to sit. There was only one place open, which was next to an older man who had a free box of Bibles next to him. So I asked to sit next to him, thinking he'd be safe and say yes. His first question to me was, so what have you been reading from your Bible lately? At that time, I had been reading OT story of Joseph, sold by his brothers, yet God's kindness always with him. We talked, and exchanged contact information, he gave me one of their Recovery Bibles, and another volunteer has contacted me and we go over the NT and footnotes. One, why no OT? And, two, why so many footnotes? I personally prefer reading for myself more so than supposedly learning from their footnotes. I am going to for sure listen and watch your other videos on this group, because I was not aware of the controversy about them being a cult!! Grace and peace to you, from southern California.

    I'm not that far away from you, and here is my local church story. This was 40 yrs. ago in a college setting, and the odds of this happening have got to be huge. I met a girl at party. developed a thing for her. She was not deeply into it yet. There were 2 other girls sharing the place. After a few months, I began to spend more time with one of the others(it doesn't involve all three.) I fell for her completely. It was after the semester came to an end I began to hear about this church from the two girls I mentioned. I did some research, and Watchman Nee was legitimate. Anyway, I sincerely fell in love with the second one. The next semester begins, and I see less and less of her. She was living in a different place with several other locals, and upon a different person answering the door, I was told with finality that it was considered best if I didn't see her again. Several months later, I get a call from the first girl, and she wants to know if I can make an hour's drive to see her. I did, and while it was great to see her again, she asked me if I'd like to go to church. Again, 4 or 5 women in the house. I has grown up going to church 3 times a week, but I knew this would be different. She was totally in. There were songs sung to the melodies of hits of the'60's, witnessing, and a brief sermon. Nothing wrong with any of that. It was after the service that everyone started to form groups of 6 or 7 people with the would-be converts made the center of attention. They began asking the type of spiritual questions wanting a yes or no response. In short, find the weak spot and love bomb them. There wasn't a happy ending. Earlier, I said I had gone to church a lot. This church would be considered a mainstream one. When I learned how to think, I saw it as being on the borderline. It was prior to meeting these young women that the college group leader wanted everyone to pick a confidant that they would share all the activities of the day with. Now, if something seemed odd, they just might report it straight to "the man." That took some time to evolve, but that my friends, is cultish. It was directly from this point I met the women. For this reason, I could consider the Local church om the fence were it not for Witness Lee, and the hardcore sell after one service. I know the last person I spoke of seemed very happy. I hope the one that got away is too. I went into this detail because I thought it was a story that would complement some of the others, and it was quite an experience. One last thing you can hang your soul on-when others around you crush your free will, does that impress God? Control only leads to more control. God wants faith, not a marionette.

    • @TexasStreetPreacher
      @TexasStreetPreacher  3 года назад +2

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Yes, there is A LOT of control in this group. But the thing is, is that it is all practiced in a "soft" form. There are no threats of violence or anything like that. It's all done in a much more convincing, subtle, and syrupy-sweet way. To the point of snatching people away from their families to live in these little communes (they call it "corporate living"), and stripping people of their critical thinking, choices, and preferences. It is a very weird group.

    When I was 21 I was "saved" at a commune in Oregon in the summer of 1969. They were technically Christians, but it was mixed with a lot of other occult type things like Edgar Cayce, extraterrestrials, ascended masters, past lives, and so on. From there I was somehow "led" - presumably by The Holy Spirit - back to my hometown of Los Angeles and into the Local Church.
    There I spent 6 months of going to church at least once a day. There were many restrictions, but everything was a "suggestion." No one said that you couldn't have a TV, but if you did it was called "the window on the world," the "world" being a negative thing. Another "suggestion" was not to associate with anyone outside the church or to date even a fellow church member. The preaching and the meetings were highly emotional with lots of shouting and repetitive phrases. The church had rented all the homes in the area surrounding the church building so new members were assigned a home and roommates if they weren't married. My roommate had been a Christian for much longer than I and was saved in a more conventional environment. At some point she and I realized that we were in a cult. This was 1970 so cults were not so well known as they are today. We were delivered from The Local Church, but that experience sent me down a dark path and I lost my faith for many years.

