Interesting. In Eʋe, to cover or cut off is Kpà. Rs are usually not pronounced like in Selorm, so Eʋe would still pronounce Kpar as Kpa. I could say Ekpà nye nuvɔ̃ dzí "He covered my sin".

Fascinating. Talking about silent Rs, the word baraka, meaning bless or thank, became boka in Sesotho and bonga in isiZulu. Shalom.

I almost forgot. Similarly, to cut in Sesotho is kapa. A hat, which is a covering of the head, is called kefa. Could it be that we are the ones who covered our heads first, and the converts learned it from us?

@@andrewkekana Wow you have a good point there. This getting even more interesting. In Eʋe you will see more of Kp, so hat is Kposɔ in Eʋe. Peter/Cephas is Kpé in Eʋe and literally means a stone. A rock is Agakpe, Fish is Akpà, to Assemble/Congregate as in a church is Kpé. From this we can see why the symbol of the church is the shape of a fish. It's basically the older Hebrew letters for Ka and Pa put together. What I question is how did the converts manage to decipher so much of our ancestors' language?
