We just booked our third Ascent cruise. Don't judge Celebrity by the old ships, they are fine but the newer Edge class is by far their best product. We travel a lot, and it would be prohibitive to use Seaborn or Silversea for 6-8 cruises a year, so Celebrity fills our needs nicely.
As a seasoned Celebrity cruiser 20+ cruises I must admit this ship looks absolutely stunning, having sailed on APEX & BEYOND the ASCENT has added even more. I’m sailing on EQUINOX in July the Italian riviera 9 nights. I’m now almost regretting making the booking after watching this excellent production. The fare on the Equinox sailing actually made me purchase the cruise. On my 2 EDGE series cruises we paid a helluva lot more than the solstice class cruises. It’s true that you get what you pay for. Raw on 5 were the 2 best meals we’ve ever eaten at sea. Eden complex you nailed it the most innovative of venues Well done on a superb video

I love all of your wife’s beautiful dresses! The Celebrity Edge class ships are our favorite. We can only afford to do the suite once a year but we insist on a balcony cabin for the other two cruises we take each year.

Wow! Such a wonderful review! I sailed on celebrity Beyond for the first time & found it to be my favorite! It was quite wonderful….& very similar to the Ascent! My sailing ended with seeing the Ascents maiden voyage ! They must be in the same class as the main restaurants were the same as ascents! I truly LOVED the food! I enjoyed myself so much! Had the best service i have ever had! Everyone on the ship was wonderful….i also found that having the gym open for 24 hours also made my day!!! I enjoyed working out in the gym everyday as i had to work on getting those pounds down! I was told that celebrity was for the older crowd …..i found it to be Just Right!!!! I went out on the icon of seas…(lovely ship) but i was lusting for the Beyond!!! I’m older now….and found that even though the Icon was quite great….but it’s more for the family crowd…as a mature adult, i would say celebrity was a much better fit! Thank you for introducing me to me to the Ascent! I look forward to experiencing this pleasure also soon! Great review….!

Hence you'll recognise a lot of it, but there are tweaks in the Atrium, Martini Bar, pool area and Sunset Bar and deck. My wife and I have been on about 8 cruises and normally we travel with Royal Caribbean or Princess. We’ve been eying Celebrity but haven’t booked one. I guess this video sealed the deal.
Excellent video. For years Celebrity was my favorite line. I loved the beautiful ships and everything else. Then I switched to Holland America because I wanted a smaller ship and different itineraries. Your great video makes me want to go back to Celebrity. Well done.

Hi Donna. Totally agree, we love the ship too. In fact, by coincidence we were on the Italian Riviera a couple of weeks ago on a cruise with Azamara, and saw the Ascent at Portofino. We were anchored just around the bay.
We board the Celebrity Apex tomorrow. I'm supposed to be packing!! You are right on target with your excellent review. We've traveled on Edge, Ascent and tomorrow Apex. Must still experience the Beyond!! Our first Celebrity ship was their first, the Meridian in 1992.
As always, you did a fabulous job describing this ship. I’m definitely not your market because I only sail on small ships. Right now, I’m on an 80- day Grand Voyage aboard the Seabourn Quest. I do, however, love the videos you create. If I were to sail on a larger ship, your video would have convinced me to give this one a try.

hi Bill, great video and looking forward to the next episode. We are fairly new to cruising and have only been on a couple of P&O cruises. My wife has severe mobility problems and is either in a wheelchair or a small electric powered mobility scooter. How does this cruise line fair with catering for those who are less mobile? Are you able to do a video where you can speak with disabled passengers and give some feedback on how they cope of different cruise lines? We do see so many great videos on cruises with just about everything anyone could want or do, but these always cater for the able bodied and not for those who are less able.
Hi Erich, great to hear from you. I would say the vast majority of cruise lines we have been on are really very good at catering to those with mobility problems. Especially I would say the American cruise lines who really are very adept at it. We saw several people on our most recent Celebrity cruise who were using mobility scooters, and they were able to get around reasonably well. It's an interesting comment you make about dedicated videos on RUclips for those who like to cruise, and have mobility issues; and I think there should be more videos out there. I don't have a video on that subject coming out imminently, but there is a chance that I will be cruising with a relative at the end of this year, who is 90 and does have some mobility problems. If I do, I will try to make a video on that, very specifically covering what issues there are, and what would be helpful for viewers to see

Great Job Mr Ritzy! We have sailed on the Soltice class ship Equinox back in 2023 our first experience with Celebrity and enjoyed it! I would say a more premium adult cruise vs our cruises on NCL and Carnival in the past. We enjoyed Celebrity enough to step up to the edge class and we have two cruises both on Ascent. Our first one in October 2025 for 11 nights out of Rome Itly traveling to parts of Italy, Turkey and Greece staying in a prime Aqua Class cabin. Our second one is also a 11 night to the Panama Canal and Southern Caribbean in a Aqua class sky suite. Thank you for your I detailed review of the Ascent.
Fantastic ship isn't it! By coincidence we were just on the Italian Riviera 2 weeks ago, with Azamara cruises, and were anchored off Portofino, and the Ascent was across the bay from us. Brought back great memories.

All around Celebrity or Xandris as is was called during our early cruising days, is still the best for short cruises. We are still waiting for long world cruises by them!