      I hear ya. It seems to me that almost every single "church" group out there does not match what is shown in the New Testament, and usually are doing things contrary to what is taught in the NT. Maybe there's a good church group out there, but I have not found one. We truly are living in the end times, in a time of "the falling away". It's a wasteland out there. Amen to your only trusting in God. Consider Psalm 62, which I call the "only Psalm". I call it that because it clearly refers to God alone as our rock, salvation, defence, etc. Consider these verses from Psalm 62 - "He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved." (verse 2), "My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him." (verse 5), "He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved." (verse 6). I love this, because it clearly shows that GOD ALONE is our rock. GOD ALONE is our SALVATION. GOD ALONE is our defence. Our waiting should be on GOD ALONE. A church group is not our rock. A church group is not our salvation. A church group is not our defence. GOD is. But if you speak to many people today who are enamored with their churches, you may hear them say that their church is their rock, their salvation, etc. But that should not be. And that's the point - so many of these so-called churches end up being a replacement for God, along with outright opposing His Holy Spirit. Here is a link to a video I did a year or two ago regarding this topic - it's a 5 video series. Here's part 1: ruclips.net/video/S0KJlZqptBU/видео.html I think it might be helpful to you. I by no means discourage fellowship and meeting with other Christians, but God always comes first, and compromising with so many of these churches is always a step in the wrong direction. Pray to the Lord to add to your life TRUE believers who love, fear, and obey the Lord, and He will provide the true and pure fellowship that you need. God bless.

    What's your take on Watchman Nee? My wife was invited and went to a group meeting today that is using his book. The very little I got to search on him, seems like he should be marked and avoided. I care very much for apologetics, unfortunately most Christians don't care. Especially pastors who are letting in extreme charismatic theology (NAR) into their churches.

    • @TexasStreetPreacher
      @TexasStreetPreacher  3 года назад +7

      Watchman Nee was the mentor of Witness Lee, and Witness Lee is the (rotten) fruit of Watchman Nee. Watchman Nee was in great error. He put himself under the discipleship of a woman, a woman named M.E. Barber, who (contrary to 1 Cor. 14 and 1 Timothy 2) taught men and usurped authority over them. He was mentored and brought up by this woman for quite some time. He also cherished and studied and promoted the writings of other like women, such as Mrs. Jesse-Penn Lewis and a Catholic mystic Madame Guyon. These things ought not be so, and this was a great deviation from God's order and ordination, which led him astray into all kinds of spiritual darkness and confusion. It is no wonder that Watchman Nee was actually kicked out of the Bible school he attempted to attend when he was younger. He was full of rebellion and disorder. He was the main one who helped prop up the "Local Churches" cult, which claims that Christians can ONLY meet as The Church in such-and-such City, and that if they do not, they are a division, are wrong, and cannot build the church. This kind of exclusivity and blanket accusation against all other Christian groups is akin to Jehovahless Witnesses and the magic-underwear wearing Mormons, who also claim to be the only group that is right and that you must meet with them. He drew men away to himself, made up doctrines that are nowhere found in the Bible (like the ground of the church which forces people to only meet with his group/cult), and he taught many obfuscations which overly complicate some of the most basic human concepts (e.g. teaching that we should take the way of life, and not care for right or wrong/good or evil - a complete obfuscation of what the Bible teaches - that the right way, the good way, IS the way of life). These are just some of many issues that I can name. If you have the time, check out Dr. Lily Hsu's book, a very, very detailed testimony of a sister who met with the Local Churches in China and who was very involved with Nee and those around him. It is full of shocking testimonies that expose Nee as being the complete opposite of what he portrayed himself to be, in that he was full of wickedness and sexual perversion. The book is called My Unforgettable Memories. God bless.

