Pedro Aznar is the bass player. He left Seru Giran to join Pat Metheny in the early 80s. David Lebon is the lead guitar, amazing musician too.
FRANK. GRACIAS POR HONRAR NUESTRA MÚSICA. ABRAZO DESDE ARGENTINA !!!
Oh my god. I never heard this song but I saw so many people asking for it and I am so curious and now I'm going to discover it with your reaction woohoo
So? What do you think?
It is interesting but a lot to process in one time... I need to listen to this again. Preferably with earphones on a train in the rain. Which I will do this week :)

Desarma y sangra - Serú Girán. Amazing song!
Dude... "A los jóvenes de ayer".

La letra además merece una traducción completa.

👍
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 great song!
This is the one
UH AWESOME
Nice corchazo in the head song
Friend remember, at that time there is a great military dictatorship in Argentina. That made combine the lyrics of the songs. Charly managed to say things that the military did not understand the meaning .. Charly surfing with the songs .. He avoided censorship, disappearance or death ...
PS Charly's moustache naturally grows as two colours! He developed vitiligo as a child so parts of his skin have a loss of pigment and the hair that grows from these skin cells are white. In the film 'Adiós Sui Generis' from 1975 you can see him sporting a black and white beard!
Exact! Something similar to David Bowie's different color eyes: Pigmentation.
@@ArkadiPop Bowie's eyes were due to an injury that left him with a permanently dilated pupil, both his eyes were blue.
Fun fact: Charly wrote this song when he was just 17.
That si not true. The song is from 1974/1975.
@@culturacadenet Yes, but he write the lyrics when he was 17
@@culturacadenet The original song is Nena by Sui Generis. He was actually 17. (¿Por qué carajo estamos hablando en inglés?).
@@elrincondenano jajaja why, chabón?
@@elrincondenano "Nena" was played in 1975. Charly was 24 years old. Likewise, he had composed an opera rock named "Theo" in 1968 (he composed just the music, lyrics were writen by Carlos Piégari, a member of the "proto Sui géneris" when they were six members), and after he used parts of that song in Nena, Seminare and some riffs in songs of La máquina de hacer pájaros.

It’s a metaphor. Imagine the sweating face of a black woman shining under the sunshine. He wants to see his lover’s face shining like that... After all, if she is sweating and laughing, it is probably because they just had some fun 😉
esclava in spanish means:
One piece bracelet without ornaments.
Also, we south american have a total different cultural acceptance of the world slave or black rather than the american has.
We embrace the fact of our historical heritage and don't see it like an insult or an offense at all.

"Los dinosaurios" - Charly García, would be great!
En ingles seria "Shining like a black slave smiling heartily"

Tks for bringing Charly. He has "a perfect ear" oído perfecto, not many musicians has or had it. He's a real genious. Greets from Mendoza, Argentina
One Argentine underrated progressive rock band is Crucis.
Is of the best, and espiritu, invisible or aquelarre
Absolutamente cierto
Me refiero a Crucis
It's gonna fuck your brains out.
The songs from that time were full of messages against the military dictatorship from those days, and those messages were hidden in amazing metaphors to dodge censure and make it to the ears and hearts of the people.
Seru giran's work is amazing in every aspect you want to see

Abrazooo
Gracias Frank . Te había pedido esta reacción hace tiempo. Siempre es un placer escuchar Serú Giran.
"Shining like a black slave 's face laughing with joy": it is not a way of romanticizing slavery; Charly wrote about how joy and happiness, when living through hell (slavery is just a metaphore, you can also use famine or poverty), can make anyone shine. When seeing it that way, your conception of the lyrics can change totally.
Charly García is all about LOVE & ROCK AND ROLL.
Greetings from Argentina!
Charly was referring to Her lover, a Brazilian, and that’s where this LP was mostly produced and recorded
Zoca ?
That's wrong. Lyrics already said "Esclava negra" in the Sui Generis version.
Saludos.
Hey Frank. Yes, the translation was correct - "esclava negra" does in fact mean "black slave". I'm still not entirely sure of the meaning behind that, but keep in mind that Charly used a lot of poetry in his lyrics so you can't always take his words at face value. This is the studio version and the band lip-synced it for this filming. Serú and a bunch of other Argentine bands were filmed on this green screen in 1978 and the footage only just came out in 2017. This song is considered one of the most important in Argentine history.
Hahaha i know I will find you here

