I did not expect that as #1, but with the categories considered, it makes sense. Very well done. The graphical showing of the category ratings with stars is top-notch. Reminds me of like video game fighter ratings or something so players can quickly translate what fighter is good or best at what. Pretty cool. Rule of Cool reigns supreme.
Katsu seems to be a great starting point similar to bravo. Heartened Cross strap is a good chest piece as a start and MoM can be replaced with other ninja head piece. I see him as a more of an educational ninja than fai.
This video really got my interest into Flesh and Blood since knowledge is always the biggest new player hurdle. Really interested looking more into Bravo.
I'm not trying to nitpick, but my understanding of FaB has always been that it works somewhat like a fighting game, in the sense that it rewards you for knowing deeply how to pilot and navigate gamestates with your prefered character, and, because of that, it's better to get into it with a character you already identify with and want to play long term, rather than picking up an entry level char to then pivot to the one you actually wanted to have as your main. But I might be wrong, I'm not a FaB player, just a MtG and Fg player that has some interest in FaB
What happens if your character rotates? I make a very solid argument for being a 'class main' instead of a 'hero main' in this video: ruclips.net/video/j-pPWMuQOrk/видео.html
I like this list a lot. The only tough part about recommending a hero like Uzuri to a new player is the crash course they will be getting in turn priority (which is ultimately a valuable learning). Inevitably you will show your hand too early a few times and possibly lose a few games, you might otherwise have taken, just trying to figure her out
Great list. It matches my recommendations very closely. I usually just recommend Mech as a blanket b/c the truly share the whole card pool between them depending on how you build out your deck. My only difference is I recommend Rhinar instead of Fai in my top 5, basically due costs of Flamescale Furnace. Though I will point out that I had recommended Draconic as a whole at the beginning of the previous meta when Furnace was $60. New players liked being able to switch between Dromai and Fai with the same card pool. That's a big plus. Dragons and Ninjas are an easy selling point.
I 1000% agree with #1. I started back in May playing Dash and she is the reason I fell in love with this game. So powerful I was winning games even when my only majestic was teklo pounder. Her ability is also perfect for new players, since it's something that just happens at the start of the game it's not something you need to worry about using optimally since it's a deck building consideration more than a turn by turn consideration.
Playing Dori in CC and working on Katsu and Riptide for Blitz, with Katsu leaning toward a 2nd CC. All have Time Before LL'ing (K and R more so than Dori; she gonna go fast next year I think) and ALL Fun AF.
I think Katsu is a better pick than Fai for beginners. Fai is consistent and you rarely have off-turns, but that is not optimal to learn about card values and what to prioritize at which state of the game. I started out on Fai and had a really hard time when I wanted to try dori after a couple of months, I got really frustrated and barely had fun, until I understood that it’s ok to have off turns, or set up a big combo turn! Also if Fai goes LL in CC before a new draconic set is released (heaven forbid), most of the cards from a Fai deck are not gonna be playable in CC for a while..
This was an awesome video! The graphics were amazing! I do agree with Dash being #1. The moment Chane was LL I instantly change to Briar (I had all of her cards thanks to her being my CC deck before). I do not know what I'm going to do after her LLing, hopefully we get another runeblade cause I hate Vynsett xd
Having played Dash/Mech, I would argue against her being the top tier #1 pick. I do agree that, while her cards are interchangeable to some degree with the other Mechs, and that sake of ease to understand how she plays and how boost works, there isn't really a good strategy in learning when to "go go go" and when to slow down for tight turns. When I first started, I did do Dash. But game after game I found myself out of cards or down to two or three and unable to close out games. I found playing the pistol game of "load items and fire multiple pistol shots" was boring. These are of course my thoughts on Dash and they are mildly biased based on my personal experience. I found Bravo to be a very good stepping stone in learning play patterns. When to block, when to use equipment, when to throw a hammer, when to Spinal Crush. Bravo feels like the Timmy in all of us, playing much like a Hulk Smash build of "here's a massive attack. Can you deal with it?" I think the interesting hero on this list was Uzuri. When I started playing, I was advised against playing her, despite how cool she was and from seeing game play. I do think that cost of entry can be pretty steep when you first look at her. While there's lots of budget cards and budget guides out there, the power you get from stuff like Codex and stuff can be hard to replicate. I do wish I had picked her up and expanded with her, but at the same time seeing most of her lists shows me she's very expensive to play if I was to play competitive (I'm a magic player first so I'm more of a "go to a LGS and throw down", not look to get into Protours or whatnot) Overall though I agree with this list and I think you broke them down pretty well
Last year's video, I took a lot of feedback that it took too long to get to the list - so I tried this time around to do the 'reasoning material' at the end.
Love this list. Would almost make it class based as opposed to hero. You essentially do that at the end, discussing dashs cards translating to the other mechs and fais to other ninjas. I would personally recommend Katsu over fai, mainly due to the blocking issue you raised. Both are similar cost and viability, katsu just teaches blocking. Also like the idea of rhinar/brute over uzuri. Classic hero with a new set coming that will provide additional support.
My wife and I when we started really struggled with Brute; trying to figure out how to manage the pitch and the additional discard. It definitely skews my approach to this type of list, for sure.
What’s the consensus on Viserai as a “beginner” hero? I’ve come from other card games and play a bit, but I’m looking for someone to jump into outside of my friend group
VIs isn't super-positioned in the current meta, and there's a bit of a struggle-curve there now that Rosetta is gone (LL'd w/ Briar). That said, as (your words) you're an experienced card gamer? Give is a shot! That value off of Vis is pretty huge long-game. Again, rule of cool - if you want it, do it!!!
I think Valda is super awesome, and guardians are a great start. She simply isn't in CC, but basically all the same arguments as Bravo (she plays differently though, which is fun)!
I've been told this games dead 4 LGS dropped support and sold their stock. I have to go to another state just to enjoy events. Been in the game since Arcane Rising but now it's only magic. Bit of a bumner