I spent hours yesterday trying to look up information. I found a lot more for Witness Lee but enough weird stuff about Watchman Nee from their own sites. His site mentioned how he saw a vision of Jesus and was given new revelation. There are so many frauds and so many people who are deceived by demons. Some of the "new revelations" seem more like occult, mysticism. At the church that my wife went to the meeting, there was a bookcase and my wife starting noticing a bunch of heretics like Bob Jones he had women get naked in front of him in the 70s or 80s then lost his position as pastor if I remember correctly. He was a Bethel teaching Bill Johnson was there and all the congregation how to do astral projection (of course he gave it a Christiany sounding name of Spirit Travel). The other books were also NAR related. The church isn't NAR but it is lead by a woman and she goes off of feels quite a bit it seems as some pain in her hip that went a way was her way of knowing they shouldn't delay the meeting last Sunday. I want to keep learning about Watchman Nee and Witness Lee so I can give more information that this man who invited my wife to the meeting. Here in Korea there are so many many cults. I always stop and talk to the Jehovah witnesses. Wish I spoke better Korean to really drive home the point lol I like comparing Isaiah 44:24 where Yahweh claims He created the heavens and the earth and all things ALONE and By Himself..then show how in the New Testament Jesus created all things and else where that the Father created through the son. Yes, his "new" revelations and visions definitely have their source in demonic activity, rebellion, and mysticism. Yeah, Bill Johnson and others like him are all quite similar, in that they are very "spiritual" sounding, but they really are just spouting off new age and heretical garbage that merely tickles people's itching ears. And yeah, no surprise the church is being led by a woman. You can bet there are some serious Jezebel spirits operating in that "church". The Jezebel spirits love Watchman Nee. :) Regarding all the messed up groups and cults in Korea, I believe it. It's like that in so many different places and countries. @Archi Gumera Sure! That's an easy one. I just went on the LSM.org website and did a quick search on one word string, and the very first result I clicked on says this, and I quote from false Witness Lee "God does NOT intend for us to do ANYTHING for Him. As God's children, we need to change our concept and see that God's ONLY desire is to give Himself to us to be our enjoyment." This is from Chapter 2 of How to Enjoy God and How to Practice the Enjoyment of God (a very redundant title, I might add). So there it is. According to Witness Lee, his false, hippy-like, phony, lawless, spineless, and sin-friendly jesus doesn't want us to do anything for him. And all he wants man to do is enjoy him. That's his ONLY desire. ... Says the Bible NOWHERE. Thanks for helping prove my point. Repent, or go to hell, sinner!

    I grew up in a locality that at the time separated from the Living Stream. We did not have communion with them, but a lot of the teachings were the same except we did not read his writings, it was offered but we mainly read the bible.We had a different songbook that was yellow etc. The main leading brother did not agree with the living stream and implemented the rival 'Brazil'. The other leading ones who were indoctrinated by LSM subtly tried to bring LSM back. I grew up witnessing domestic abuse, and some of the elders knew but nothing was done, and we were silenced and barely spoke out to cover this situation. When we moved away from this city we had no other choice but to join the living stream because my parents didn't want to leave the "church life". I saw a way worse picture of how this can be. They rented out a room in. a community centre. Everyone was old, all the men sat at the front in a circle around the Lord's table and the women sat behind them. My parent's marriage was really falling apart, and I remember my dad taking advantage of the opportunity to 'testify', to slander my mom and shame her for using her phone in service and not using the spirit. None of us are meeting with them anymore, but he still defends the recovery version and tells me that I am partaking in a division and demonic choices for taking communion at the church that I'm meeting in that is not 'church life'. The first locality we were meeting in has now been totally overthrown by LSM since this leading brother got very very ill (an interesting different story) and has now passed away.

    Question from someone on the fringes of the group: would you say the "cult" elements are mostly limited to heterodox teachings or are there major elements of the "BITE" model present as well? From my experiences, while certainly there has been a prevalence of major gatherings (conferences), there aren't any major expectations that would be considered unusual or controlling in day-to-day life. The smaller locales especially seem to have little oversight as to how they're run.

    • @TexasStreetPreacher
      @TexasStreetPreacher  Год назад +3

      The cult elements come from both sides - heretical teachings which make them a theological cult, and yes, the BITE model with prevalent leader (Witness Lee, and Nee as well) which makes them a personality cult. Regarding your experience, you yourself have admitted that you are on the fringes of that group. Have you been to the Full-Time Training? Have you served full-time on the campuses? Have you worked for LSM? I have. And I'm telling you, there is a ton of thought, emotional, behavior control, along with all kinds of deception, abuse, and brainwashing. Being on the fringes of the cult is much different than being "consecrated" and fully committed to it. You need to get away from this cult and reconsider your ways and relationship with God, because you are in darkness as we speak and are in serious danger of getting fully sucked into the cult.