Golden years of Charly Garcia goes from 1972 to 1991
Tremendo
This is a track written by Charly García in his teen year. Now brought back as a composition during his youth. I don't know if this one has a particular meaning. Charly wrote lyrics quite meaninfull and metaphorical but some others are quite like crosswords. Some are about fredoom others about love and unacceptance. Others about social situations and others about his megalomaniac existence. Others about improvement as a human. And many other more thematics.
Charly is a profesional. For instance he has cancel concerts because he didn't like the general sound! He has fully paired ears. Ir meando absolute ears. Music flores from his mine. He said once he has musical dreams!
Hi Frank!, You are a funny man! I enjoy your video! Thanks and thanks for do more famous this argentinian big big band.
Listen boy, I am very happy that Charly Garcia is your idol as it is for millions of Argentines who from the 70s until today we enjoy it with their songs worthy of a musician who studied from four years of age getting to be a teacher Piano at age nine.
He is not a musician anymore, in his music he is perfect and when he gets angry and pushes the pianos it is not because he wants to attract attention, it is because his prodigious ears detected something ugly, maybe from him or maybe from one of his musicians .
Total genius, having been born three hundred years or so could have been Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, List, Chopin, and if there is reincarnation the spirit of any of them today lives in it.
Written with the google translator.
Surely very few understand what you say, if you make a written synthesis of what you speak we could enjoy all your opinions
I want to see you naked ... yes, charly of course jojojo
Thank you very much che

Charly García, you don't need anything else to stay alive. I'm a huge fan, he's been touching people hearts for almost 50 years, from 1972 and he's still thriving, his last album was released in 2017 when everyone thought his career had ended. I've seen him twice last year and it was one of the best things I've ever done. Even though he had (and still does) struggled with his condition his mind and spirit are still the same. He's an amazing human and the last big musician here.
(I've got two pillows with his face on them)
Please make yourself a favor and listen to all of his albums. You should also read more about his life, he has been part of our history, he fought with music against the military forces that commanded in the last military coup, from 1976 to 1983 , some of his songs were censored.
Have a great day and thanks 💕

Grande Frankito querido!
The video is a lost tape recently recovered that was recorded in 1978 for one of the Argentine state television stations, apparently as a camera test before the launch of color television in Argentina (and chroma key test as you can see). And yes, indeed, it is a playback taken from the LP version of the song.

I don't know if someone did mentioned it before me, but Charly was a child prodigy since her mother and musician friends discover he had "absolute pitch" when he was just 4 years old. Since then he started yo develop in classic piano and became teacher of harmony at his 12.
Later on he listen to The Beatles and the rest it's all history.

About the video, it's not official, it was recorded along with several other songs from the beginning of Seru if I'm not mistaken in the state channel Channel 7 was not alive, it was playback. Another oddity is that these videos appeared and were released only a couple of years ago.

Nice to see your videos of Caifanes and Serú Girán, my two favourite spanish-speaking bands ever.
Regarding the video, it was recorded for an Argentinian TV special in the late 70's. Apparently, this video was hidden for 30 years, as it was just unveiled three years ago.
It is not a live set but a playback performance.

Beautiful reaction... and for sure beautiful choice. I'm a huge fan of Charly García. He started his music career in 1972 in a band called "Sui Generis" an then in another band called Porsuigieco. Both bands played "country rock". In 1977 Charly invented a band called "La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros" (The Bird Making Machine) and then in 1978 he formed the group "Serú Girán (both were progressive rock bands).
Serú Girán was named the Argentine Beatles. Charly García is a musical genius, he has ABSOLUTE HEARING. He composed his first symphony at 6 years old and graduated as a symphony conductor at 12 years old. In the first Serú Girán LP, Charly invented a strange languaje for some of the songs: Serú Girán, Eiti Leda, Seminaré, Separata, Cosmigonón... these words have NO MEANING!!!! (at least they don't make logical sense). Congratulations, it´s an exellent video.
Both "Yes" and "Seru Giran" are good and somehow similar bands, both having a genius bassist and progressive rock