Thanks! With all the new boosty boosts she picked up in EVO, it's really pushed her forward IMHO.

Great choices!
I really like Dash as #1. The ability to switch playstyles in the same deck is one of my favourites!
Pew Pew!

Fair points for sure!
Really like the visuals on this
Thanks! This video was a ton of work in editing, glad to hear it paid off!

Ita a nice golden aera
I cant agree more with the number one! Especially the hero switch after she hits ll. Good video, thanks!
kind of hard to argue with this, great list

Regarding Fai to LL, my guess in 2024 there will either a set release covering the Misteria Area or they keep continuing the Uprising Story.

Thanks, put a lot of work in and I really appreciate it!
Easy to play, affordable, growth, and format viable are great categories for beginners
Great video Idea! I hope new players find this and understand it's value!
I hope so too! Please share and help them find it!
Heck, shared it before I left the comment man!@@DiceCommando
Great video! Dash seems tempting…
I still have the bags of Fai and Dromai for you when see you again

Thanks for the feedback! All perspectives matter to the new players entering this with distinctly different backgrounds. Cheers, and thanks!
A very well thought out list. I was wondering if you were going to get to the living legend system, that edition of the end was insightful.
Last year's video, I took a lot of feedback that it took too long to get to the list - so I tried this time around to do the 'reasoning material' at the end.
Well it certainly resulted in a very clean and fun to watch video! Always appreciate how much work and thought you put into every one you release. :)

i know this is kind of a tall question to ask but what do you think of valda as a starter hero
I think Valda is super awesome, and guardians are a great start. She simply isn't in CC, but basically all the same arguments as Bravo (she plays differently though, which is fun)!
i want to start a bravo deck, any good decklist to where to start?
Easiest way to stay on top of most recent decks is to go to FaBTCG.com, and their events tabs, then deck lists. You can search there.
This won't age well, but I guess they never will from here on out. Lol
Nonetheless, this is still a great list!
I hear what you're saying, but what's the alternative? Not having folks enter?
I've been told this games dead 4 LGS dropped support and sold their stock. I have to go to another state just to enjoy events. Been in the game since Arcane Rising but now it's only magic. Bit of a bumner
okie doke
JARRRLLLLLLLL
The viability section of these kinda aged like milk ngl
Indeed. MST blew up everything for sure