John So was a coworker of Lee in Germany, and Titus Chu was a coworker of Lee in the Ohio area. Both of them were avid followers of Witness Lee and Watchman Nee's teachings, but in one way or another they got on Lee's bad side and were "quarantined" or shunned by LSM and Lee. The same is true for Dong Yu Lan in Brazil. After being shunned and breaking off from Lee, Dong, Titus Chu, and John So continued to basically do what they were doing before, just without being under Witness Lee and LSM. Some may suppose that these men are better than being with LSM and Lee, but in reality, they are just smaller branches stemming from the big branch of Lee/Nee/LSM. They may be separate from Lee and LSM, but they are still on the same tree, even the same branch, and have the same rotten fruit. I would strongly recommend anyone to steer clear of these men. God bless.

    Unfortunately it does function exactly like a cult in many ways. It’s founder Watchman Nee set up an authoritarian hierarchical system in China and his successor Witness Lee took the model to America in the mid 20th century
    They do have some great ministry (albeit chock full of leaven and dangerous teachings), but unfortunately it’s surrounded by a whole lot of weird, culty, sectarian, and controlling elements. It’s somewhat paradoxical because the ministry is what attracts people into their fold. But once you’re in then the cult stuff starts happening. Some people see through it right away, while others it may take them decades, while others never see through it all. I believe there are some who see through it but stay anyway because they have nothing else in life at that point or they just care about the social benefits and ignore the lies they are told or just sort of mentally accept it
    They’re elitist and separatist (basically sectarian) with regards to how they treat other Christians, and they’re manipulative, controlling, and authoritarian with regards to how they treat their own members
    Their history is full of inner problems and serious scandals as others have mentioned in this thread. It’s an extremely deceptive and layered sect/cult. The basic core of the problem is erroneous manipulative leadership and damaging heretical teachings surrounding authority and ministry. These teachings are the main give away but they’re very subtle and not obvious right away, so if you’re just coming in off the street you could easily get lost for decades in their system if you’re not careful. It’s like a Venus fly trap, seemingly very welcoming on the outside but once you get in then they start to deconstruct who you are to conform to their mold, and then they have you
    There’s plenty of information out there regarding this sect/cult. Here is a compilation of sources I’ve compiled
    Source: I was born into the “Lord’s recovery movement” and spent significant years of my adult life with them. I am lucky in that I spent only around one year with them in my childhood and youth because my parents moved around a lot, and due to their failed marriage pressure was not put on me to attend, so I didn’t besides one year when I was around eleven years old
    However as a young adult I started reading Nee and Lee and got interested in them because my parents had committed to their movement when they were younger, and I started meeting with them after I had a strong conversion to the Lord. Well over time I noticed a lot of strange behavior and over the course of a few decades meeting off and on I eventually saw the forest for the trees

