For game nights, it was usually Pokemon when it came to card games for a bit of nostalgia and ease of picking up and playing. Showed them FaB, they had a ball. Next time we went to play Pokemon again, a few bad hands and being able to do nothing later and getting light heartedly frustrated, and my partner asked “can we play Flesh and Blood instead?” And we haven’t looked back. Playing with matched blitz decks is easy at home and lets you mix it up for cheap, and even dipping a toe into more competitive play, it’s tons cheaper than MtG or Pokemon for that side of things

Nice video! I thought I’d share my perspective a little since I think it may be a little different. I enjoyed FaB while I played it but sadly ended up quitting after not being able to upgrade my blitz deck into a classic constructed deck and getting bored of draft/upf. While the balance of the game is good with complete decks, in my experience a complete competitive deck beats a deck with a few missing pieces (especially equipment) most of the time. For myself, I think that the game shares similar issues to a lot of fighting games: the general lack gimmick characters/decks and being completely steamrolled by more experienced players with the expensive equipment and staples. In my 6 months of playing, I’ve seen other new people try the game in draft or UPF but almost no one came back more than twice. Everyone was extremely friendly and even happy to share the cards and I really hope that other stores are getting new players. A few of my friends seem to enjoy this game more than me or became better friends with people at the store (likely both) and I’m very happy that they have found a card game that they like. So I still encourage people to try it through blitz or even cc, especially now that there’s a lesser barrier of entry for it. Yet I sadly have to accept that FaB is not a game for me :(

Only if they change the name of the game to “Command and Conquer” lol but also, they need to make sure they support LL heroes, otherwise most older cards will become worthless and players are forced to play heroes they dont like as much or buying new sets.... which goes against the concept of why i started playing this “non rotating tcg” . I wanted to keep my heroes and update their decks over time to adapt and make different version, but now, if you invest too much in a hero, it feels bad once it goes LL..... or if it gets too many bans. and thats NOT fun. To helpfix this, An evolving suspended/restricted list is ideal. there needs to be more heroes to allow more deck building. Look at how awesome the new star wars tcg is with its rapidly growing roster of leaders. Dragon Ball Masters is the best at pumping out thematic and complex heroes, and even the newer more simpler One Piece has released more leaders than FaB. Theres also alpha clash... I really like Blitz and Commoner, both which need more tournament support. But UPF is not optimal, it needs better rules, and “politics” is not an excuse for a poor multiplayer game. Just my $0.02
I dont think they will ever change the LL system so fundamentally like that. I think they will lean on the LL format instead to give people the option of playing with their old decks. Their current approach is to make the cards that LL that arent tied to a specific hero become playable within a year of them being "out of rotation". You see this with the retrains of heroes and like in recent sets. In Rosetta they specifically chose make the lightning and earth cards playable again. I think around 20 heroes a year is more than good enough which is around what is going to come out this year. I'd rather have well supported and designed heroes vs what One piece does where there's a ton of leader cards that get 0 competitive play.
Hard agree on upf rulings being a bit scuffed, hard disagree on needing more heroes. One piece for example has ton of leaders... Of which only like 3 are played at high level tournaments. Having a bit fewer heroes, but well balanced and supported is way more important. I don't want new player to see a hero they like and hear it's "pretty unplayable" or a "worst version of another one". I already had to warn a new player about arakni. Which honestly is the only hero who falls in this category of seeming he won't ever become better.
@@forfunsies5427 yes, but more can be better! with one piece, its a simpler game and thats why I play it only casually. more leaders lets players have more fun by reenacting their fborite anime battles. Dragon Ball Masters is superb since almost every leader is viable in winning a major tourney, especially with sideboard. meanwhile, the game is both complex and casually fun for thematic battles. Finally, how could more heroes be worse if they are all well-deaigned? and the game NEEDS more heroes if it's ever going to become casual / multpilayer
This game has the dynamism of single player card games (slay the spire) with all the good stuff that comes from pvp and in person play, everything well balanced
Do I like the game yes. Do I still enjoy playing it? Not really. Feeling burned out with mst, hh was great and I thought kayo was a mistake, now all 3 mst heroes are really unfun to play against, zen is a real problem. Will have to drop the game for some time and return next year because when mst released i stoped enjoying it.
