Wang Hao had better forehand.His defence wasn't good but his strokes were better.
I'm tearful watching this in 2023, as top penholder players like them are extinct.

Congratulations to Wang Hao, this is the best table tennis ever. He gave the game but was not destroyed. Xu Xin has dedicated this love to young people and super players all over the world.

Mash Monster Yes they can, but not that often. There are only 2 penholders in the top 20 today.
Skywalker: This is no longer true. You could try to list "a lot of weak points in Wang Hao's game", and you will probably see, that there are not so many, and none of them is specific for penhold (I think). Also, penhold does have strong points too.
@@skywalker1296 thats because no one plays as a penholder anymore, not because penhold is weak. Actually, penhold with rpb is literally the same as shakehand, except penholders have more wrist flexibility for adding more spin on the serve

This is insane between two penholders. Both relied on explosive footwork to give way to FH rallies, which is rarely seen these days.
The best penholders for me (at least my favourite ones) were or are:
1. Liu Guoliang
2. Ryu Seung Min
3. Ma Lin
4. Wang Hao
5. Xu Xin
The order can be modified as people like, but the names should remain... 🤔

应该感谢ITTF，估计以后的日子里，TABLE TENNIS 会慢慢变成LITTLE TENNIS ，像王皓，许昕，马琳这种靠技战术，靠思考，靠灵活变通的直拍选手会慢慢被万恶的ITTF抹杀，直到消失。都变成欧洲人那种拼蛮力的比赛方法。让选手疲于奔命，再慢慢磨死一批又一批选手。看看他们因为这两年的改革新添了多少伤病，ITTF的人们才是一群只知自己利益的垃圾官员们。中国早点不参加他们的比赛，发展发展自己的乒超，中国杯，中锦赛有什么不好

Esto deberían verlo todos los profesores de tenis de mesa de la vieja escuela, ya que si no enseñan estilo clásico enseñan estilo lapicero o penhold con el revés tradicional sin ataque, ya ven que es de lo mejor el estilo mariposa por su ataque con efecto en revés.
Roberto Carlos Almaza Almaza Tienes razón. Pero incluso a Wang Hao le costó trabajo, pues una vez leí que al principio sus compañeros creían que su técnica era inferior, y fue por su singular talento que logró posicionar el revés con penhold al derrotar a Ma Lin.

los entrenamientos de penhold aca en chile no practican el reves con topspin, solo corte.....(la vieja escuela enseñan que hay que ser mas rapido para buscar el derecho y poder remachar con topspin)....seria bueno que los niños aprendan el estilo mariposa para compesar la falta de ataque de reves y desgaste fisico, porque la mayoria de jugadores que sobresalen son los de estilo clasico.......gracias por tu comentario........

That's the beauty of penhold table tennis, we can see many long rallies.
Not like shake hand, where the rallies end with one two shots and very less long rallies with the ball.