      They heavily emphasize and pressure their members to “leave the world” (basically become an ascetic more or less), dress a certain way, speak a certain way, and ultimately adopt all of their “church life” cultures, habits, and social norms. This is very similar to the Amish and they are extremely separatist like them. In some ways they’re more extreme than the Amish because their style of asceticism doesn’t stop at just outward denial of things, it permeates into the way they think and behave. This causes a lot of pain and problems for the members (especially the children), and results in mental illness in many cases, as well as serious marital and family problems
      They also encourage separation from family members who are not meeting with them, which is isolation, a large part of the BITE model of cults
      They heavily emphasize spending much time in the word of God and particularly in Witness Lee’s ministry, which they always use as an accompanying study tool. In reality they read Witness Lee more than they read the Bible and it shows because they often don’t follow the Bible, but rather go through the motions of the culture Witness Lee created
      All of this is part of the BITE model of cults and it just reeks of cult-like atmosphere and behavior. However again, it’s subtle and they tend to fool people because of all the “enjoyment” and chanting and self aggrandizing they do. If you buy into their narrative then you become an elite Christian in your own mind like they believe they are. They chant Jesus’ name, which I don’t necessarily disagree with. I enjoy calling on the Lord myself but when you juxtapose that with their shady behavior it gets kind of sick. It’s kind of like a habit for them. They go to meetings, go through their motions, and then go home. But when it comes to addressing real things they mostly avoid everything aside from the “smooth” functioning program they run. In other words if you have real problems or need real help they’re not set up for that and most likely they can’t/won’t help you in any real way aside from paying you lip service and saying they’ll pray for you
      And they do pray, I’ll give them that. Which is fine and good. But they’re not really “doers of the word” like it says in James 1:22 and 1 John 3:18. They’re just off in their own version of what it means to be a church member and they have an entire toolbox full of ways of being a church member that Nee and Lee talked about. So again they follow these men and the culture these men set up as opposed to the Bible itself. And it gets subtle because they only pay attention to certain portions of the Bible, which is the way Lee taught
      Everything they think, do, say, and practice is filtered through their cultural lens of Witness Lee brainwashing. So you have people comparing every aspect of their Christian walk with things Witness Lee said as opposed to the Bible. Which is how you know that Witness Lee’s ministry is a kind of replacement for the Bible amongst them. It’s HIS version and interpretation that they follow. And again, he does have some good ministry. But they simply accept everything as pure and holistic truth, which is dangerous. There’s a lot of leaven in Nee and Lee’s ministry so they are unaware mostly of how culty and weird they are. It’s not until you wake up from the stupor and spend some time away that it all gets put in perspective. But if you spend time with them their entrapping rhetoric can keep you mentally enslaved to their culture. Ironically this is why they attract damaged and passive people and can’t attract and retain people who are keen minded and can see through bs
      A couple extra links proving that they have damaging cult teachings that are unbiblical. This is just a few examples

    • @TexasStreetPreacher
      @TexasStreetPreacher  4 года назад +1

      Oh, my friend. I know the feeling. I have family members from my wife's side that are still in this group. Pray for them, and speak the truth to them. Be transparent and honest about all the red flags you see. I also like to ask them questions, questions that show how unbiblical their teachings are. For example, they always talk about "enjoying the Lord" and the "enjoyment of God", etc. I ask them simple questions like, "Could you please show me one, just one verse in the Bible that mentions "enjoying the Lord" or "enjoy Christ"?" Questions like that will help get their mind (which has been suppressed) working again with regards to the truth. But it very much depends on the family member in the cult. You can share truth with them all day long, but if they are not willing to repent of their sins and fear God and live holy, then they will remain in darkness and not have eyes to see, being blinded with pride and sin. That's why I stress so much (and why the Bible stresses so much) repentance, the fear of God, and living holy. Without these things, there's no way to see and know the truth. It wasn't until I grasped, learned, and embraced these things that I woke up and came out of the group. So do all that you can through prayer and speaking, but always remember that much of it depends on they themselves to see and know and turn from this cult. Anyway, hope that helps.

    I was in the Church in Anaheim between 1975-1978. This was Witness Lees church. And I watched the Church rupture, with many of its (then) leaders calling it a cult, including John Ingles and Max Rappaport. I was there. It’s a cult.

      Max was the most popular leader because he was a great public speaker, but John Ingles was clearly #2 under Lee. When John left (after Max left), well, THAT was an event. Why the split? Members of the Church were interrupting and shutting down other Church’s services, harassing people in public, then there was that interview with the LA Times where Witness Lee claimed to be Gods sole oracle on Earth (“by His grace” Lee said), he called Judaism “satanic”, Catholicism “demonic”, and ALL churches outside the local churches as “dead, lifeless and Christless”. He would say that if you left the Church you would die, or worse. The worshipping of Lee, the isolation from my family and the outside world, the insistence that we not think for ourselves, got to be too much for me. I fled.

    For South America, there's another branch separated from Lee's group. This separated group follows Dong Yu Lan who teaches differently from Witness Lee and LSM.
    In China, there are also many controversies. Some disciples of Witness Lee think that Lee's way can't help them to become overcomers and after fake prophecy about Lord's second coming in 2000 these people start to build another cult, Church of Almighty God or Eastern Lighting. They believe that before second coming of Jesus He will be incarnated again in China as God. They are influenced by Lee's teaching. Consequently they build another cult.