This is my first video of yours that I watch as I'm looking to visit the game for Rosetta since I loved the art from Tales of Aria but never pulled the trigger back then. I'm pleasantly surprised to find a Canadian content creator as we Canadians seem to be kinda few and far between online. Do you have any shops you can recommend buying from for FaB product? My LGS stopped carrying the game after Monarch...
I began the game with blitz with Lexi at the time not knowing about the living legend rule. as a player who had the funds, i bought into the initial important pieces like New Horizons, Channel Lake Frigid and a bunch of other powerful ranger cards hoping to slowly build my way to CC as at the time, i knew Lexi was my hero and my favourite of all. Ofc a few months later i came to find out that lexi had become living legend and basically was told that my deck was banned everywhere except blitz. by this time the LGS i played at stopped hosting blitz and was starting to move to CC as most players were starting off with blitz and were now starting to play CC to prep for events. Kind of the reason i dont like FaB. however, i am still looking for reasons to try a different hero but am holding off a lot on buying cards after this incident.
"Quit Magic and never looked back." It feels like you are still looking back, just with venom instead of fondness. I enjoy watching your videos to learn more about FaB, but each one seems to have several Jabs at Magic. Even this one mentioned multiple times about one of magics bad products. And then the comparison you made felt kindof disingenuous. Is it overcosted? Absolutely, its a produxt i wouldnt buy. But its price is jacked up due to being alt arts and foils. Your paying extreme prices for fancy cardboard not to access certain cards(its still an eggregious price though). As someone who still plays magic(and several other tcg) despite some gripes about the company, it gets a little annoying when it comes accross that i should play FaB because magic sucks. I cant really get into the mindset of liking something becasue something else was worse. Especially since FaB is so insanely different from how most other TCG play. It combines the "any card is mana" aspect of Lorcana with the speed of Yugioh. And then on top of that GREATLY mitigates the card advantage fights other tcg have by giving player their full hand back every turn. Id like it better if there was more focus on what FaB does differently and why it is good, instead of looking at what they do the same and pointing out how others are worse. Idk, that was kindof a rant. I do love your videos. I just keep running into MTG hate and it annoyd me a little. I havent watched all of your videos either, so maybe ive just been unlucky and only seen the ones that have those jabs.
I am thoroughly enjoying FaB. It provides a play style that I have not gotten from other TCGs. Almost similar to Final Fantasy in pitching etc but this feels like a superior fighting game. And when I say fighting game I mean it is virtually the TCG equivalent of a Tekken or Street Fighter. Dash i/O for life. Come at me bro!
When I was younger the best time I had playing MTG was when I had a deck built with a strong theme (Simic). What I love about FAB is the decks built around a hero feel very flavorful.
Yugioh players are some of the most toxic people I ever met. Seattle actually shut down selling yugioh in like 90% of local stores because of the toxic behaviors of people. It’s all magic, Pokémon and Flesh and blood now here
When i first started FaB, i thought it fixed all of Magic's problems. As I played more, it actually started feeling less complex. Since you always draw up, there is rarely a reason to not empty your hand every turn cycle, making nearly every matchup feel like youre just throwinf your hands at each other with numbers as guidance. Maybe it gets better as you get better at the game, but i returned to MtG after a bit.
i am not the biggest fan of the game itself but the community really is amazing plus it dosnt release 500 new expansions every month so its alot more wallet friendly to play
I just paid double for 2 armory decks on CM because it's sold out everywhere i go :D I'm not even mad. There is just something about New Zealand i tell you. My favorite PC game is Path of Exile from Grinding Gear Games, also from New Zealand. Flesh and blood is scratching that same itch. I also like One Piece, i just can't help myself with that franchise :D
As a new player, not only are the cards over priced, I could not find any of them even if I was going to pay for them. Most of what you argued sounds like sunken cost.
