Was surprised re. the same-sex blessings. But just because I don't fully understand the reasons behind it, nor have great inclinations nor feelings to accept it just in respect to the actual doctrine, doesn't mean I can't in my free-will choices accept it on the basis of adherence to religion and faith. We must remember that the Holy Spirit assists the Magisterium, and that the pope is daily striving in such matters: it is his job and occupation. As a person of an intellectual bent, sometimes my articulations accidentally upset ppl who aren't so intellectually oriented. What I've learnt is that it is not only a matter of being right in terms of intellectual truth, but also a matter of doing things in a correct way, often in a way enthused with kindness. This whole fiasco could have perhaps been better handled if there had been a greater focus on being sensitive to those hostile to the teaching. For example, if it was changed to a blessing of friendships of a group of people, which could be between best friends, perhaps the Church would on the whole have been more receptive. True friendship never includes doing harm, such as unchaste things. And the film Casablanca taught us that love sometimes means to leave someone. We also need to realise that dark forces can make the papacy's job quite difficult.

However, that is NOT what FS is about. It requires priests to have one intention (of blessing individuals) while using gestures that express another intention (blessing a relationship). The Pope did not change Church teaching but has changed Church practice in a way that is causing confusion and misunderstanding. The Holy Spirit will protect Church teaching, but Popes can still make errors in judgement re. Church discipline and practice that others have to clean up later.
Just wondering whether Church discipline is in fact an extension, and a part of, the Magisterium's teaching. Sometimes things can be taught through practices, eg. Sacred Tradition. Not sure what is the answer to this. We can think of the Pope's direction as a 'work in progress'. Perhaps not perfect, and perhaps requiring improvement, but perhaps an important start on an issue that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. And he might end up being the one who irons out any problems that might presently exist in it. It would seem that the pope can also make errors in Church teaching, because Pope Francis has changed the teaching on the death penalty such that there is an implication that the Church was wrong in the past regarding such matters. Assistance from the Holy Spirit doesn't mean to protect absolutely from error. And probably the pope receives aid from the Holy Spirit in his decisions re. discipline & practices. More than one relationship can exist in same-sex couples: a wrong sexual relationship, & a valid friendship. If the blessings make clear that it is solely the friendship being blessed, could be okay.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation not only grants the actual grace to repent, it also forgives the sin, and restores the merits of good works obliterated by sin, thus placing the soul back into the state of grace. It's a good sacrament, more powerful than same-sex blessing. There's no need for FS at all.
The biggest damage that Francis is causing is that he has made it almost impossible to evangelize the truth of Catholicism. I feel the rug has been pulled out from under me. They had invented with Fiducia supplicants a new "product" (for new "customers"), the "spontaneous blessings" vs "liturgic blessings"...The new service only would last "about 10 or 15 seconds"...Now we have different levels of blessings... Please, this is not serious. All of us form the Catholic Church, and we must rise our voice to preserve the institution and their values. Fiducia supplicans must be withdrawn.

What is the Holy Spirit called for and what is exactly being blessed? What is a spiritual purpose of such a ‘blessing’ and what sort of a particular help it intends to provide? Love and acceptance can make miracles of soul transformation, and Pope Francis' vision on the same-sex unions seems to be about love and acceptance. Yet, the same-sex couple blessing would make sense if the Church dumps viewing the same-sex relationship per ser as a sin. Without that, such a 'blessing' appears conflicting and self-contradictory. I think Vatican tried to satisfied the already German bishops producing this document and avoid their split with the Church. But on the other side as Fernandez so Francis have underestimated the church in Africa, Poland, Hungary, Kazachstan, Peru, Brasil and Ukraine hoping they can somehow get out with all their twisted explanations on that document.I myself as many people I know was considering to return to this Church after years of other experiences in the Evangelical movement. There is a unique quality in the state of poverty or what is often labeled as being "outdated" by our supposedly enlightened Western society. In our claimed enlightenment, we find ourselves in the position of criticizing Christ and His Mother, deeming them too inflexible and mistaken.