    Question(s), So obviously they have weird tendencies such as the chanting & their version of calling on the name of the Lord, etc. But ultimately they believe in Jesus and that he is God correct? So are they destined for hell? Realistically only God knows, but I can say that the fact they have their own bible, hymns all deriving from W.L. & following his over 700 books that this would most likely be frowned upon by God right? I just can't get it out of my head that they do believe in Jesus as Lord, but is it the fact that they believe the bible is "locked" or has uncovered truths that they may end up in eternal damnation and if so what are these truths they claim were lost?

    • @TexasStreetPreacher
      @TexasStreetPreacher  Год назад

      The problem is not just the weird tendencies, but the fact that they believe in a false Jesus. The Mormons believe in a false Jesus. The Jehovah's Witnesses believe in a false Jesus. The Local Church people also believe in a false Jesus, a Jesus that is according to the heretical teachings of Witness Lee. They believe in a Jesus who, according to Lee, is the Holy Spirit, and a Jesus who is the Father. They also believe in a Jesus who is focused on people's "enjoyment" and pleasure, putting man's pleasure as top priority, rather than God's will. These are just examples of the kind of "God" they believe in. They surely believe in Jesus, but not the Jesus of the Bible, regardless of how many verses they like to quote and how many verse references they like to give out in their cult literature. These people are counterfeit Christians. They look somewhat like genuine Christians at first glance sometimes ... but under a closer look, they are counterfeit. Their Jesus is a counterfeit, their salvation is a counterfeit, and their whole church system is a counterfeit.

And the fact that they met in a hotel lobby, My ex's dad also introduced me as "a friend who's been coming over". Yeah, if your ex grew up in the cult, it is very, very difficult for them to leave. It’s like trying to get a Mormon who grew up in the Mormon church to leave. It’s a rare exception. But believe me, it’s really bad. It’s not just the doctrine of the Trinity that they get wrong. That’s just one example. And they believe both, btw - they believe that God is the Father, Christ is the Son, and then Holy Spirit is the Spirit … but they also believe that Jesus the Son is the Father, and that Jesus the Son is the Spirit. Now explain to me how that makes sense. Lol But they believe many false doctrines - exercise your spirit (found absolutely nowhere in the Bible), which is a cult teaching utilized to encourage people to suppress their critical thinking and instead go with “the flow” of the singing and teachings and believe anything and everything taught by Nee and Lee and the leaders … the ground of the church (again, found absolutely nowhere in the Bible), a teaching invented by Watchman Nee to condemn all other Christian groups and put a glass prison around the cult’s members to prevent and scare them from ever leaving that group … enjoy the Lord (again, a phrase found absolutely nowhere in the Bible) which is a man-centered, hedonistic, feeling-centered teaching that puts man’s pleasure and happy feelings as the top priority, even over obedience to God’s word. Anyway, these are just examples. This cult is a counterfeit, so while at first glance they may seem like Christians, upon further examination these people are not Christians at all, and it’s no wonder that they say that they are not a part of Christianity … because they are in a cult, no Christianity! I’m glad you like the vids. Just know that the girl you liked is most likely beyond help and you most likely need to move on. I know that’s hard, but there are other fish in the sea besides her. I hope you find a good, God-fearing woman.

A lot of their practices really don’t make sense and it does indeed remind me of Mormons. They both believe in Jesus but not the one of the Bible. The issue I have most of all is that my ex would need the footnotes to understand. Even when we read together she would pull that up after I had already explained what it meant and low and behold the footnotes said exactly what I said. It’s not hard to understand. I don’t get why they put this man’s word on the same level as the Bible, I find it ridiculous that there is a Bible with all of those footnotes in the first place. Yeah, it is hard. And yes, they have a lot of things in common with Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses. And those footnotes will certainly not sit right with God on judgment day. The people in the cult were trained to rely soley on the words of Nee and Lee ... they cannot think for themselves when it comes to things of God ... and only those who dare to call out the errors/inconsistencies/contradictions and stand for what is right will be able to simply walk out of the cult and find the truth.

      Ryan asked that his videos be temporarily taken down. He is in a situation where he needs to be "under the radar". Once that changes, he has said that he wants his videos back up and he has even expressed a desire to do more videos for the channel, which I hope he does.