@@jackhingos7741 By comparing to how many very nice meals it can get me personally. If a piece of cardboard costs more than three trips out to a sit in restaurant than it is overproced in my book
Starter decks also need around $500 worth of upgrades to be competitive. The prizes in their major tournaments being those stupid mystery envelopes is just crap. All that time & hard work to win and get an assured Cold Foil... just to pull a common. 🤣
I play during 2 years but sell everything, And I was very frustrate, card drop is so low and price are so high, And nobody play without optimum deck, so if you don't have the best card (the most expensive) you can't compete against other, even in armory with your friends. Thats really sad because the game is really cool Also power creep is abuse in last edition (Kayo and Zen) Lexi was let destroy everything because her deck was really expensive, until its LL and all the player have to buy new things. Kayo has taken 500point of LL in 2 month, and they give him imba torso, and 3 blue.....what the point ? ---> money money money And Zen is absurd, I honestly don't thinks they really test the deck, or it's really a money strategie of power creep
The big question for me is: does it cost upwards of 100+ dollars to put together a competent deck? card affordability is a big hurdle for players like me getting into a new card game
@@fencingfireferret1188 you can purchase an Armory deck for $40-50 and they are quite good. There's also Commoner which is growing in popularity where decks are like $15. But for a fully tuned CC deck, you're looking at $400 on the low end
Yes it is. However as someone who loves the game I have zero scene around me. This game needs to change its philosophy to look into an official online client. It’s a brilliant game.
@@stigmurder99 I don’t disagree lol, but time is a factor for me as I have a few kids and I’m busy with them. Nearest place that plays is an hour from me and I can’t just go on a whim. Maybe one day!
The game is awesome but the problem is the equipment pieces if you don’t what to spend 200$ to 300$ so tou can buy one to two legendary equipment because if not you will never be abel to compete with other players that do so.
The game game kind of accessible equipment with temper so you can compete in therms of tempo against players who have the legendary equipment that dor the most part always have that ability. And having the tempo is the key to win in flesh and blood. And that is the reason that i quit playing it. 😕
What scared us away was the speculators. Everyone bought boxes like they released mtg Alpha 2.0 and the cards would be worth a fortune later without even playing the game (which was mediocre as we actually tried it out)
They killed casual and armories (Elo instead of EXP, prizes are lackluster, playmats/promos are worthless), its all about competitive play. Which makes it not worth playing. Better to just judge events than to play at this point.
I would not travel either to FAB tournament but those guys who top8-wins those events are true gamers and must be respected unlike some other game winners are just 'ok'. The game is for you if you like challenge.
@@cyanidecologne9018 Even bringing all your stuff needed can ask some logistics in this game and understandable this time consuming hobby should be 'rewarding' sometimes meaning high price support or interesting games (equally skilled players, good environment etc)

@@herrjohnny6496 the main core was it is NOT rotating game. The heroes should rotate but not other cards. We should get new heroes that use those old cards not totaly new cards that make older cards a trash.

Take all the $60 cards and print them into the ground or let me compete with proxies. I am happy for there to be ultra rare cards that are chase collectables, but they either need to be alternative art treatments of a cheaper and more commonly available card or unplayable trash. if you are happy because you payed $274 for a single card you are gaslighting yourself. it almost certainly didnt cost more than 50cents to manufacture you got scammed.

More doesn't always mean better
The hand refreshing feels very much like Slay the Spire!
This video is going to get me into checking out the game! Thanks so much
Do I like the game yes.
The devs and the community don't put enough love into UPF. Bums me out. I'll come back to the game if we ever see PvE
This is a piece of art, will be sharing with all the curious tcg players
> Is it worth playingg Flesh and Blood?
> Bajillion flesh and blood posters in the background
I WILL NOT STAND BY SILENTLY AND ALLOW YOU TO SLANDER THE HUNTSMAN.