We were on the Beyond in May. Outstanding entertainment. We were OK with the Veranda cabin but, I would prefer an actual balcony. All in all, it was a great experience

Well done. This ship seems to be the perfect marriage of scale and upscale. I am currently aboard Cunard’s Queen Victoria. I love this ship but I do find myself wishing for more opportunities to interact with fellow travelers. The more contemporary look of the ship reminds of pictures I have seen of Cunard’s upcoming Queen Anne. Hmmm 🤔😀
Nice video, not booked Asent, however going on Apex in August, my understanding is they are very similar, so looking forward to it, my only concern with booking any new ship to us, is how s scooter friendly it is, fully expecting it not to be an issue
As you know, we are HUGE fans of these Edge Class ships. However, we actually prefer the Apex over this ship which we've experienced twice. Over Thanksgiving we'll be on the Beyond. Sooner or later-we'll catch 'em all. We already have reservations for the Excel next November. This is a very good video Bill and we agree!!

@@ritzytravelguide We prefer the set up of the Retreat lounge because there's a lovely outdoor area off to one end that is terrific in the morning. We also like the color esthetic better on the Apex (less burgandy/maroon lol).

Booking our first cruise for next year on this boat. What kind of seafood did they offer on the buffet besides shrimp? Did they offer crab legs or lobster?
Generally the buffet aboard the Ascent, and the other Edge Class of ships is excellent, with so much choice. Lobster these days on any cruise line is more of a rarety.... But, remember to go to the buffet lunch on the last sea day of your Ascent cruise, as it's a seafood extravaganza! Lobster, shrimp, seafood galore, and amazing cakes a desserts

hi Bill, great video and looking forward to the next episode. We are fairly new to cruising and have only been on a couple of P&O cruises. My wife has severe mobility problems and is either in a wheelchair or a small electric powered mobility scooter. How does this cruise line fair with catering for those who are less mobile? Are you able to do a video where you can speak with disabled passengers and give some feedback on how they cope of different cruise lines? We do see so many great videos on cruises with just about everything anyone could want or do, but these always cater for the able bodied and not for those who are less able.
Hi Erich, great to hear from you. I would say the vast majority of cruise lines we have been on are really very good at catering to those with mobility problems. Especially I would say the American cruise lines who really are very adept at it.
We saw several people on our most recent Celebrity cruise who were using mobility scooters, and they were able to get around reasonably well. It's an interesting comment you make about dedicated videos on RUclips for those who like to cruise, and have mobility issues; and I think there should be more videos out there. I don't have a video on that subject coming out imminently, but there is a chance that I will be cruising with a relative at the end of this year, who is 90 and does have some mobility problems. If I do, I will try to make a video on that, very specifically covering what issues there are, and what would be helpful for viewers to see
Great video! You guys would be fun to vacation with! Without seeing the cabin video yet, I think the veranda cabin would be just fine. I also think the old world Cunard cruise would be my speed. But this celebrity ship would also be great I think. You guys rock!

We have sailed on the Soltice class ship Equinox back in 2023 our first experience with Celebrity and enjoyed it! I would say a more premium adult cruise vs our cruises on NCL and Carnival in the past.
We enjoyed Celebrity enough to step up to the edge class and we have two cruises both on Ascent.
Our first one in October 2025 for 11 nights out of Rome Itly traveling to parts of Italy, Turkey and Greece staying in a prime Aqua Class cabin.
Our second one is also a 11 night to the Panama Canal and Southern Caribbean in a Aqua class sky suite.

Fantastic ship isn't it! By coincidence we were just on the Italian Riviera 2 weeks ago, with Azamara cruises, and were anchored off Portofino, and the Ascent was across the bay from us. Brought back great memories.

Yes, I too hope they haven't made a mistake. I haven't booked 2 like you, on Queen Anne... I have booked just the one, which is to the Norwegian Fjords. We're all just a bit apprehensive that Cunard have got this right!

We were on the Beyond in May. Outstanding entertainment. We were OK with the Veranda cabin but, I would prefer an actual balcony. All in all, it was a great experience

Well done. This ship seems to be the perfect marriage of scale and upscale. I am currently aboard Cunard’s Queen Victoria. I love this ship but I do find myself wishing for more opportunities to interact with fellow travelers.
The more contemporary look of the ship reminds of pictures I have seen of Cunard’s upcoming Queen Anne. Hmmm 🤔😀

Nice video, not booked Asent, however going on Apex in August, my understanding is they are very similar, so looking forward to it, my only concern with booking any new ship to us, is how s scooter friendly it is, fully expecting it not to be an issue
Hi, the Apex is indeed very similar. We saw quite a few scooters on board
As you know, we are HUGE fans of these Edge Class ships. However, we actually prefer the Apex over this ship which we've experienced twice. Over Thanksgiving we'll be on the Beyond. Sooner or later-we'll catch 'em all. We already have reservations for the Excel next November. This is a very good video Bill and we agree!!
Hi John and Louie! That's intriguing: what's the reason you prefer the Apex? Have a great Thanksgiving on the Beyond. If we're in the same part of the ocean as you, we'll wave, we're on the Holland America Rotterdam, just before Thanksgiving.
@@ritzytravelguide We prefer the set up of the Retreat lounge because there's a lovely outdoor area off to one end that is terrific in the morning. We also like the color esthetic better on the Apex (less burgandy/maroon lol).

brilliant review. Love the edge class ships and have been on edge and Beyond. We also arent keen on the infinite veranda, but its not a deal breaker for us.
What older ship are you going on?
We are on Constellation in May, as we really fancied trying one of the older smaller ships. We have been on reflection two years ago which is a beautiful ship.

Booking our first cruise for next year on this boat. What kind of seafood did they offer on the buffet besides shrimp? Did they offer crab legs or lobster?
Generally the buffet aboard the Ascent, and the other Edge Class of ships is excellent, with so much choice. Lobster these days on any cruise line is more of a rarety.... But, remember to go to the buffet lunch on the last sea day of your Ascent cruise, as it's a seafood extravaganza! Lobster, shrimp, seafood galore, and amazing cakes a desserts