    Hi brother, thank you for this invaluable series, this information is so important to get out there. I too was involved with this group at some point, interestingly enough it was on campus near Anaheim. I would like to mention that their teaching about salvation (no repentance or faith in what Christ did on the cross, only by calling on Jesus' name) is wrong and actually prevents people from being saved. Also, their teaching that only some Christians are "overcomers" (a wrong interpretation of the parables) places a terrible, lifelong burden on those in this group (similar to other cults, such as JW or Mormons).
    But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. -Gal. 1:8

      Yes! And that's absolutely right! Their gospel is a false gospel void of repentance and true faith, and they deceive their members by telling them they are saved by calling on Jesus, when in reality they are actually preventing their members from true salvation. They are blind guides leading the blind, and as Jesus said in Matthew 15, if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into the ditch! God bless you!

      @@TexasStreetPreacher How come I learned otherwise. In my local church, we focus a lot on repentance and dying on the cross with Jesus Christ. Some of the brothers and sisters did mention Witness Lee a lot before, but now it's okay we share different points of views from other church leaders or priests or other versions of Bible as long as we believe in Trinity and what we said is from Bible. Not long ago, some elders even said that we shouldn't think that we are better than others lest we fall into the kind of churches mentioned in Revelation. Things have been changed a lot these days.
      Money was not mentioned at all when I first joined them 15 years ago. No bags were passing around to collect money during gatherings on Sundays or any other days. I started tilthing after I learned more about Bible myself. The elders even told us God will be pleased only if we tilth willingly. Money stuff is very personal between me and God. But we are all sinners. Where there are people, there will be temptations, human manipulations, false doctrines and Satan's sabotage . But as long as there are saints who really love God, seek for God, and follow Jesus Christ and pray for their churches, God will work everything together for guiding sheep gone astray back to the right path.
      I guess a lot of brothers and sisters must have gotten hurt badly by some of the saints in Lord's Recovery. I pray in Jesus' precious name that all the trauma in you be healed and bad memories be erased and still be able to believe in God and enjoy God.
      With the persecution in Mainland China, the way of small-group gathering at saint's home in Lord's Recovery is the most suitable way for saints in that country if they want to refuse irrelevant political photos and signs posted in their churches. If Chinese government there is buying into what you said that Lord's Recovery is a cult, they might start banning their gatherings. There are already not enough Christ followers in that place. Please start praying instead of attacking. Let us pray together that brothers and sisters love each other in God's way and all the churches will be able to really glorify God.

      Not sure what church you went to, and how deep you were in it, but you've been duped. Like I was duped. Believing in the Trinity and using the Bible in no way validates a group. Joel Osteen believes in the Trinity and uses the Bible every sermon, but he's a smiling, twinkly-eyed deceiver leading people astray. In the same way, Witness Lee led many people astray. The reason those people mentioned Witness Lee a lot is because their heart is full of Witness Lee, not the Holy Spirit. They are obsequious sycophants. Regarding tithing, can you show me one verse in the New Testament that mentions tithing money to a church? Also, can you show me one verse that says to "enjoy God"?
      Don't you dare attempt to accuse me of causing persecution of saints in China. But those following the teachings of Witness Lee and Watchman Nee are not following Jesus. They are not believers. They are cult members, whether they realize it or not. They are deceived and on their way to hell unless they drop the unbiblical teachings of those wicked men, repent, fear God, and keep HIS commandments.

      @@TexasStreetPreacher amen brother! Tithing is lie is a tradition handed down and not biblical. The tithings giving consisted of food and not monetary.

      Amen, brother! That's right! If they want to be consistent with their tithing doctrine, why don't they tithe their food, and their herbs, and what not? Why is it always The Money? Maybe because, as prosperity pimp pastor Ed Young (aka Ed Dung) once said, "It's ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!!".

      Are you aware that the very year that CRI came out with their We Were Wrong edition to promote Witness Lee's cult, and also the year after that, Gerald Chan and his Morningside foundation just so happened to "donate" $600,000 to CRI? Gerald Chan is a billionare member within the Local Churches cult. Coincidence?