Great video - slick editing. 🤘😎
Great video. Better than the how I tried to approach this same topic.
I love watching Flesh and Blood gameplay and was curious when this video popped up cuz it’s been very difficult to find an LGS in my area to play 😔
Fab has been my number 1 ever since Monarch. Best tcg going around.
"Quit Magic and never looked back."
It feels like you are still looking back, just with venom instead of fondness.
I moved on to play Grand Archive and BSS (Battle Spirit Saga)
Great video!
Also Grand Archive mentioned, instant like lol
Fantastic video as always. Hope to hang out in person again one day sooner than later😭. Tampa?
Great video. Definitely an amazing game, and well worth checking out.
It is absolutely worth it flesh and blood is hands down the best tcg I've ever played and I've played alot
Great video. Still think this game deserves more attention what it gets, at least locally.
Tell me about it. My LGSs basically gave up on FaB. They stopped selling it, and they said they have no intention of doing it again.
Your videos became so professionally looking. U really have had a gigachad glowup. Great work on your videos!
Great video Wes!
Thank you my friend
I just bought an Aria blitz deck for like $12 from my local shop because of the art no idea what it is but is love to know if this deck is good
I'm still waiting for LSS to make my Benji viable
When I was younger the best time I had playing MTG was when I had a deck built with a strong theme (Simic). What I love about FAB is the decks built around a hero feel very flavorful.
Good video and nice job for the game !
Yugioh players are some of the most toxic people I ever met. Seattle actually shut down selling yugioh in like 90% of local stores because of the toxic behaviors of people. It’s all magic, Pokémon and Flesh and blood now here
I think fab is the most unique tcg ever created
When i first started FaB, i thought it fixed all of Magic's problems. As I played more, it actually started feeling less complex. Since you always draw up, there is rarely a reason to not empty your hand every turn cycle, making nearly every matchup feel like youre just throwinf your hands at each other with numbers as guidance. Maybe it gets better as you get better at the game, but i returned to MtG after a bit.
Yeah it's way more in depth than that as you get better
"Have a fighting chance at your locals" - never happened.
Tolarian community college meets josh strife hayes 😅
Sloopdoop doing gods work 👼
i am not the biggest fan of the game itself but the community really is amazing plus it dosnt release 500 new expansions every month so its alot more wallet friendly to play
Don't even need convincing, just here for the new sloop content.
I just paid double for 2 armory decks on CM because it's sold out everywhere i go :D
I'm not even mad.
Huh
Lol
As a new player, exactly how do you determine what's overpriced?
Thats really sad because the game is really cool
Also power creep is abuse in last edition (Kayo and Zen)
Lexi was let destroy everything because her deck was really expensive, until its LL and all the player have to buy new things.
Kayo has taken 500point of LL in 2 month, and they give him imba torso, and 3 blue.....what the point ? ---> money money money
And Zen is absurd, I honestly don't thinks they really test the deck, or it's really a money strategie of power creep
@@Sloopdoop ugh that's hella discouraging ngl.
@@fencingfireferret1188 👍
Yes it is. However as someone who loves the game I have zero scene around me. This game needs to change its philosophy to look into an official online client. It’s a brilliant game.
I get your point but the game is literally about getting people together in the Flesh and Blood for gaming...
@@stigmurder99 100% just sucks it won’t be accessible more a large majority
@robertviscomi8199 the majority of people suck anyways it'll be okay just find some friends and teach them 😆
@@stigmurder99 I don’t disagree lol, but time is a factor for me as I have a few kids and I’m busy with them. Nearest place that plays is an hour from me and I can’t just go on a whim. Maybe one day!
You start strong and end weak? Sounds like a terrible game right away.
nah, I'll stick to magic. didn't take long for the "hurr durr its better than magic" snobs to become loud enough push me away from the game.
