Incredible BD standard. Think is my favorite Dylan 60's song after Blowing in the wind. The words & tune makes me so nostalgic to the point that tears come to my eyes every time I hear it remembering those times & that incredible era. Beautiful Band backing him up as well. God bless & Keep BD with us for a long time to come still yet-- He is so Iconic for All of Us. ❤️✌️
My sentiments exactly. My BD era was when I lived in Austin TX. Saw him in June of 86 with Tom Petty on the True Confessions Tour. Every day I feel nostalgic for those days so bad I want to return to Austin.
The song that made a lifelong fan out of me. I saw myself and my life in every single word that was sung. I was just a teenager then, and all the pains of adolescence, the quarreling with parents, and girlfriends and fickle friends were all addressed in this song. Yes, this just might be the best song ever written. Thanks for the upload.
Wow, really nice version. I'd love to see video of this show. This is right up there with my fave version (so far) which is on the "dressed up like a squire" bootleg.
@ Frame 313 Guess you are a younger person and didn't grow up with Robert Zimmerman AKA Bob Dylan . You have probably never attended one of his early concerts either. He wasn't a great musician like Glen Campbell but he was exceptional in his songwriting second to none. His own interviews were where he explained to the public he could not be expected to produce ballads and songs that his earlier talents possessed. I know of none who could write and perform such long unrepeated lines of lyrics. My reference was it's hell to grow old and remember how it was when we were young. Yep Rick Danko;s wife said " no one ever told me about this" She was living in senior housing at that time. I've been luckier than most. I'm in my 70's now so there's not a lot that upsets me now. Try not to be too critical of me i hope you are able to find good friends and love like I have. Just enjoy today and try to remember it could be your last because we really never know. I am, and always have been a faithful Bob Dylan fan
Born in Duluth Minnesota, moved to Hibbing when I was 14. Dylan is a fucking god in my family, I own everything he's ever written, sang, and filmed. I'm 53, it's my opinion he's still a great writer, again is just my OPINION
You don't know Bob, very well. He used his voice inflections, to cut even deeper. Listen to original ffomvthe 60'. He had a great voice. He choose to sing his songs, on what was going on inside him. Listen to -- Sara by Dylan on YT. I think he's in white face, but his emotions come out so clear in this live performance. You can tell he really loved her. That one performance will show you what I am saying
another Dylan song that I can't find the original studio version to: the problem for me, is that the original studio versions were the best, I listened to them on vinyl, and they hit all the marks, the trouble with being made to grow older from the 60's is that you're not there anymore, and the youthful cutting edge cool has become older person compliance and acceptance: Dylan's sheer force and edge were in the 60's, and his influence even extended to the Beatles...
Every nuance and note of the original is ingrained in my brain and will never be erased until I'm dead. There's nothing like the originals of this stuff. This is a great version but....
Slow Winter freeze, Loads of people in the streets, just minutes away from freezin. Bob Dylan was duly awarded for Nobel Prize only for this and the rest of his works
the question is what difference does it make if things happen for a reason or they don't ? oh wait, the real question ... besides that one is To be or not to be
Personally, I doubt Donald or Hillary has ever really been your friend, This song should be reserved for those folks who pretended to be your friend and then stabbed you in the back; sometimes, several times. Think personal.
you would be real surprised what this song is really about !!real surprised and its not at all what you and most think, Bob knows truth bro, theres so much in this song,goodness1
I'm sorry Mr. Dylan, but this song is much better played by Johnny Rivers, full of excitement and swing. Mr. Dylan worried too much about the poem and forgot the heart to whom it is addressed. Note 9 for the composition and Interpretation 1. Anyway, earned his intention. Our luck was Johnny Rivers ... rsrsrsrsrsr
I suppose you could just as easily??? But no, with the wikilleaks-a-flowing, I'd say that EVERY LINE in this song was made with Hillary Clinton in mind!!
I love this guy,,, but he does not love me. Try singalonga, you got all his albums, he sings em different live. My old dad loved him since day one, my sisters bought tickets for them and dad. He sang all night with his back to the audience. Sighhh. True.
He is so cool...and can change his voice in a song..i love this..

Positively 4th Street was originally sung by Dylan with anger, as I recall. The years have mellowed Dylan out.
Jorge Espinosa.
yes! I used to refer to
this as his Angry song 😊
wow...this is so good. I never tire of listening to Dylan as he re-invents his work through the years...
a man of mystery and yes undeniably one of the greatest songwriters of all time

Wow, really nice version. I'd love to see video of this show.
This is right up there with my fave version (so far) which is on the "dressed up like a squire" bootleg.
Im not sure if it's the same show but I remember that B. Sprigsteen & N. Young came out on stage for the encore.
Thanks again bob....
LOVE!!!!!!
Bob Dylan always finds a way to adapt even when his voice and writing talents have eroded with time. Aging is hell for us all
Huh??? His voice may have, but to say his writing has is fucking absurd

Probally more in this song than any other and it can pass you if you are not in tune to bobby.

C'mon Hamid, just buy it, and then your child can have it, as well.
I realize I'm replying to people who, after two years, have probably moved on, but I reply for the sake of later readers like you. Yes, you.
DYLAN, PURO!!!
Such simplified chords, but not in his hands!~E
I prefer the more passionate, version, heck I like anything he sings !
Pretty good .... :-)

Every word of this song, I'd sing to Hillary Clinton right now!!
shouldn't u say it to Trump as well, none better than the other
I suppose you could just as easily???
But no, with the wikilleaks-a-flowing, I'd say that EVERY LINE in this song was made with Hillary Clinton in mind!!
All for going electric.
Sorry folks but his voice has deteriorated so much that I welcome the instrumental parts- and I’m a fan of 50 years!
I love this guy,,, but he does not love me. Try singalonga, you got all his albums, he sings em different live. My old dad loved him since day one, my sisters bought tickets for them and dad. He sang all night with his back to the audience. Sighhh. True.
ah, the less angry, more contemplative version ... i like the really pissed original ... ;-)
Personally I much prefer Mick hucknell's version first class
Teeth have some nerve
