Really good run, but I particularly want to praise Mithical9's commentary, which was polished, informative, and most of all, entertaining. Even Krankdud couldn't help but laugh along. There was very little dead air, and I liked the way he knew when to ask for donations to be read out instead of relying on the host's prompts. It can't be easy being the sole commentator - aside from the runner, whose comments contributed a lot as well - but he did a great job!
There are few things as underappreciated in a GDQ run than a really excellent co-commentator, it's one of those little things that can really take a run from impressive to entertaining
I'm glad Mithical9 mentioned the Japanese voice clips in this game, it's something I like a lot and think adds a lot of charm to this game. Agreed on Phoenix's voice being one of the best of the bunch too.
Shout out to to the commentary by Mithical9. It's great to have context given to a game that I'm completely unfamiliar with, and there seems to be a great upswing over hte last couple years of reliably providing good commentary in the midst of the run.
All of the Guardian levels were godlike, pretty well optimised if you ask me. Really surprised at the Leviathan and Fefnir levels. The commentary for this game was spot on, props to both runners, nice to see mutual appreciation form the commentary to the fellow runner. Overall one of my favorite runs so far. The trick at 43:00 was massive. Also, can't remember the last time we got a WR on GDQ.
This is my favorite speedrun of this game for so many reasons. The run itself is amazing and very close to the world record. The skips were preformed amazingly. AND THAT COMMENTARY.
Great run, one of the best of the whole marathon. The megaman zero games are quite underrated, they are honestly solid games if you like MMX series, but still not a lot of people play them.
Have loved watching Megaman Zero runs what seems like every event so far the past couple years but I think this one is the best I've watched yet! Incredibly skilled runner and fantastic commentary to go with it. Well done guys!
good commentary like this is what makes a run. it makes you want to play the game yourself. really really well done. also, this is my favorite donation reader. her voice is so enjoyable to listen to.
Tbh at first I was a bit sad this was done on hard because I would not have been able to see sick boss Instakills and the other cool tech runners do. HOWEVER THIS RUN WAS A VERY ENJOYABLE WATCH!
Eh, I care more about keeping the Saber bisecting myself. Way more satisfying to slash a boss to death and watch it eek out its last words while cut in half.
This is unreal. I just beat MMZ2, and while it is an incredible game that I adore, it can be very, very difficult. If you've never played the Zero games, idk if you can fully appreciate the level of precision, skill and knowledge on display here. I feel like his brain has to be working at 500% a normal human brain to be executing this many movements and techniques so quickly and flawlessly. Also, amazing commentary. Some of the best I've heard.
lol yeah. he actually says 'moero' or however that is spelled which something like 'burn' in japanese. as for phoenix he just has a pattern to get used to. the guy waits for your first attack and teleports. when reappears hit him again to damage and flinch him. if you have the thunder chip it helps. also pay attention to when the ground starts to shake and dont attack till the flame pillars finish rising up.
He's using ProtoForm, which is mentioned at the start as having non-charging weapons (minus shield), taking double damage, and doing an extra point of damage for every attack. ProtoForm possibly a reference to the false Black Zero that Sigma builds in Megaman X2.
This game looks like it would be awesome if not for all those obnoxious cutscenes with so much skip dialogue. Whose idea was it to begin to put that in Megaman games? They should be optional to remove entirely in options to free the player from the endless skipping.
The dialogue is unskippable on the first runs of the Megaman Zero games (besides MMZ1 and the first runs of hard mode in each game I believe) so that the player can experience the story. After you beat the game once you can skip the cutscenes completely whenever they are prompted in New Game Plus. It's a fair trade-off, IMO, since the story is actually quite solid in comparison to the previous games that were cut and dry "good guy defeats bad guy" stories, with some cool twists or revelations.

Agreed, within the first few minutes I could tell this would be a pleasant one.
I agree. He also does a good job explaining the game for newcomers.
There are few things as underappreciated in a GDQ run than a really excellent co-commentator, it's one of those little things that can really take a run from impressive to entertaining
A little dead air is preferable.. some time to think is good for people.. some tension to pull people back in and appreciate commentary flavor
If only his crowd wasn't so tough
World records at GDQ are the best things.
I've always loved how round 2 of the bosses is the epic generals of Neo Arcadia...and Burble Heckelot.
Yeah...
Now if only Phantom hadn't gone all Kamikaze on Zero like an idiot in the first game 😖💣💥⚰😭
And funnily enough, Burble Heckelot is the most dangerous of them all.
And what makes it even better is that the frog is the hardest of them all.
I'm glad Mithical9 mentioned the Japanese voice clips in this game, it's something I like a lot and think adds a lot of charm to this game. Agreed on Phoenix's voice being one of the best of the bunch too.
Seems they brought it back in the legacy collection
@@MisterPudd They were never gone in the first place

You never played Megaman Zero? Sucks to be you.
I get chills everytime 1:00:43
The run, the commentary, the yell, the music. Amazing!
Having to make plans for dealing with Zero would be awful. He just flies through defences and tears his foes apart in seconds.
"WHY DID THEY GIVE HIM MORE WEAPONS?! WHYYYYY?!"
I have great idea what if
*WE FILL THE ENTIRE PLACE WITH SPIKES* - a reproid pitching an idea to copy X mk ll in mmz3

Imagine being a reploid guarding neo arcadia and this guy just came smashing everything along the way.
Easily the best run of the marathon. WR, incredible couch commentary, great execution throughout, and never a dull moment.
This is my favorite speedrun of this game for so many reasons.
The run itself is amazing and very close to the world record.
The skips were preformed amazingly.
AND THAT COMMENTARY.
Same. My favorite is Z2. zwz
Kick-ass runner, god tier commentary
Very good job by both the commentary and gameplay
I am always very glad to see MMZ in these marathons - and so much more when it's this good!
Great run, one of the best of the whole marathon. The megaman zero games are quite underrated, they are honestly solid games if you like MMX series, but still not a lot of people play them.