This clarification adds more confusion. All the problem started with the German Catholics, they are not moved in the least by these immoral blessing. What about Priests having worries of conscience? No concern for their needs is evidential! Will the next thing be that those who do not do this will suffer ex-communication for being somehow disobedient?
If FS cannot be rescineded, it should be done NOT by ordained clergy but by Extraordinary Ministers, as in, EMHC of holy communion. Outside the church's premises, of course, and no sign of the cross or invocation of the Blessed Trinity.

Was surprised re. the same-sex blessings. But just because I don't fully understand the reasons behind it, nor have great inclinations nor feelings to accept it just in respect to the actual doctrine, doesn't mean I can't in my free-will choices accept it on the basis of adherence to religion and faith. We must remember that the Holy Spirit assists the Magisterium, and that the pope is daily striving in such matters: it is his job and occupation.
As a person of an intellectual bent, sometimes my articulations accidentally upset ppl who aren't so intellectually oriented. What I've learnt is that it is not only a matter of being right in terms of intellectual truth, but also a matter of doing things in a correct way, often in a way enthused with kindness. This whole fiasco could have perhaps been better handled if there had been a greater focus on being sensitive to those hostile to the teaching. For example, if it was changed to a blessing of friendships of a group of people, which could be between best friends, perhaps the Church would on the whole have been more receptive. True friendship never includes doing harm, such as unchaste things. And the film Casablanca taught us that love sometimes means to leave someone. We also need to realise that dark forces can make the papacy's job quite difficult.

However, that is NOT what FS is about. It requires priests to have one intention (of blessing individuals) while using gestures that express another intention (blessing a relationship). The Pope did not change Church teaching but has changed Church practice in a way that is causing confusion and misunderstanding. The Holy Spirit will protect Church teaching, but Popes can still make errors in judgement re. Church discipline and practice that others have to clean up later.
Just wondering whether Church discipline is in fact an extension, and a part of, the Magisterium's teaching. Sometimes things can be taught through practices, eg. Sacred Tradition. Not sure what is the answer to this.
We can think of the Pope's direction as a 'work in progress'. Perhaps not perfect, and perhaps requiring improvement, but perhaps an important start on an issue that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. And he might end up being the one who irons out any problems that might presently exist in it.
It would seem that the pope can also make errors in Church teaching, because Pope Francis has changed the teaching on the death penalty such that there is an implication that the Church was wrong in the past regarding such matters. Assistance from the Holy Spirit doesn't mean to protect absolutely from error. And probably the pope receives aid from the Holy Spirit in his decisions re. discipline & practices.
More than one relationship can exist in same-sex couples: a wrong sexual relationship, & a valid friendship. If the blessings make clear that it is solely the friendship being blessed, could be okay.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation not only grants the actual grace to repent, it also forgives the sin, and restores the merits of good works obliterated by sin, thus placing the soul back into the state of grace. It's a good sacrament, more powerful than same-sex blessing. There's no need for FS at all.
The biggest damage that Francis is causing is that he has made it almost impossible to evangelize the truth of Catholicism. I feel the rug has been pulled out from under me. Love and acceptance can make miracles of soul transformation, and Pope Francis' vision on the same-sex unions seems to be about love and acceptance. Yet, the same-sex couple blessing would make sense if the Church dumps viewing the same-sex relationship per ser as a sin. Without that, such a 'blessing' appears conflicting and self-contradictory.

Holy God determined by creation, natural law and biology that only a man and a woman can be married. A priest cannot bless that which God refuses to bless.

This clarification adds more confusion. All the problem started with the German Catholics, they are not moved in the least by these immoral blessing. The Germans and the Belgians have determined to be Christians on their own terms not of Christ. First of all, a couple in an “irregular/homosexual” relationship doesn’t even THINK they’re committing sin, so why bless someone who doesn’t plan to change? I suggest that they attend RCIA first. If after that, they decide to change their way of life, THEN bless them. Problem solved.

What about Priests having worries of conscience? No concern for their needs is evidential! Will the next thing be that those who do not do this will suffer ex-communication for being somehow disobedient?
If FS cannot be rescineded, it should be done NOT by ordained clergy but by Extraordinary Ministers, as in, EMHC of holy communion. Outside the church's premises, of course, and no sign of the cross or invocation of the Blessed Trinity.

As a lifelong Catholic, I am very sorry to say that Pope Francis has caused much confusion and failed to uphold the one true holy apostolic church as given to us by Our Lord Jesus.