What scared us away was the speculators. Everyone bought boxes like they released mtg Alpha 2.0 and the cards would be worth a fortune later without even playing the game (which was mediocre as we actually tried it out)
Guess who’s back ! 👀
No locals within an hour from my house, all cancelled, so unfortunately I play on talishar only
They killed casual and armories (Elo instead of EXP, prizes are lackluster, playmats/promos are worthless), its all about competitive play. Which makes it not worth playing. Better to just judge events than to play at this point.
I would not travel either to FAB tournament but those guys who top8-wins those events are true gamers and must be respected unlike some other game winners are just 'ok'. The game is for you if you like challenge.
Yea Noone plays outside of the bigger tournaments in my area so it's effectively dead for growth
@@cyanidecologne9018 Even bringing all your stuff needed can ask some logistics in this game and understandable this time consuming hobby should be 'rewarding' sometimes meaning high price support or interesting games (equally skilled players, good environment etc)
11:35 say no more. flesh and blood is NOT worth getting into
Looks like myst change the powering down, and made a power up.
I dunno man. The whole reason I want to leave yu-gi-oh is the feeling of being priced out. I'm not sure if I want to get into this anymore.
Dude please be honest. This game is expensive no matter how long the card last, the moment there are core pieces that cost 50 USD or more is deterring new player. New players without those core pieces will just lose to those with it.
Okay so just play against those who don't have it then?
Artwork is good but the actual card design is ugly and cheap looking.
Man, this is the best Flesh and Blood video ever made. Every point that makes Flesh and Blood such an amazing game you brought up. Keep up the amazing work, and showing the world again and again why it’s is STILL worth playing Flesh and Blood.
Reported this video for the murder at 18:20.
I haven't gone back to that timestamp but I'm willing to bet it was the YGO shower roast
@@Sloopdoopit was the FAB's box Pricing vs Collectors Boosters' bit.
To build a enigma only missing cards from mist i needed to spend 400$ - and that is rly too much. I would prefer more use of old cards than pushing new ones.
Thats the point! FaB is a rotating game just like MtG (Standard/Modern)
@@herrjohnny6496 the main core was it is NOT rotating game. The heroes should rotate but not other cards. We should get new heroes that use those old cards not totaly new cards that make older cards a trash.

Where's the steampunk cowboy?
great value tolerian cc proffessor. i like it.

@@Sloopdoop Thanks lad :)
I have always found card games to be interesting, but I cannot stomach spending more than $60 for a properly competitive deck ,which is impossible in basically every TCG.
As long as they are selling (they are), they won't change this philosophy
@@GuilhermeDiGiorgi You aint wrong and neither is he
Actually I'm very happy If I pay $274 for a card, play with it for a while then sell it later for $300.
@@Steamedhams578maybe you are but not all of us can waste that much money to buy in.
As I said I am happy for $274 cards to exist, I just want them to be rare alternative art treatments or intentionally made unplayable trash.
You can buy the card hold it for a while and then sell it for $300. But I will buy the version that is functionally identical but only costs 50 cents.
@@Steamedhams578 And how often are you selling the cards you buy for a profit? Not how many could you maybe, but how much have you made selling compar3ed to what you paid?
I stopped buying magic card when they started play booster as a excuse to bring booster boxes to 130 a piece with fewer card in them. As much as I love magic the gathering. I can't support these evil greedy companies. I am going to be trying this game with my brother if we like it we will be willing to buy more and even go play at a lgs.

20:15 - buying a 100$ display and it turning out to be a complete dud of 6 majestics that go for pennies is pretty anticonsumer to me tbh. Why do legendaries have to be once per case. It's quite stupid.
That also raises an issue with lose boxs if it's one legendary per case then someone can just sell the boxs that don't have a legendary in it.
I don't think they are once per case, I once got 2 from one Heavy Hitters booster display. It may be that at least one is guaranteed.
It's been pretty clear just buying one display is not gonna be worth it for fab. Either buy at least a case or just get singles. 1 rainbow foil legendary per box I would like but i dont know how that would affect the secondary market
I’d say nah, game is dying. Damn riptide
This game is like having a jojo stand