This is definitely gonna be in the highlights of 2019 speedruns. Fun and superbly executed.
The Phoenix kicked my ass so many times and always giving me the bad pattern that I learned how to dodge the fire coming upwards from the ground lmao
The art is so solid in this game, I really love it.. the world is so immersive
The hair dictates your rank in the resistance. I don’t know why that made me laugh
Damn mmz in 2019, this is blessed
This is literally one of the most impressive feats of gaming.
absolutely phenomenal run and fantastic commentator! this wasn't boring for even a single second, super talented folk
One of the best commentary in this AGDQ for sure!
Incredible run, playing this game on Normal is already tough, but on Hard, it's just insane.
Thanks, Krankdud!
This is amazing. I can fondly remember playing this on the city bus on my way to school as a younger kid.
Same. Tell you the truth, when I was alone and friend, games always had my bad.
Tbh at first I was a bit sad this was done on hard because I would not have been able to see sick boss Instakills and the other cool tech runners do. HOWEVER THIS RUN WAS A VERY ENJOYABLE WATCH!
Harpuia level in a nutshell:
"SWEET JESUS, Zero...what did you do!?"
"It was an accident."
amazing commentary for my fav series. props to the runner too for his solid gameplay and amazing use of shield boomerang
Agdq2019 started fantastic, lots of good runs and commentary in my opinion.
Krankdud with not one but TWO world records (with N++ co-op) at this GDQ!
Commentary was just awesome and so was the run, good work guys!
Wonderful commentary and Amazing runner Krankdud! Thank you!
Mithical9 has become one of the top commentators along with SpikeVegeta and BigJohn and PJ
This is probably my favorite GDQ run of all time
Superb couch commentary
The commentary alone made me watch the whole speedrun without noticing.
This commentary script and the commentator is SO GOOD
4 years later and MY GOD he makes this look easy! 🤯
I know right?
I barely even realize the robo blood, but to be honest , they should of left it in the US ver.
Eh, I care more about keeping the Saber bisecting myself. Way more satisfying to slash a boss to death and watch it eek out its last words while cut in half.
One of my favorite games of all time. And props to the commentator for the god narration
Loved the runner and the commentary!
Keep up the good work everyone!
Don't usually comment but I had to say that the commentation was fantastic! The guy was so consistent, informative, and funny too. Great run!
Megaman zero series deserve more love. Awesome games.

But mmz2 actually hardest games unlike mmz3 and mmz4
Amazing run, amazing commentary!
Wow, the commentary and the runner are amazing!
dat couch commentary. Mithical9 making couch commentary look easy. Speed running through that commentary
Nonstop barrage of quality commentary! Great run, great watch!
This is one of the best commentaries I've ever heard.
@10:44 and @14:56 jesus christ that shield manipulation is really well done
I love when speedrunners screw around during parts where they just have to wait for something. Make it 10x more enjoyable.
the prophecy has been fulfilled
Megaman Zero has returned
Excellent commentary.
this guy's commentary is on point!
Amazing gameplay and fantastic commentary wow
Amazing run and commentary
This is the best 2D Mega Man game ever made.
Yeah! The whole zero series is 👌
Eh. I'd say zero 3 but that's my opinion
Mine’s megaman zero 4.
This was a great run, great watch the whole way through.
This was elite ESPN type commentary.
Amazing run and commentary!
42:59 I wish I knew about this trick when I played this game.
sadly it can only be done on the Japanese version.
I wish it would still be done on the USA version.
Krankdud is a god
Underrated as hell megaman game.
Nah the design of the characters, especially the bosses are sick in this game.
Great commentary
It took me months to complete all the zero games with s-ranks
When I played this, I could swear that Pheonix was saying Bueno.
Then he killed me, again, and again, and again...
lol yeah. he actually says 'moero' or however that is spelled which something like 'burn' in japanese.

He's like Cyber Peacock combined with Blaze Heatnix
26:58 No bias, but that's the best part of the run
This commentary is out of control. How the hell can you keep it up for the entire run without missing a beat?
That's a really cool thumbnail wtf
Let's go KrankDaddy
So if somehow a runner got a no death run of this game, we could break the one hour barrier?
Fantastic run
Great job.
Impressive!
46:25 I'm sure that either is a submarine, or a manta ray
My favorite mmz
Kinda crazy to think the GBA didn't have a sound chip, which is why so many songs sounds improvised, the cpu handles all the audio lmfao
Krankdud Kranking that WR!
Insane Run!
How do u start off with the black suit?
It is automatically unlocked in Hard Mode.
I think you also unlock it by beating the game and can use it in NG+, but I am not sure.
now i'm wondering if MMZ is related to MML
MMZ is set after MMX, so no.
The main timeline essentially goes
Classic -> X -> Zero -> ZX -> Legends
Zero has no inherent nods to Legends though, so make of it what you will
This game was an ordeal and a half too 100%
'dat shield work thou.
Great run! By the way, are they using an emulator?
I never beat the first set of boss when i was a kid, and this guy just blazing through them like they are nothing....
Why is Zero green in this game?
LORE help!
Hard mode
He's using ProtoForm, which is mentioned at the start as having non-charging weapons (minus shield), taking double damage, and doing an extra point of damage for every attack. ProtoForm possibly a reference to the false Black Zero that Sigma builds in Megaman X2.
Why is zero's color different?
Proto form/hard mode
YOUM! Krankdud Soulja Boy~
damn i just beat hard mode in 1:34:52. but, you do great
Wow that’s really nice. That’s REALLY hard to beat.

very anticlimatic, i really wanted to see the rest of the ending
